This kid Leota may turn out to be one of the biggest stories this season. In high school at 6A Euless Trinity, he was listed at 6-2 185 and was a great athlete making plays all over the field as a linebacker hybrid defensive end position. In high school he had an undisclosed injury his senior season which hurt his recruiting stock. He basically redshirted last season playing in one game and working in the weight room and putting on weight. Mr. Farris received the Palestine Herald-Press Athletic Award for the 1957-1958 school year. He was inducted into the Palestine Wall of Honor in 2014. He was recruited by Coach Bear Bryant and attended Texas A&M for one year before transferring to TJC. At Tyler Junior College he was Junior College All-America as a guard/linebacker and was named the conference’s Most Valuable Player. Mr. Farris helped lead the Apaches to the 1960 national championship. TJC was 12-0 during the regular season and was invited to the Junior Rose Bowl in Pasadena, California. Although the Apaches lost to Long Beach City College, 38-16, TJC was awarded the national title before the postseason game. In 2009, Mr. Farris was inducted into the TJC Sports Circle of Honor. In 2018, the TJC 1960 championship team received a Special Recognition Award from the TJC Alumni Association. This award recognizes an individual or a team of individuals for their outstanding professional achievements, contributions to society, and/or service to their community thus bringing honor to the College. After junior college, Mr. Farris ended up at North Texas State and was named All-America his junior season. In the 1962 NFL Draft he was selected by the Los Angeles Rams as the 100th overall player and the second pick of the eighth round. Mr. Farris was also selected in the 23rd round (184th player) by the San Diego Chargers in the 1962 AFL Draft, but chose to play for the Rams. After his professional career, he returned to his beloved hometown of Palestine. Following one season as offensive coordinator at North Texas, Harrell produced back-to-back top-25 offenses after inheriting an offense that ranked in the nation's bottom 25 in scoring, passing, and total offense. Harrell comes from the Air Raid tree, stemming from his time with legendary college football head coach Mike Leach while Harrell was the quarterback at Texas Tech (2005-08). The two linked up again at Washington State in Harrell's transition to coaching for two seasons (2014-15) as an offensive analyst then receivers coach installed his version of the offense during the spring practice period. DENTON, Texas – Lysette Rivera-Cortes has been named the strength and conditioning coach for the North Texas women’s basketball team, Jalie Mitchell announced on Wednesday. “Lysette comes to UNT highly recommended, and ready to leave her mark”, Mitchell said. “I can't wait for her to lead our young women in strength and conditioning work, preparing them for what's to come. Her mindset and drive are unmatched, and what attracted us in the hiring process. She will join us in doing whatever it takes to continue soaring to new heights!” Rivera-Cortes was with Bucknell’s strength and conditioning staff for two seasons where she worked with eight different sports. Prior to Bucknell, she was at Georgia Southern University, where she had been serving as an assistant strength and conditioning coach. At GSU, Rivera-Cortes worked with the men's basketball, women's basketball, men's golf, and cheerleading teams. She instructed student-athletes in proper execution of Olympic and powerlifting movements, plyometric drills, sprint mechanics and other techniques. She was also responsible for creating individualized nutrition programs to optimize athletic performance and recovery. Rivera-Cortes is a 2019 graduate of Old Dominion University, where she received a bachelor’s degree in exercise science. In August 2020, she completed a master's degree in exercise science from ODU, and she also worked with the Monarchs' women's volleyball, women's basketball and swimming and diving teams as a graduate assistant. Rivera-Cortes is a National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS). She has completed USA Weightlifting Level One (USAW-1) certification. She is also a certified nutrition coach (PN-1) and a registered yoga teacher (200 Hr-RYT). I keep thinking some of the folks in charge at the University of Texas will wake up some fine morning and admit how badly they’ve screwed up college sports—especially college football, since that’s the big catfish. Of course, that thought is aspirational, like flying pigs, dancing turnips, and an athletics conference that makes geographical sense. If you’re looking for ground zero for the chaos that’s engulfed college sports, you’d need to go back to 2011, when Texas A&M bolted for the Southeastern Conference because the school no longer trusted UT’s machinations in the Big 12. Lots of Texas A&M alums will tell you that jumping to the SEC was the best thing that ever happened to the Aggies. A&M, no longer stuck in the Longhorns’ shadow, found itself competing in the richest, most prestigious conference in the land. Yet still, I have this dream that A&M and Texas officials will meet for coffee, shake hands, and say something like: “Let’s think of our fans and what’s best for them.” I know that’s naive, but if they ever got together, it would take them about five minutes to come up with a brand-new conference that’d be wildly appealing in the Lone Star State. UT and A&M would be in it. So would Oklahoma, Nebraska, and Arkansas. Also Texas Tech, Baylor, Houston, Oklahoma State, TCU, and SMU. Yes but there are some rivalries that will resume due to the latest rounds of realignment as well. Texas and A&M will play on Thanksgiving again and that is going to generate a lot of interest in the state and nation.

Yeah but Bill Clark at UAB took a program that was completely shut down and built it back up into a powerhouse. The UNT job is not complicated. It’s one of the easiest jobs in FBS quite honestly. We just cannot ever hire the right guy. In the past it was about money and that has evidently not changed.

When’re else would be better. Seems like that is the best place we have on the Eagle point side where people see it. I would have preferred a sculpture type deal like A&M has for the 12th man or like the Mean Joe sculpture in bronze but I’m guessing it was not in the budget. Fans need to understand, we are moving from driving a Mercedes’ in the CUSA to driving a Taurus in the AAC. NIL adds another funding concern as well. Until we find our next “Mattress Mac” type of sugar daddy donor we will need to start cutting coupons and eating bologna sandwiches with white bread and mustard.

All good questions. Based on his past actions I don’t think Ween would fire Seth during the season. He prefers to wait and evaluate after the season is over. Last year was a good example for that philosophy as Seth reeled off 5 straight and beat a top 25 team. the only scenario I can envision where Seth would be fired during the season would be if he just lost the tea
