  1. Wow ... I'm just impressed with the Garo Yepremian reference!
  2. When did West Virginia become part of the South? Didn't they become West Virginia so they wouldn't have to be part of the South?
  3. Everybody on this thread is acting like this is some big surprise (?) How many schools has this guy been at?

  5. Vacating wins is the dumbest punishment the NCAA can dole out. What's the big bad NCAA going to do? Send a rep to Lafayette to reclaim the bowl trophy? Oh wait ... I forgot, the bowls aren't even owned by the NCAA. They're just "sanctioned" by them. No records should change.
  6. I feel sorry for 'em ... http://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/ncaaf/sunbelt/2016/03/01/sun-belt-football-idaho-new-mexico-state-leaving/81159780/
  7. I can't believe I'm jumping into this crap, especially when this topic really needs it's own thread, but here goes ... I do not personally hate any SMU alums as I don't know any. And attending games at Ford Field has never been a problem. Most of the fans I encountered, while being quite overdressed, were relatively harmless. HOWEVER, I do have a major problem with the condescending, ivory-tower attitude of that Bush-loving administration! UNT's hate for SMU is well documented and well deserved. Many of the issues have been mentioned here, including the cock-blocks back in the 1970s and in 2005, but I will mention another one. In 2003, UNT had the national rushing champion in Patrick Cobbs. The guy wasn't even a finalist for the Doak Walker Award! Now, if you want to make the argument that he didn't win due to strength of schedule, that's fine, I can understand that. But to be left off the list entirely! That was not a coincidence! Example #2 In 2004, UNT once again had the nation's leading rusher in Jamario Thomas. The eligibility requirements for the award were changed mid-season so freshmen could win the award. But this was only done so that Adrian Petersen could be eligible. Once again, the nation's leading rusher was completely left off the list. WTF?! To reiterate: I've got no problem with Tommy Hilfiger, uh I mean SMU fans. But as far as the administration goes ... they can all go you know where!!!
  8. Not really a historic moment, but a great play: 2004 UNT vs. Utah State at Logan, Utah. T.J. Covington (a very underrated cornerback by the way) takes a fumble return 110 yards for a touchdown. I was at that game and I remember my friend and I were jumping and yelling among all the shocked Aggie fans. Great moment!
  9. Sue 'em! The lawsuit itself will put UNT in the news for a change.
  10. I agree, good for Mike! He's a quality individual who played with a lot of um ... shall we say non-quality individuals at Nebraska.
  11. Good for Dirk! Still want him back in the college game however.
  12. I agree. I prefer someone telling me the truth, good or bad, in any situation. Personally, I'd like to hear more honesty from recruits and coaches.
  13. Good topic for the offseason! I think anybody at least half-sane has to go with BSU at #1. At the bottom is Idaho and NMSU. I'll give the edge to Idaho, however, just because they've been to one bowl game since the demise of the Big West. I believe NMSU has the longest current bowl drought of any FBS team. In the middle I think you have a jumbled mess. North Texas and Utah State are tied with five bowl appearances since 2001. Arkansas State actually has seven. Overall records since 2001: Arkansas State 91-93 Utah State 74-109 North Texas 64-115 Now, I would argue those records could be skewed a little bit, given the level of competition each team played. But my final analysis: 1. Boise State 2. Arkansas State 3. Utah State 4. North Texas (unfortunately) 5. Idaho 6. NMSU
  14. Favorite part of the presser: RV making a sly move on another man's wife. Then, being the silver fox that he is, backs it up with flowers for his own wife. Well played Rick ... well played. ;) Least favorite part of the presser: everything after that.
  15. I don't need Wikipedia to tell me that Odus Mitchell was the greatest coach in North Texas history. Giving him any kind of honor would be fabulous. I think North Texas should also celebrate George Herring as well. If you don't know who that is, just know that he is a very unheralded war hero that UNT should've been celebrating a long time ago.
  16. "If you got a guy on offense that throws like Edward Scissorhands, we're gonna be playing a hell of a lot of defense." "Iron-man football with this bunch of patsies? Come on ... you're taking too many pills." "You can call me Walter."
  17. I love how time has suddenly healed old wounds. It was never the QB draw. It was the RB draw on 3rd and long.
  18. I guess I'm old now, but why the hell do our current defensive linemen have face masks like running backs? D-linemen need to have the full cage. It used to be that you could tell what position a player played just by his face mask. Man, I miss college! I'd be happy to make copies of 2002-2003 for you if you could make copies of 2005-2006.
  19. Just to remind myself what a good defense looks like.
