  1. thanks for the insight GreenDylan...that makes me proud to hear that about our student athletes. Everyone has to keep in mind that these kids come from schools all over the state, and many of them aren't the finest in academic standards. We've all seen how prized athletes sweet talk and loaf their way through high school. Maybe he just wasn't prepared for college academics. It's tough to grow up as a man, player, and a student all in 1 year....especially when you've been babied for the last couple years in high school.
  2. h-town...hope to see you at the bar for a few games this year when I'm not up in Denton. Real shame about Stanley..I think every knows how big a difference there is between JC and IA football...it's not always a grade issue sending the players there.
  3. I've been gone for a couple weeks, so you guys/gals may have already dissected his thoughts. I was suprised how much credit he gives Philip Graves. Touts him as one of the best linebackers in the country...top 50 I believe. Also has us listed in his top 12 of biggest turn around candidates...he is rarely wrong on these. Then again, going from 2-9 w/ alot of losses can easily be turned into 8-4 w/ alot of returning players.
  4. after 12 seasons of buying 2 tickets...I'm in for 4 this year down here in Houston + MGC donation...If I can't bring 4 people...I'll make sure all the tickets are scanned and i eat enough for 4 .
  5. nice thoughts stebo...i fully agree....I've played in Dickey's golf tourney a few times in Houston and I always found him engaging. It doesn't mean you and I always agree w/ his game day stategies, but I never got the whole 'Dickey hates the fans' bit. Look around at other colleges and even NFL teams...if you have a good QB you can win. Look at the chargers record when brees played well in '04 and poorly in '03. Pretty much the same team, but his performance turned the ship around. Look at all the teams that will struggle after losing an experienced senior QB...there are tons...and Penn St. might be the biggest example this year.
  6. I'm a charger fan and I'd take him...might be another Tim Dwight. I am tired of seeing the big fast guys go high in the pros...then you hear about suspect hands and poor route running..
  7. I went to the Dynamo game there...it was alot of fun...I coach soccer but don't like it. That has changed since seeing the pros play...really a neat experience. I would encourage everyone in Houston to go.
  8. I went to Robertson Stadium on the U of H campus on Saturday. It is a nice stadium...It's amazing what dropping the field and adding another smaller section close to the action does to the apprearance...I really like that place.
  9. The 5 or 10 times I've seen her...she's always hustling..she remembers my name every time...I think she is tremendous.
  10. OX- Thank you for your post...that is what sports fans should do...be furious and then back one week later to cheer. Doesn't mean you are happy w/ an inferior product, but you still can only control so much. South Carolina is the perfect example of how it should be done.
  11. Neon Deion has one of the fastest of all time at 4.28...only 3 players ran under a 4.38 at the combine....and 22 yr olds are faster than 18yr olds...don't buy into 40 times...they are all bogus...and all the coaches know it.
  12. EXCELLENT....I don't think the coaching staff, in hindsight, would disagree w/ this assesment. Hopefully this year we can throw to the tight end more and stop all the ridiculous jump balls up the sideline. Excellent observation that the receivers always had to slow up for the jump balls as well.
  13. I went to the game too....alot of fun...very close to the action...if you live in Houston, especially the west side, you definitely need to go. Bam really took over in the 4th quarter and started putting together some nice moves. Most players don't go both ways like the have to in Arena.
  14. I went to the TCU / Utah game...wasn't impressed w/ the campus at all...ugly buildings and not enough trees.....the stadium was pretty sweet...that upper deck is one steep son of a bitch though.
  15. good to hear such glowing things about isaac....makes you wonder about last year...it's been said before and I'll mention it again...we lost all those conf. games by a very small margin...things are not as ugly in conf. as we may have thought. out of conf. is another story!
  16. The paper said he hurt his hand and was getting x-rays in Denton. What a shame...he is very talented....the cycle never ends.
  17. what w/e does SMU visit????
  18. I don't know if it's a result of title IX, but SI said that Callahan had really trimmed down the whole walk on program.
  19. that is great news about dylan being a jr and hopefully will be able to return and play next year....w/ another yr in the weight room for he and chad rose..should help tremendously. if we can get some 300 pounders at the two defensive tackle spots we won't be as bad off as we think.
  20. the line this w/e dropped from 7 to 4...I guess because of the qp situation
  21. rick- I saw the game and I actually thought we played pretty well. The pass defense was soft...but for the first 3 quarters we did a pretty darn good job of stopping the run. The offense was original and clicking at many times. Through 3 quarters we were running and passing quite efficiently. Getting stuffed at the 1 was very diheartening for the team. I was proud.
  22. can't be there this week...halloween party but will have it on!
  23. wish names could be used but it's not fair to those who let me know...just take it for what it's worth...it's not like it's a big suprise....it's just sad hearing it from the mouths of our opposing coaches.
