  1. Keep Dallas Moving .pdf file link Look at how close the highway will come to the stadium, and also look at how homes and businesses will be impacted south of Fouts Field. It also show how the new bridge at North Texas Blvd. will allign with Mean Green Village. This will change the look of the I-35 corrider through Denton. Go to the main Keep Dallas Moving website to see how the whole project will work from the Lake Lewisville Bridge up through 380.
  2. (Since they are playing at Ryan, why not consider the new Denton Guyer High. It's a newer facility. Thank goodness, they aren't playing at Mac Park.) Outlaw Fans, This is a note to inform you that I am moving out of the General Managers role and into the position of co-founder! Basically that means we found someone to do what I did a lot better than I did it! Candiss Caudle has been working for the Texas Rangers the last couple of years and has also worked for the Fort Worth Cats. She is going to be a true assest to the organization. It looks like we will be playing at Ryan High School this summer. The TCL has added an expansion team...the Ducanville Deputies. Because of having nine teams in the league this will make scheduling a little challenging, but the solution is to play five days a week and add an extra week to the season. Our first year will be a great memory in the minds and hearts of many. For me it was a great year of learning and growing. One thing that was clear to myself and others was my lack of business experience. I enjoyed myself tremendously meeting new people and making the vision of a summer collegiate league team in Denton to become a reality. I loved the long hard days and nights of a home game and I really appreciated the road games and the naps on the buses. My role as co-founder will be to cheer on the organization. So if you need anything please call or email Candiss Caudle at 817-412-0690. My number and email will remain the same, but all the details of the operations of the organization will be dealt with through Candiss. Thanks again for your support! 3. Devin is one of the fastest backs I saw this season while working on the Chevy Inside High School Football show. Actually he is probably one of the fastest backs I have seen in over 20 years. This kid can fly!!!! Go the this website highlighted below and look at Denton Liberty Christians Highlights. You will need to register to view this, but go look at his run on week 9 against FW Christian. Also, go to the cover story section and there is a great feature on Devin. There are also several other Denton Liberty Christian games to view for the 2005 football season. He is not very big or tall, but he leaves a contrail on the field while standing in the zone zone! 4. He was on the sidelines during the Tulsa game so I'm sure he is still the official photoguy! Email him by getting his address off his website. He will respond back. Rick is a great guy so I'm sure he will let you know when he will have photos of the games this year posted. Try this link http://www.rjy.com/
  5. Enrollment jumps 3.3 percent; sets new record DENTON (UNT), Texas -- According to the unofficial headcount after the 2005 fall census date (the fall semester's 12th day of classes), the University of North Texas student population has climbed to 32,181 -- an increase of 1,026 students or 3.3 percent. The new numbers indicate UNT has posted a new all-time high enrollment for five consecutive years and posted enrollment increases for nine consecutive years. Last year, UNT enrolled 31,155 students in the fall term, and in 2002 the university's enrollment surpassed 30,000 students for the first time. "UNT's continued enrollment growth demonstrates the quality of our academic programs and the strength of our commitment to the statewide ‘Closing the Gaps' effort with its ambitious goals to provide quality higher educational opportunities to growing numbers of Texans," said UNT President Norval Pohl. "At UNT, we place a high priority on the retention of students because it is important to us that our students are not just attending classes, but that they are connected to the university. Our commitment reaches beyond concerns about access to our university's resources and goes on to concerns about how graduation from UNT can improve our students' prospects for success in life," Pohl said. Breaking the undergraduate enrollment down by classification shows the 2005 fall freshman total of 5,629 is an increase of 8.8 percent or 454 students over last fall. The number of sophomores (5,367) increased by 2.9 percent or 150 students. The number of juniors (5,998) is up 4.6 percent or 263 students. And senior numbers (8,412) are up almost 3.2 percent or 265 students. Student classification is based on the number of semester hours passed. UNT's total undergraduate enrollment is up 4.7 percent (1,132 students) from 24,274 in fall 2004 to 25,406 this fall. At the graduate level, UNT's enrollment is down by 1.5 percent or 106 students. A concentrated team effort in the area of student recruitment since 1997 (involving individuals from many university departments) has guided UNT to consistent enrollment growth. UNT's total does not include out-of-state students who are registered only for UNT courses offered on the Internet. UNT's fall enrollment numbers include 77 students from colleges and universities unable to start their 2005 fall terms because they were in the path of Hurricane Katrina. On-site enrollment at the University of North Texas Dallas Campus is 1,450 students -- that makes 564 students in full-time equivalents (FTEs) for fall 2005. This represents a 20.8 percent increase in headcount and a 33.3 percent increase in FTE enrollment (compared to fall 2004), bringing the campus a step closer to the UNT System's goal to establish the University of North Texas at Dallas. Once the Dallas Campus enrollment reaches 1,000 full-time equivalent students, the UNT System can establish UNT at Dallas as an accredited, full-fledged, freestanding university and the first public university within the Dallas city limits. The Dallas Campus has been enrolling students for graduate and undergraduate classes and degree programs in southern Dallas since January 2000. "We are ecstatic that the fall 2005 enrollment numbers reflect a substantial climb over fall 2004 enrollment. The numbers are very encouraging and validate our belief that with our continued offering of quality programs that are relevant to our market, students will come and our enrollment will continue to grow," said Dr. John Ellis Price, vice provost for the UNT Dallas Campus. Last fall's enrollment at the Dallas Campus was 1,200 students (accounting for 423 in full-time equivalents or FTEs). Construction of the first building on the permanent site for UNT at Dallas began in July 2005. The schedule calls for classes to begin in the new building in January 2007. The new campus will be located on 264 acres of land located at Camp Wisdom and Houston School roads. Initial development of the land and construction of the first building for UNT at Dallas was made possible by state authorized bonds of $25.5 million in 2003. Until the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board verifies enrollment numbers and makes them official later in the fall, all enrollment statistics are unofficial, 12th class day numbers. 6. This subject has nothing to do with UNT Athletics, but I'm a proud dad and I have to let the Mean Green world know that a 10 year old baseball team from Denton, Texas won the Super Series American Div. National Title this Saturday in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. The Texas Sliders went undefeated in bracket play by defeating a team from Plano 10-6 to win the title. I am very proud of the boys and coaches on the team. The team played great defense, pitching at the National Tournament was the best all season and some very timely hits allowed the Texas Sliders team to bring home the Championship trophy home to Denton. Way to go 10 Year Old Texas Sliders Baseball Club! Texas Sliders Website Super Series Website: http://superseriesscores.com/A10U-BrokenArrow.html
  7. He is still doing some Frisco Roughrider games on 1700 AM. Bill is the greatest. I'm glad to see the University finally doing something to honor him in this way!
  8. To read more on this go to this link! I wish they would go back to the original 1923 Stadium "The House that Ruth Built"! I would like to see what the copper facade or frieze looked like when it was new. I understand it was very ornate at the time. The copper facade was taken away during the mid-70's remodel, but some of the frieze is still used today in the big wall behind the right field seats. New Yankee Stadium Pictures
  9. This site was just launched before the first game this week! Denton Outlaws Official Website
  10. Don't forget that SL Carroll also has the honor of being the best recruited high school team in the state!
  11. I know this is comparing apples to oranges, but The House That Ruth built was constructed in 284 working days in 1922 for 2.5 Mil! The plans are being finished and hopefully construction starts soon!
  12. The new TCL team in Denton is going to be called the Denton Outlaws. Who came up with that name several months ago? I do know that on 1/12/05 the owner of the team is meeting with select, youth baseball coaches to discuss starting a Denton Outlaws Organization. The McKinney Marshals have this kind of arrangement for 8-18 year old boys. So this means that if they are starting some kind of youth organization then a real team should not be that far behind. That's all the news I have at this point.
  13. I favor the Denton Outlaws since the new stadium will be only miles away from where Sam Bass and his gang hid from the law in the 1870's. Here is a description of the area. I am surprised there are no cell or communication towers on this undeveloped piece of land. PILOT KNOB (Denton County). Pilot Knob is a 900-foot-high protrusion located (at 33°09' N, 97°12' W) southwest of Denton on the eastern edge of the Grand Prairies,qv one of three major physiographical regions in Denton County. The knob, capped by dark brown arenaceous ironstone, consists mostly of sandstone. Centuries of running water have formed three cement-like sandstone ledges which, from a distance, resemble a ship's lookout; hence the name Pilot Knob. Because it was one of the highest points in north central Texas, Pilot Knob was used as a lookout station or signal point by members of the Caddo Indian confederacy, by Spanish and American pioneers, and later by Texas Rangers.qv At one time Sam Bassqv used it for a hideout. In the 1890s it became a favorite picnic spot for family outings.
