Well, that's too long.

Welcome to the New Denton Remington. Great to have you with the Mean Green. As to Mansell, we will always be here should he become homesick.

Based on the article from the Temple paper linked above, I would say he will be playing TE/WR and not tackle this year. His coach, Bob Shipley (is this the father of Jordan?), states that he runs great routes and has good hands. Not quotes for an OT.

Dave Campbell's Texas Football 2016: UNT worst in Texas
UNTLifer replied to Tyler Maryak's topic in Mean Green Football
Could we please go back to the old Scrappy, Please!? I say the players buy in and we win three games this year. We will be capable of winning 4 or 5, but this team will find a way to lose a few it should win. Just growing pains. We all must practice patience. -
It has become clear that they should be a better reflection of the teachings of the religion.

Wish I could share your amusement, but considering who is leading our team and where they have led us, I would take Jank in a heartbeat. Back on topic, this is typical Larry Brown MO. Go to a program, build a winner, leave the program, the program ends up with sanctions. SMU being SMU. It is sad that the two programs in Texas with the most visible "incidents" of cheating/running a rogue program are tied to the Baptist and Methodist denominations of Christianity.

Hope you are safe Emmitt. Thoughts are prayers with all of the good men and women that choose the very difficult profession of police work.

Nothing because I would be shocked if he came here...but you never know. -
It was the SID's wife and Joe Greene's nickname in college was "Big Joe."

MGB: Follow-up thoughts on Littrell, Benford comments
UNTLifer replied to Brett Vito's topic in Mean Green Football
It is amazing to me how much more creative DD's offense's are when he is the OC as opposed to the HC. He might suffer from what I call, "Norv Turner Syndrome," or "Wade Phillips Syndrome." Great coordinators that just aren't successful as HC's. -

Dickey has also proven to function better as a Coordinator than a Head Coach. -
Worked for me and my wife. Of course, she has been calling me Rhode Island ever since. I don't get it.

2018 CB TANNER MCCALISTER Rockwall-Heath High School
UNTLifer replied to baberuthbomber8's topic in UNT Football Recruiting
It is definitely getting more difficult. It is also probably difficult to be "stealth" with social media. -
Because Dickey didn't try to win those games.
-
I love this idea if you can make it accessible to the fans.
-
Either way, that is a much improved OOC schedule.

2018 CB TANNER MCCALISTER Rockwall-Heath High School
UNTLifer replied to baberuthbomber8's topic in UNT Football Recruiting
This young man highlights how the star system works and how many young men that don't attend summer camps can get overlooked. McCalister, in two years, has 31 tackles, 2 passes broken up and 1 interception on defense. On offense, he has 117 rushing attempts for 499 yards and 7 TD's with 8 receptions for 112 yards and 1 TD. Nothing really to write home about, 4.2 yards per rushing attempt, and overall, not much production, but his athletic ability is obvious, and he has participated in summer camps to exhibit his ability to many "recruiting experts." I would love to sign kids like this, but I also prefer young men that produced on the field. This is an area that Dickey excelled at when building our teams during the early Sun Belt run. DD found young men that were overlooked because they might not have the exposure of others. Patrick Cobbs and Johnny Quinn, two HOF members, are perfect examples. I believe, that to really build our program and to make it attractive to the 3 and 4 star kids, we have to find these young men that just produce when the lights come on. They run faster and harder during a game than against the clock and just produce. Chris Hurd is another great example. Gamers will allow us to build this program, and then once it is built, we will be able to attract the higher rated recruits that we are currently after yet rarely sign. Just make sure we have a coaching staff like the one we have currently that are relentless on the recruiting trail. (Of course, after watching his highlights, I am not sure how accurate those stats are that are listed on his page.) -
Well, Gray was solid last year, but Combs, Finney and Thompson didn't show much. I hope that are solid contributors this year, but my point is that we are all really excited about the newcomers and history has shown there is an acclimation period. I hope this year is an exception.
-
Rick, I think your time line is off a bit. Weren't we Forrest green through all of the DD years?
-
I have not been to TDECU, but I have been to Rice. Why do you like Rice better?
-
Did anyone watch the Oil Bowl this year? Were there any kids in that game that may be walk-on worthy?
-
I like what we have added but it seems like it almost always takes a year for transfers to acclimate. Trice is a good example of this in recent years, and our old DT Michael Pruitt would be a good example during the DD era. IF these additions can contribute year one, then I see us returning to the Trice/Orr/Lee led defense that had teams like Ball State, UNLV, etc... quitting in the second half. I always love seeing the opposing team shy away from contact after getting knocked around by our boys. I hope we see a return to this type of defense this year.

Yes, because missing .07 of a second is earth shattering.
-
Let's see how many get that. Well played.

Of their commits, who would you want us to flip?
