  1. Good point, and DD should have been bigger than what he was on playing the blame game. Fans however, need to realize that recruits are at these games and need to keep negative crap to themselves until they can address the person they are directing it at in a different place and time.
  2. Thanks guys...you're part of the reason i like UNT so much...there is a lot more good than bad at this university . I am an Okie State grad and love my university...but I would be just as proud to have graduated from UNT. I've adopted UNT because of my son and will always support the Mean Green!!
  3. I didn't sign my son did....I wanted him to sign with Arkansas or Kstate...the new facilities and Kenny Evans along with Duke Atterberry were good recruiters and the fact that UNT is a great school to get a degree at. Plus UNT just went to a bowl game for the 4th time...they also promised he would play TE and he would be playing in a new stadium by his JR year lol. Charley is graduating December 19th and he's going to enroll in graduate school to work on his masters next semester. I'm very proud of him with what he's had to go through with TD high school ball.
  4. LOL....I remember sitting in the stands when my son was being recruited and we were given free tickets to the home games. Drunk fans in the alum section would shout obscenities at DD the entire game. And this was the first losing season after going to 4 bowl games in a row. Now we were sitting at the bottom of the stands right behind DD and the team and we could here it all so I'm sure they could too. Do you think this did anything to help get players to sign with UNT and do you think DD and the existing players thought much of the fans when hearing this crap? It's no wonder DD and co. felt the way they did after hearing that crap game after game after game. I'm just sayin. You reap what you sow.
  5. The only words that come to mind when i read vito's blab is WTF!!
  6. LOL...that's funny....I bet SK has said a million times...I wish i had stayed at Tulsa....I've met him several times because he recruited both my sons....he's a great coach and a great recruiter....He just wasn't a good fit at Louisville.
  7. This guy is perfect for UNT and this is our only chance to get him
  8. no no no no.....i'm just sayin...how it should have gone and as far as being back here on this subject...again i'm just sayin.....forget I ever said anything...it's over...the point I was trying to make is: You guys should always remember to be careful what you wish for because you just might get it (up the rear). You see I had more at stake than just wanting my team to be a winner....
  9. Let's put it in words we can all understand: RV- DD fire RF and we will re-new your contract and give you a little extra....DD- No problem he's history.....
  10. He would have stayed becasue DD would have fired him, trust me on this one
  11. You guys crack me up.....you call for DD's head after he has 2 losing seasons after going to 4 bowl games in a row.....then some of you are wanting him back after your fearless leader (RV) hires this high school coach who I'm sure wishes he was back at South Lake. DD wasn't the one that needed the axe it was his OC that needed gone. Yes DD was going through some health issues brought on by his drinking mainly, but Hell dealing with UNT alum and this board will drive any coach to drink. You could probably offer DD 10 million a year and he'd tell you where to go and how to get there. I'll tell you this though....if he had not been run off and had replaced Ramone with a better OC you would have been competing with the Sun Belch and probably going bowling again. You guys should always remember to be careful what you wish for because you just might get it (up the rear).
  12. Since Robin and I traveled to all of Charley's games that he played in there was a couple of them that I would dearly love to have copy's of. I have all of them except the 2007 game at Oklahoma and the 2008 game at Kansas State. If someone could mail me a copy of these 2 games I would gladly pay for them. Just leave me a message. Thanks, MeanGreenPop
  13. I think it's funny also that someone with no coaching experience or probably playing experience either knows so much about recruiting players for D1 football that he can without a doubt put anyone and everyone down that goes against his beliefs about the game j/k. I know there are a few players out there that over come size and play bigger than they are but these players are far and few in between. Yes we have players like the ones silver eagle mentioned that have problems executing but believe me bringing in more under size players will not fix the problem. If this coach will not recruit players that can compete with other D1 mid-majors (and yes that's what we have to strive for at this point. when we can beat other mid-majors then we can try for the big boys) then he needs fired. i don't care what others say about giving him another year. You can give the man 70 years and this team will still lose. I know this will sound like sour grapes but I'll give my son as an example of this coaches wrong thinking about playing at this level. I believe like DD did and Evans as well as coaches from other D1 schools that he would have made a great TE. Indeed his freshman year he looked great at the position. Then Dodge ball comes around and he's moved to defense. The move was disastrous for my son. He was moved to DT at 260lbs and played with a lot of heart and probably was the best DT in the game for us but at his size he was bound to get hurt and that indeed is what happened. A broken hand and bulging disks in his back finished his football career at UNT. All because a new coach believed he can run an offense without TE's. I'm not against the spread but run one like OU and some of the other schools run now with TE's. I know he's had some success with the spread but look who the success came against. I'm not usually the one to put coaches down because I know it is one of the toughest jobs around but I honestly believe UNT will never win the sun belt again with Dodge at the helm. I do think Dodge can be a winning coach but he will have to change his thinking about the spread and also go after better players that includes recruiting outside of Texas. The problem is that it's to late for that now. He would have to change now and then it would be another 2 or 3 years before it would start working and his time is already ran out as far as i'm concerned. As Forest Gump would say...that's all I got to say about that.
  14. 51 tackles for a LB even a OLB is not very many and he's too small for a D1 LB to boot.
