  1. A ten team TX, LA, AR conference with the subtraction of Monroe and the addition of S. Miss and NMSU would work for me. We could call ourselves Big 12 Lite.
  2. He better keep it puckered regardless in that town.
  3. For one thing, this ain't 1776 where it took months to get here and radical Islamic terrorism outside of the Middle East was negligible at best. An incredibly mobile and changing world needs mobile rules of immigration based upon current threats.
  4. I always take several shots of tequila and streak around the block to celebrate the first day of summer.
  5. I agree with the general tone of your post, in that Trump's rhetoric is ridiculous as usual and would alienate a lot of decent people. Trump just tends to speak radically with no moderation. On the other hand, I would probably be for serious restrictions on those entering our country from countries currently in upheaval (subjective), and I suspect that the vast majority of Americans will be also as these attacks continue. Sure it's discriminatory, and I realize that it would be an extremely difficult vetting process, and that recent attacks have been homegrown, but those from designated countries without strong family ties or business purpose should probably be restricted for the time being IMO. Particularly those without a lengthy travel history to the US. In other words, lay off granting US Visa and vacation privileges to those from listed countries. I know we already do this to a certain extent, but we need to do a better job of it. Age and sex restrictions would be tough to lay down (yes, I remember San Bernadino), but it could eventually come to that. Btw, we clearly need to escalate the war against ISIL in a big way. The longer this "war" drags on, the more entrenched the radicalization is going to become worldwide. Obama needs to get on his horse and charge, instead of just pussyfooting around on the edges. Sadly, we may have no other choice.
  6. I think it's less dangerous now overall, since with the Russkies we were all either dead meat or roaming the countryside in some insane post-apocalyptic world. With the current situation, it's more about being in the wrong place at the wrong time, but I guess we do need to at least think twice before going into heavy crowd situations that are difficult to secure. On the other hand the Russian threat is still there, and it could be only a matter of time before serious terrorists get weapons of mass destruction. Who the hell really knows. I haven't felt the need to build a bunker yet, but I at least have a pretty good piece of land far away from metro/military areas in case the need arises.
  7. "Benford consistently praised Monarch for his abilities as an on-court coach and credited him for helping UNT improve productivity in fast-break situations." If what I saw of on-court coaching last year was worthy of praise, then God help us now.
  8. You're right, but killing people is also illegal and people still do it anyway.
  9. They will just declare Waco a "Rape Free Zone" and everything will be alright.
  10. It's difficult to throw gun control into this argument in a lot of ways. If this were a Texas gay bar somebody inside probably would have been packing, but who the hell knows if that would have made a difference anyway. There's really not a clearly viable solution to this kind of lunacy at this point, and that's what makes the gun issue so frustrating. To arm or not to arm, that is the question. Shakespeare?
  11. " Villarreal has agreed to step on June 20 down after more than 15 years guiding UNT’s atheltic program." June 20th is going to be crushed. Spell check must not work on Saturdays.
  12. I guess stepping down really meant pushed down. Semantics semantics.
  13. I guess he could always kill two birds with one stone by turning the sign around and work for food.
  14. I see a "Ricky V's" sports bar and buffet in his future. In Hattiesburg of course.
  15. We literally have an army of athletes to choose from yet we still can't win.
  16. We should ship them our empty Wing and they would likely fill it. It could easily pass for a Monarch, so we might as well put it to good use.
  17. or otherwise he's likely gone for the duration. We've tended to have our share of sad quarterback stories over the past few years. http://crimeblog.dallasnews.com/2016/06/mastermind-of-2007-08-uptown-burglaries-out-on-parole-loses-appeal-for-lighter-sentence.html/?_ga=1.122012939.1646358281.1465415030
  18. Climate or not, I think Ryan with his new Speaker experience is the future of the Republicans Party. He seems to have more potential to be moderate and change with the times than do some of the other possibilities. I'm not ruling out Rubio either down the road. Forget Cruz when there are viable options out there other than Trump the Chump.
  19. You're forgetting the chronic turf toe injury as well as the Mini Mac factor. Mac's love of height was no doubt an issue for him also. My last comment on the subject until we approach 2 a days, since I think it's literally impossible to resolve the issue off the field. Unless they unfortunately have off the field issues or injury of course.
  20. I agree. If we had very good basketball and decent football attendance (very solid 25k), I think we would have a chance at an offer if they decided to expand. Of course decent football attendance would require a pretty decent football team. I think a big part of any offer would be based upon our location and emerging academic reputation. Of course we appear to be a long way from any of these good things happening on the court/field, but Smatresk's UNLV history could end up being a big plus if our athletic fortunes somehow suddenly change.
  21. To me, Harrell's comments seem to indicate that Morris is the man, and I wouldn't be surprised if he's the final word on the subject. No telling what was said/promised before he transferred.
  22. Son? LOL. I know we will all keep talking about it, but it'll work out the way it works out regardless of what we all have to say. Even though I lean toward Morris, I honestly have an open mind about our QB situation. I just don't think Shanbour should be ruled out simply because he followed his dream by walking on at a crowded Okie State, rather than pursuing an FCS situation where he would likely have had a better opportunity. The guy has two years left and we shall see.
  23. Uh, last I checked Shanbour's college career is not yet over, and he in fact has two years of eligibility left to possibly become a starter. Btw, tell your brother hello for me, and I'm still pulling for him to prove that he can be our starter. Which would also be his first time as a starter by the way. And no, I'm not forgetting about that one pass at Holy Alabama.
