  1. Temple, UTSA, UAB. Pick one or two but that's about it.
  2. Defense did better than I thought, we just didn't make the plays needed in the end. Still looks like a 4-8 team, at least Temple will be at home next week.
  3. I'm listening on the radio and they didn't make that clear. Regardless, all the penalties were on them tonight. Edit: it was to try and draw them offside, it was 4th and 4 and losing 5 more yards to punt was a benefit if it didn't work.
  4. Defense has given up about half the points I thought they would.
  5. Badass. They'll certainly pause the game for this, there's no way you want a receiver or a punt returner looking up for the ball when this happens.
  6. It's too early to really grade but our defense sucks. Embarrassing loss to FIU and giving up that many points to a FCS team. Our home games are favorable: Temple, UTSA, UAB, but every road game will be a big uphill battle and we'll probably see some games that rival Cal's total sadly.
  7. 5 of 13 on 3rd down conversions against a FCS team
  8. Houston, apparently. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/North_American_University
  9. They are building to keep up with the Jones's, plain and simple. Just like all these big ISDs are when it comes to football. There's nothing that says your football team will lose games if your new facilities seat 10k instead of 15k, or the locker rooms have 20 SEER air conditioners instead of 14. Just look at the SW Triangle of Dallas County and compare their success with the Katys and McKinneys and whoever else wants to build palaces for their high schoolers.
  10. Sorry, but that's my point. I know they built in 82 when things were cheaper, I'm saying that even though they blew up in popularity they haven't shelled out $70 or $100 million for a new one. If UT Peanut Butter uses their field and is going D-1, then my post is moot because then you're talking about a much different kind of shared facility in that scenario.
  11. Permian has had a book, movie, and tv show made about their football team and even they don't spend this kind of money on a stadium.
  12. And Frisco closed some after a bond issue failed only to keep opening up new schools later on. Plano closing a few because of demographic changes doesn't mean the entire ISD is shutting down.
  13. You went from 20 years to the end of the 21st century. It's probably somewhere in between and it'll be because of the heat. Even if all the ice caps melted the shore line still wouldn't get halfway to Denton. We won't be playing any more away games in Boca Raton though lol.
  14. I didn't say they were. But they do have the advantage of being in the middle of the market and not the periphery. They also have the advantage of having lots of extremely rich old alumni. Except for Houston they are all bigger in terms of fan support, alumni base, and a history of being in power conferences, especially in the DFW area. UNT was small beans in every way compared to those schools until the late 90's. Don't disagree, and I don't make any excuses for that. I was just commenting on how the sports radar works in Dallas/Fort Worth.
  15. It doesn't help that we are in a position where we're completely overshadowed by the DFW market. After pro sports and bigger schools take their share of the pie there is little attention paid to whatever is happening in Denton. I don't know what the culture of incoming freshman is these days, but I was pretty shocked at how many of my new college friends couldn't give a shit about athletics when I lived on campus, which was weird considering most all had come from public high schools in Texas, where Friday nights were always reserved for one specific thing in the community.
