This is indeed the future for the PAC 12, but there's real value in the name. Certain conferences are written into the NCAA rules as being more than equal, and the PAC 12 is one of them. So regardless of membership, it remains a "P5" conference. Much like the Big 12. SMU (and UNT) hopes for a P5 berth run through a raided PAC 12 right now.

Facilities don't win games. North Texas is no better in Apogee than it was in Fouts.

The State of Mean Green Football, in Haiku
TripleGrad replied to greenminer's topic in Mean Green Football
There is a team from Old Denton Week zero they were kickin' They think they're best 'neath a coach named Seth But the Ponies left them just spittin' -
If Seth beats Texas Southern will you forgive his past sins??

9-4 puts SL at 46-42 career at UNT. That's hardly overwhelming, and not next-level caliber. -
Here's perspective: since UNT's return to top level football in 1995, the team has won almost exactly 40% of their games at 122-203 (and 20% of bowl games). That means if this team goes 5-7, it's actually above average for our school.

It's not 1 game. It's everything since 2019. To recap: 4-8, 4-6, 6-7 (with a bowl loss), 1-1 with a high-profile blowout. Even in the winning seasons, he loses the bowl games (0-5)

I'm tired of the "talent" argument. I'd buy that argument if he was here a year or two, but he's been here long enough that the whole team is his guys. One of the most important things a head coach is supposed to do at the college level is recruit. Where's the pipeline, where's the development, where are the results? Don't blame the conference either, UTSA is right down the road and they can hang with any reasonable expectations.

***OFFICIAL GMG SMU vs. UNT IN-GAME DISCUSSION***

Remember, we were chosen for the "whole package", not what happens on the field. Right? Isn't that what folks were saying last year? (anyone know if our volleyball team is good? Or rowing?) -

As a complete aside, does anyone else think Phil Bennett looks like Stephen Root playing a coach? -

Ah, the forward punt. Always a favored play for the offense. -
Might as well get this started . . .

The TV production looks terrible after the UH/UTSA game on the same channel. Honest question -- who is responsible for TV production? Is it still NTTV or does CUSA have their own crews? -
So are we pulling for nUTSAck or UofH?

Well this has turned out interesting indeed -

Cougars. From what I can remember, I apparently had a great 1 semester at that school -

****OFFICIAL UNT VS. UTEP IN-GAME DISCUSSION***
TripleGrad replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Football
One thing about this UTEP game -- it's making me realize that if we somehow got a miracle PAC12 invite, I'd never stay awake through a whole game.
