  1. Did anyone else(Joey Byerly) notice all the academic awards received by newest members of the mean green family.
  2. Plumm I didnt mean "to the likes of UNT" in the way you took it. I meant in more in terms of having a higher profile, school size, conferences, and BCS bowl chances. I'm sure UNT has things leaning in our favor also, such as staying closer to home, and conference rings amongst others. And like NCmeangreeen stated it's tough to wait the entire season for an offer from UNT while one sits on the table from UNC.
  3. Med I agree with you totally on the front four, I think the starting four may have a shot at being better than last years. Same goes for the O-line good starters but wheres the depth? One LB you forgot about was Travis Thompson who will be in the mix.
  4. Thats one of the problems with the way that DD conducts things when it comes to recruiting. It would be nice to get a top 5 TE to start off the recruiting sesaon. But thats not how DD does things so its hard for a player to hold of on an offer from someone such as a UNC to wait to pick up offers from the likes of UNT. I know his method also has its positives but thats just one thing going against us.
  5. We only have 25 days left until camp opens up on Aug. 8? and it seems like we have more questions heading into camp this year than any of the past few years. Here are a few questions that come to mind for me: 1) The qb situation. Is Byerly eligible? Will Meager be healthy by Aug? Can Meager go through a season with getting hurt? 2) Whats going to happen at rb? Will PC and JT be used together or will they just replace one another? 3) With our lb corps being so deep and talented who will step up come fall? 4) Replacing the entire D-front who will fill those positions? 5) Can Branch perform at cb? 6) Who will take over the saftey positions? 7) Gilmore at te or de? 8) Other impact fresh to step up 9) Where's Demario?
  6. If your starting qb fails off the team you would certainly hope that the coaches would have known long ago
  7. It's kind of weird that they have Ransom as newcomer of the year but yet dont have him on the 1st team defense.
  8. It'll look even better with the new field turf installed
  9. I saw the other TE that your talking about a couple times last year and then at his schools spring game. He has good size, with room to put on more. At the spring game he had a couple of nice catches including one drive that consisted of just getting him the ball. He would be a great pick up, but he already has an offer on the table from UNC, which might be hard for us to match.
  10. Seriously yall are all jumping the gun a little early dont you think? Lets just say that Byerly is not with us next year, so who does that leave us with. DANIEL MEAGER!!! He will be fine by the time camp opens up, he has already been working out with the team durning summer workouts. And for those of you so high on Washington because of his speed, you forget a few things. Meager has amazing speed also, I think he runs around a 4.6. As a junior he was an Elite 11 nominee, he was being looked at by schools such as Va. Tech, and Cal just to name a few, was one of the top 5 qbs in TX., and has been in our system for a year already. So lets all take a step off the Korey Washington for qb bandwagon and step back into reality for a second.
  11. I'm awaiting first reports from those of you lucky enough to pick up your copies tonight(I have to wait till 7 am tomorrow). Waiting to see what the simulated season intails for UNT.
  12. I just received a phone call from an undisclosed UNT professor that stated both Sinbad and Kathy Ireland passed the summer classes required to rejoin the team for the 1st game at LSU.
  13. Lets wait to see if Joey is eligble or not, same goes for Meager he should be ready by 2 a days one would think. If for some reason neither of the two were available then we would be in troulbe. None of the fresh. QB recruits were brought in to play QB. Those 3 were brought in to play other postions. We could throw the season away if any of these kids were thrown into the starting spot, there is no way this would be a good thing. Even if they did have to start this season chances are they would lose their spot next year to either Byerly or Meager, barring some herculian effort throughout the season. But once again none of this matters because one of the two should be here for fall, Meager/Byerly.
  14. anybody have a bio on Korey Washington, everybody seems to rave about this kid. But werent we moving him to the d side.
  15. hahaha, you're a funny guy, no really you are. Jealous of Tech. Thats funny
  16. One thing I like on yalls projected o-lines is the size. Other than Rose, which isnt as big a factor, all are around 300+ lbs. Another thing is the height of these guys, gone are the days of our starters being only 6'0 or 6'1. Somebody needs to tell me more about this Banks kid. All I know is that hes a frosh. and looks to be pretty big.
  17. Enough about jumping the gun on Joey, lets talk about something that someone out there might know the answer to for sure. I know at first Demario was having a tough time getting his grades in order so Kilgore was also in the picture. I havent see him on any of the rosters so far. Is he going to be here at UNT next year or not?
  18. Sounds good to me, height and some size, thats what we are in need of at the wr postion. We need someone to be a posseion receiver, thats why everyone is so up on Stickler.
  19. 4 Days that all! I've got a lot of things to get done this weekend if I'm going to be holed up in my house playing playstation for the next 10 days. Checklist: PS2 NCAA 2006 Easy Cheese Crackers Dr. Pepper
  20. Buff64 you bring up an intresting point that I didnt think about. That being a player who may have been hurt, moved to a new school, or just simply had an off year their junior year. If they come out their senior season and put up awesome numbers they may be out of luck when the school that they wanted to attend(UT) is out of ships to offer. If you look at it in that light, thats one way that could actually help UNT as we will be there to pick them up late in the season.
  21. I have a few questions about UNT's recruiting efforts that hopefully some of you in the know(Harry,Oldtimer,Cerebus)will be able to help me out with or just let us know what you think. 1) Teams are receiving verbal commitments earlier and earlier, as Texas already has 21 verbal commitments. I realize that the bigger schools are going to get the pick of the litter but where does UNT fall in all of this. I've noticed that we know more now at this early stage than we have in past years later in the process. We already have one offer out to a QB from Mizzu but can we expect more to come? Do you expect more soon or are we going to wait till later in the game to start handing out offers? With teams already getting commitments when can we expect UNT to get its first, before the season, during, or after? 2) Also by looking at some of the prospects that have intrest in UNT or vice versa, it seems as though we already have caught some decent players eyes. What do yall expect of DD's class this year. Is this the year that we land a multiple 3* or get a 4* to come into Denton? Personally, I believe this will be DD's year to have a highly touted class, maybe top 50-75 in the nation. 3) I forget his name but whoever is in charge of recruiting OK. seems to be doing an incredible job as he has many connections there. But what type of talent can we expect this year coming from across the river?
  22. Oldtimer the TE prospect you speak of is from my old High school, Fort Bend Austin, in Sugar Land, TX. I had a chance to go their spring game this year as my little bro is going to be a soph. on the team next year. He is a big guy with some good hands as he had a couple of nice catches during his time on the field. There are also 2 other good prospects that UNT should consider looking at. It might help that UNT receiver Brandon Jackson also attend this school, so hopfully we might have an in. To answer your question on what postions need to be recruited. Get some big bodies! We have had a real tough time of getting and developing/and keeping our OL recruits. You can never have enough beef. After that go after speed and athleticisim. With those two things you can do alot by filling in needs at DB,WR,RB, and LB.
  23. Stebo thanks for pointing that out for me. Although our real bye week doesnt really help us out to much due to the fact that its so late in the season the time off between the games you pointed out should really help us.
