Got my curiousity up. He is shown on the roster of Caneros de la Romano in the Dominican Republic. He is shown on the roster but has not had a number assigned and apparently has not played in any of the team's 20 games. Maybe he was injured, who knows.

Last I looked Tony was on the roster of a team in the Dominican Republic. At that time there was a link on the Puerto Rican team site to the DR team; look under "former players".

I would vote for the Whitaker etc teams as best. The 75-76 team probably had more talent but did not play defense, for instance giving up more than 100 pts 4 times and 90 or more than 90 pts 4 more times.

?
Without a doubt.

Well, MeanGreen93-98, WVU runs a 3-3 and they agree with you, calling theirs DE NT DE on their two-deep.
Neither of the two NTs shown on their 2 deep is as much as 300 lbs. Not the big massive guys the textbooks say you need.
Thanks for Rick and Harry for the nice words.

Replying to MeanGreen 93-98: Arizona 2 deep shows the position descriptions as NT, DT, DE. It is my understanding that is normal for a 3-3.

Need a huge NT to run a 3-3-5. Unless there is a surprise be the end of the day, we don't have that on this roster.
Arizona runs a 3-3 with 288 lb NT, backed up by an even smaller guy, 247 lbs. The other DT is 277.
Not saying this is what we should do, just saying there may be ways around the old axiom about the big guy in the middle.

UNT pretty much lost the moneyed element in the city of Denton when he scheduled games in Dallas. Let's not make that mistake again.

We used the pistol at times the last two seasons.

That quote has to do with a contract for the basketball league to be formed by the 7 catholic schools leaving the BE. At those prices, they will have no trouble attracting 5 more teams.

I know the dates. And I know that "commitments" doesn't mean we have them. We have them when they sign.
So who has signed and who will be available for spring training?- 1

Who on this list has signed and will be available for spring training?

It's pretty well known A&M s wanting to go to the SEC without Texas was what scuttled the original PAC 16 deal.
What scuttled the UT to PAC-16 deal was that UT insisted on having its Longhorn Network and the PAC- said no. Neither side would give. The LHR is also what drove A&M and Missouri to the SEC.

For the record Norris made the choice to transfer to another school. That decision that he made would have happened whether or not it was Benford or Johnny at the helm.
You are suggesting he made the choice all by himself in August after spending all summer practicing with the team at UNT? In August which means after most of what might have been his options no longer had scholarships open? Are you sure?

Only saw Creighton once last year but i believe their base defense is man. Interesting, though, in the NCAA game vs Alabama last spring they switched to a 2-3 zone in the 2nd half and held Bama to something like 25 pts in that half, coming from behind to win by one.
In other words, though their weakness is defense, they can use D to find a way to win.

Oh yes you are correct... I must be a lier obvisouly. Why not... I should lie, it makes sense right...? Did you go to law school or something. Believe what you want, I could care less. I get around and am 100 percent confident in what I can say.
Please explain what motive I would have for lying? Were you there for the conversation in the booth? Please explain... What did you hear?
You are telling something they don't want to hear. Therefore you are not only wrong you have bad intentioons.

Let me ask the question that I'm sure some have asked themselves. What does SMU have to do with a story about NT hiring a coach? No mention is made of them in the actual article, yet they are prominently mentioned in the article's title. When I heard the hire mentioned on the radio today is was "After interviewing with SMU, and SMU choosing to go with Larry Brown, Tony Benford has been named the head coach at North Texas." Does anyone else see the unspoken dig built into these media announcements?
The print edition of the DaMN delivered to my home did not have the reference to SMU.

Quote is from Buzz Williams, not Buzz Peterson.

North Texas has hired Marquette assistant Tony Benford, sources told CBSSports. Story coming.

Great choice! Best of the list as reported by Vito!

Eric Capper just tweeted:
"Tony Benford"
Thoughts?
Edit:
But then he tweeted "fran frachilla" and "don nelson". So F me.
Of those who are not now or never have been head coaches, Benford is a great choice, the best choice. Would rather have someone with HC experience.

The attention alone from ESPN by hiring fran will be worth the hire.
That is what was said about Todd Dodge.

First I'll start off by admitting that outside of UNT college hoops, I'm not much of a fan. In fact, outside of the mavs and UNT hoops, I really don't care for the sport in general compared to hockey, and of course football and baseball. It is a good workout to play a little round ball, but spectating.... meh.
So some on here were griping about not having good enough laundry represented. Now, we've got the 2 winning-est programs in college hoops history going at it, and I could not possibly be more disinterested. To me, there is no intrigue at all. Ho hum, Kansas might rack up another championship...or ditto for Kentucky. Meh.
Granted, they earned their spots by fighting through a the big tournament. No gripes there(it still baffles me people were griping about the finalists last year on this board). But, I have no connections to either university...and since they've won so much it is just a resounding meh every time I see this being hyped up on espn and whatever other tv/radio station is speculating about it.
Anyways, had a great time Saturday in the basketball game. Nice exercise, and as far as I could tell, nobody got hurt.
Go Mean Green!
Great matchup! Best team vs best coach. Can hardly wait.

Agree...should UNT have won the tournament, I would all but bet that UNT would, indeed, be playing in a play-in game. What do they call them now? The NCAA doesn't use the term "play-in"...what do they call it now? Whatever they call it, UNT would be in it! Agree with Mo Green here.
They call them "first round" games.

Hasn't played for either team since April 25. I still wonder if he is injured. The Dominican league team's season is over.
