  1. That's like saying Alabama is still Alabama stuck in Tuscaloosa. There was and is zero value placed in the education these kids receive, the free housing, meals, tutoring, healthcare, etc... when less than 5% will earn money in professional sports once they are done in college. 99% of these young men and women should be picking a school that has the major of their choosing and that has a track record of preparing them for their life after sports. Too many people are telling these kids to get all the money they can right now with zero thought about their education and the life lessons that should be being taught at this time.
  2. Denton is a much a problem as the university. The want so much to be "little Austin" and embrace the weird, hippy culture which includes being critical of spending on athletics, doing away with the HC parade because it isn't "sustainable", the constant bickering over the evolution of Fry Street from a hippy/drug user hangout of the 60's with buildings painted with murals, etc. to what it is today, citizens complaining about the university developing the golf course property into an athletics' focused area and the citizens being so short sighted as to not supporting the school and its teams because it isn't cool. They fight UNT at every turn when a partnership would have greatly benefitted both. UNT has forever been the "organization" that drove the tax revenue in Denton, but the citizens continued to bite the hand that feeds it.
  3. I don't understand why you are here. Your university, as much, or more, than any other university, has contributed to the current situation and I will laugh when you all end up in the same boat as the rest because you won't be part of the "have's" when the break occurs. To the UT's, Bama's, Ohio State's, and Michigan's of the world, you all are just the snotty nosed kid with rich parents that is fun to bring along because you will pay for crap nobody else wants to.
  4. We have complained for years about being left in the dark. The Mean Green Club was promised quarterly meetings that never took place, now there is little to no coverage of the spring practices, player movement is constant so the days of watching a last second scholarship player developing in to a Hall of Fame performer are long gone ala Johnny Quinn, there is little to no fan engagement, etc... It just keeps getting worse and without a push to really involve the fans, I foresee a bleak future. They, the AD, has to create excitement around the team/program or Apogee will just become a waste of money, the new basketball arena will never happen and future adds like baseball will just be an idea that came too late. The days of the G5's are on their way out. It will be whittled down to the top 40 or 50 programs as D1. We might as well go back to our D1AA days and play at the FCS level. I am just about done with sports from a financial commitment position. The greed has ruined it for me. There is zero loyalty towards the program by the players. It is all about them and how much money they can cram in their pockets and it appears our basketball coach encourages the lack of loyalty. I will watch on television, but that's about it, much like pro sports have become. I have no interest in attending a Cowboys' game live once the prices became ridiculous, same with the Mav's and Rangers' in that stupid new ballpark that was a waste of money. I had arrived at a point where I was only willing to invest in watching North Texas live, but the current situation has ruined that as well. The future of all of college sports is a disaster if some type of control isn't put in place. It is ridiculous and very sad. Guess I will end up spending my money on golf, fine food and drink, drugs, etc. and become a more interesting person.

  6. I really thought he would be something when he signed. Just never found his spot.
  7. There are some good JUCO DL's still out there. Curious if we are even looking there.
  8. West and Swiney weren't going to get any playing time.
  9. Corey Swiney enters the portal. Believe he was a walk-on. https://247sports.com/Player/Corey-Swiney-46094056/
  10. UH WR: Mikal Harrison-Pilot, we offered out of high school. https://247sports.com/Player/Mikal-Harrison-Pilot-46097273/ Louisville DL: Jermayne Lole https://247sports.com/Player/Jermayne-Lole-89984/ TCU DL: Damonic Williams https://247sports.com/Player/Damonic-Williams-46098525/
  11. Yep. They keep calling me to reup my FB season tickets and I just can't pull the trigger. No incentive. Silence around the program. Nobody up there is driving any type of excitement, spring football came and went with the least amount of coverage as I can ever remember which has led to me not really caring at this point. Things are more expensive, two kids in college and I have to decide if I want to make the drive, etc. Nobody working on Bonnie Brae Street is giving me any reason to at this point. I may just sit here and watch it on ESPN+
  12. Just watched the replay and the score is pretty deceiving to me. 1. Childers has got to get straightened out for us to have a shot the rest of the way. It looks like she is trying to overthrow and has lost her control. 2. This change in the rule for obstruction is complete bullshit. Christensen hosed a girl trying to steal second by three feet and the umpire, after adjusting his Aggie ring, called obstruction. It is ridiculous. There was no other way for Medford to field the throw. It is almost as if they are supposed to just let them have access to the base. I would love to hear the umpire's explanation, after he adjusts his Aggie ring, on how he expects us to defend that steal attempt. 3. That reversal led to their big inning and took a lot out of us. 4. Their homerun was basically a popup that the wind carried out. On the flip side, Gamble hit on off the wall, that if she elevated another ten feet, would have landed in Sanger. 5. We still seem to be a little passive at the plate. 6. We turned a beautiful 5-4-3 double play that they never showed a replay of. In the end, this game means nothing. Let's go sweep Memphis and finish out this season on a winning streak. Love watching these girls.
  13. Beat ECU 4-1 in round one. Advance to play #5 USF at noon tomorrow. Being played in a suburb of Dallas at the intersection of Mockingbird Ln and 75.
  14. She played the second game last night and got beat up. Got hit by a pitch on her lower leg in her first at bat, hit by a pitch in her "chest" in her second at bat and then took a foul ball while catching. The second HBP was pretty funny. DeLong and the trainer came out, the trainer and Christensen started grinning and DeLong walked away pretty quickly. She also had a double and 3 RBI's That game could have been much worse for TAMU-Commerce as we left the bases loaded in the first three innings.
  15. Mason Lewis tied for 5th individually. Very nice tournament for her.
  16. I think he was getting passed on the depth chart by new arrivals.
  17. Tulsa, smu and USF are the class of the conference. Mason Lewis has played really well for us, currently tied for fourth at -5, but we need more behind her that can consistently go low. Consistently being the key word. We were right there after the first round, 6th place and 8 strokes out of the lead, but then we shot 14 strokes higher in round two while Tulsa and USF improved on their opening round scores. We can't have those big swings. Here is the current team leaderboard:
  18. I am guessing she was injured early this year because she wasn't playing, but man, what a welcome addition to the lineup. Besides her contributions noted above, she is probably our top, and most versatile outfielder. A really strong four tool, speed, hitting, throwing and defense, player.
  19. Aaron also progressed as the year went on and won numerous CUSA freshman player of the week honors.
  20. Massie is roughly the same frame as Cotton and the incoming Mason. I hope this doesn't further stall their development. Time to figure out what we have in our own recruits
