  1. My powerhouse comment was directed to the Sun Belt which was the context of this thread you moron.
  2. Good post. It's hard to bag on tennis because we haven't yet to see positive effects of the new tennis center. Football has been a powerhouse despite a down year. Men's Basketball has been a huge disappointment period. Womens basketball has been ok although their tourney performance has been poor. Mens golf and track have been fairly decent. Womens track has been exceptional. Women's softball has been horrible and should have been a much stronger team by now. To me a lot of the coaches we have hired have not developed their respective programs to their full potential.
  3. The Ticket just reported that Babe Laufenberg has resigned as color analyst for the Cowboys. No replacement yet named but I'll tell you George Dunham may get that job. It would make me sick to lose George from the Mean Green Network. It would be an honor for him to be named. If George leaves I would like them to bring in a former player maybe Scott Hall to call the games and join Hank.
  4. The game will ride on jamario and I think he will respond like he did against Colorado. Texas will not face a better running back this year. Against Texas you have to grind it out and use clock. I expect Jamario will get 25 to 30 carries in this game. More later.
  5. I'm sorry I accidently posted this twice and don't know how to delete it.
  6. There is not a better representative of UNT than Patrick Cobbs. Whatever he does in life you can rest assured he will make us all extremely proud. I try not to get emotional on this site but I am really going to miss Patrick Cobbs being on this football team. His toughness and leadership will be terribly missed.
  7. That is such good news! We are all proud of his accomplishments. You guys must be good parents to have such a fine son.
  8. Count me in as a fan of green grenade's optimism. I wish we had more that had his dreams of a better future.
  9. I am hearing they may hire Quinn Synder.
  10. That's not bad karma. The truth is jamario has never had one healthy season at unt. Even in his freshman year he didn't finish the baylor game or we would have won it.
  11. I think this was a very solid hire. Archie was a good player that was unselfish. He was also a good student. He will be an excellent role model for the players.
  12. I'm guessing losses will include - Texas, Louisiana Jack and Akron. SMU is such an emotional game who knows. I imagine they will be favored. I think the days of us just waltzing through the Sunbelt are officially over. I predict the Sun Belt champion will have 2 league losses this year. I think we will lose to Lafayette and Florida Atlantic but will win the rest. I think our record will be around 500, we will beat smu and will win the sun belt on a tiebreaker. Other thoughts?
  13. I like Archie he seems humble and intellegent. I remember him as a good player. What I like is that he is a UNT alum and I really like that. We need to get more of our successful alums up there. Good hire by DD.
  14. You guys are so negative. We get two winnable nonconference games one that gets us into Houston and you bitch and moan. Get a life. Major kudos to RV and Hank for getting this done for us. I feel compelled to apologize for our spoiled fans.
  15. Plumm as I've said before I respect your posts and it is clear that you have some knowledge about the subject. What do you propose we do to fix the current situation? If you were in charge what steps would you take to correct things?
  16. I didn't notice anyone selling them at the Green and White game.
  17. I think that inclimate weather also hurt the attendance at that game as well.
  18. Does a win at home against SMU get you back on the bandwagon next year?
  19. I know I sound biased but I find Hank Dickerson and George Dunham about as good as it gets.
  20. I stand corected untgeorge. I don't follow basketball as closely. I still think Memphis would be a good program to emulate. I think leadership is the key BUT good leaders will find a way to put good coaches in place. I'm sorry, but when I watched A$M last night almost beat LSU it dawned on me that a good coach can make a bad program good. Billy Gillespie is one of those difference maker coaches that are so valuable.
  21. To me, Memphis is a program we should realisitically strive to be like. They haven't been good an any of the major sports until recently. They have developed great fan support and pride in their school. They have hired outstanding coaches. They have a city that supports them. They clearly have good consistent leaders at the top who are making it happen. I'm watching them play in the NCAA tourney today and their fans are making a good showing as they did in New Orleans a couple of years ago. I am really tired of all the Coach Dickey and JJ bashing on here. When will you guys realize that it takes leadership at the top levels to move up to the next level. Bobby Ray, Lee Jackson and the new President will be the ones who hold the keys to the future of this program.
