  1. And when some of us mentioned him as a new coach for NT, we were laughed at. Man I hope he doesnt go to SMUt.
  2. I actually don't care, as long as they have the most respectable record, and will represent the conference well. I think UL has the best chance to do that. Whoever it is, we all need to support them and cheer on the success of the conference.
  3. We've had the UNT bonfire for like 60 years now. It is the 2nd largest hand-built bonfire second only to Virginia Tech, who spends a month building it. Ours is built in a week to a week and a half. Call it a rip off if you will, I say it is a deep tradition to UNT. Call it stupid if you want, but some I my favorite times at NT were the week I spent building it.
  4. Thanks for the post and glad to have you aboard. Post here often, and if you are ever in the DFW area, catch a game. In regards to Baz, the guy can hit a 60 yarder. He did 1 or 2 years ago.
  5. Speaking of ignorant, you have to be paying someone before you can fire them. Hence the whole, "job" thing. Last time I checked, I was paying to go to the games, not being payed to attend.
  6. I did some research on the college football database and I think its actually a 7-39 OOC record. Does the fault lie with dd or rf? Well you are only as good as your leadership. I bet RV could take this talent and go 9-2 if he was coach.
  7. Speaking of Boise St, did anyone notice that their conference game winning streak came to an end? If DD and his staff had taken care of business, guess who would have owned the longest conference winning streak in the NATION. hmmmm, I have a guess.
  8. Yeah, just like the soccer team Guys, it aint the team's youth anymore. Maybe the first 2, possibly 3 games, but not anymore.
  9. Wish we could get Meager to develop. I think though Phillips should get a start in one of the last two games. Whoever starts, we will go after a QB for next year.
  10. At least one here. How much are we talking about?
  11. I recieved this e-mail from the Dallas area Manager Yesterday. I will be contacting him at some point today. Brian, The email below was forwarded to me in regards to the incident(s) that took place at UNT vs. Louisiana – Lafayette game on Saturday. If you have an opportunity could you please give me a call at my office (214-768-****) regarding these situations? I am the Branch Manager over our Dallas/Fort Worth area and expect that my employees treat guest with courtesy and respect. I would like to find out from you a little more information in regards to the situations and the exact locations and descriptions of the security staff involved. Being involved in College sporting events for most of my life I understand and appreciate the different traditions that many schools have established. At the beginning of the season UNT informed me that this year tortillas are to be considered a prohibited item at the games and should not be allowed inside the stadium. However much fun it may be throwing the tortillas after touchdowns it makes for a difficult clean up post game as well as a potential safety issues in regards to slip and falls. At the gates to the stadium my staff is directed to do bag checks for prohibited items. Being a security officer you understand that short of doing pat-downs you will never be able to stop all prohibited items from getting into the stadium. The direction I give my staff is to approach the guest and inform them that they are in possession of a prohibited item and to please put them away. If the situation happens again we reserve the right to confiscate the item or if there are problems, have them escorted out of the venue. I do direct my staff to get the NT Athletic dept involved before an eviction is to take place. I am responsible for the CSC staff that is at the gates as working as ticket takers / bag checkers and the ushers in the seating bowl. The event staff that work on the field are not associated with CSC but work for North Texas. From your email below I take it that it was my staff that was in the middle of the staff on the field and the guest. Either which way I hope my employee was performing his job with professionalism and courtesy. I sincerely hope that it was not my staff that was involved on the student side using the profanity and vulgarity. If in the case it was, I would like to know because that is not the type of person I want in my employment. As I mentioned above, please give me a call so I can get some clarity on who is who. I appreciate you bringing this matter to our company’s attention and hope to get this situation resolved quickly I will let everyone know how it goes. Stay Tuned.
  12. Yep, been saying that since last season.
  13. Here's something else. Flanny is head of recruiting for DFW. Wasn't somone saying something about why we don't get more DFW recruits? Wow, there's a shocker.
  14. That would be in the days of DeLoach.
  15. I know that the coaches probably used the typical blame-deflecting comments as usual, but does anyone know what was said by the staff? Anything referring to the flanny incident, or just on the field stuff?
  16. There are proper ways to handle those situations, and they were not even close. The way they handled it incited the fans. Quite trying to defend the yellow nazis and flanny. I dont care if Rick did throw them, or what the other fans did, you have to handle those situations the right way. Once again, where were you during the game?

Agreed. We are going to need him next season when AC (After Cobbs) begins.
  18. You're right, I should have done that last night. damonzumwalt@contemporaryservices.com He is the President and CEO of the company. I don't know if we all should e-mail him. It may annoy him to the point where he doesnt to anything. I would suggest that everyone just go to the website. There is a link to the corporate contacts right there on the front page. Click the link and there is a whole list of people. Maybe if we e-mail a bunch of the corporate people, more of them will realize the problem, and someone will do something about this. I would however, suggest that if Rick or anyone else who directly had a confrontation decides to contact the company, they contact the prez. The two incidents I mentioned were Rick's and the statement about the employee telling the fan "Get your effing sheet together or your arse will be in effing handcuffs." That was the PG version. AS I said in the e-mail, I don't know what the student was doing, and I don't care, that statement is wrong.

Asked a athletic trainer (I think) he said it was his hammy. So hopefully its not as devestating as we thought it was when we saw him with his head down on a cart.
  20. Emmitt had a great idea, and I think Im going to try this as well. If tortillas are soooooooooooooooooo dangerous like Mr Clean thinks they are, then Emmitt said he will no longer carry his weapon when on patrol. The next time he patrols, and the next time I go on duty, we are going to carry a holster full of tortillas on our duty belts. One other thing about the 2 incidents. The angels priorities are way out of whack. While everyone was taking Rick's side, a few of the angels said outloud that there was a game going on and we needed to pay attention and support the team. What the hell?! Do they not realize that the people in those sections are the donors to the program and have probably supported the program more than they have, or in some cases ever will? They have the gall to scold US? I saw some of them doing HOMEWORK during the Troy game. When flanny tried to assult Silver, one of them approached me to scold us on our behavior in front of the recruits. We find out later, that they made the comment to the extent of, "If we could get all of you to move down to the first couple of rows so we can create a good atmosphere for you, we want to create a BARRIER between you and the fans? That is complete BS! And they are so effing concerned about their precious "section" that they have pretty yellow tape around. God forbid ANYONE, including the Lord Jesus Christ himself, even put one foot in that section. They go completely ape s over it. I was moving back and forth during Rick's incident to get a better view, and I made the mistake of standing in their unfull section. When I was yelling at Mr Clean why he would try to throw me out, I didnt do anything illegal, one of those idiots yelled out, "But it is ILLEGAL to sit in our section, thank you!" They are more concerned that noone sit in the pretty little section than the actual game. They are so proud that they have pretty little yellow caution tape over it. The Talons can't even get their section roped off, yet they have done more for this university than the angels ever will. I know some of the Angels will read or hear about this, so let me make it clear, Its the actions of a FEW that are giving them a bad name. I am not saying that its the entire organization. And to those who want to protect their little section, here is an idea. YOU FILL IT WITH RECRUITS, THEN YOU WONT HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT ANYONE SITTING IN THE HALF EMPTY SECTION!
  21. Probably because we were down by 14 at the half, they saw a coach who was trying to recruit them trying to assult a fan, and one of the biggest supporters of the program being temporarily removed for something as miniscule as tortillas. At least one recruit liked the passion of the alumni, from what I hear. I heard he was the only one who stayed.
  22. I put this in another thread, but I want to repost it so more will see it. Again, I know that some may take this as I have an ego, tooting my own horn, etc, but it needs to be said: I do want to point something out to everyone, even though I know some will take it as I have an ego. The people in the yellow shirts ARE NOT SECURITY. They have no formal training, nor do they hold any licensing from the State of Texas Private Security Board. Even though I don't plan on doing it for long, I am proud of what I do now, which IS security, for the courthouse. I do have formal training and I take my job very seriosuly. Its aholes like Mr Muscles that give real security officers a bad name. They have a false sense of empowerment, and believe that they hold the same powers of a peace officer. REAL security do not, as they understand their job is to assist peace officers, and they understand their powers and limitations within the law. I'm sorry to go off on the subject, it just bugs me. But the yellow shirts ARE NOT SECURITY!!!! Just want to be sure that all understand.
  23. You would also know what was coming, where, and how to stop it.
