All right, all right....all is starting out right for the offseason!

East Carolina's schedule and North Texas's schedule show a different approach to pre-conference play. UNT's is much stronger. ECU looked soft to me, although I am not an expert on the good teams if they are not ranked. I hope this tough pre-conference schedule reaps benefits for us. Sweep is a good start! GMG

Lots of positive comments from ESPN+ announcers about our fan turnout for the game and all the Green in the stands. Thanks to those who were able to attend. GMG

I have been noticing the (RV) ahead of the Florida Atlantic name in articles recently and have no idea what that means. Can someone enlighten me?

Do you mean they are already receiving significant NIL money or that there is money available for WBB to offer them a competitive NIL offer if some other school comes calling?

Watching on ESPN+ and the game keeps skipping back 10 to 12 seconds. Anyone else experiencing that?
Yes, has done that for the last 3 games I have watched. However, today I checked and it was only happening on my smart TV. Computer and phone were smooth with no problem. Don't know enough about tech to know what the problem might be. Sure makes the game hard to watch though which is why I had my computer and phone ready to go today.

With our WBB doing so well this year, it will be hard to match our current experience next year. I believe we lose Kernal and Robinson since they are graduate transfers. Lampkin, I believe, has a COVID year left if she wants to use it. Wooten is also a good, young player that should draw interest from other schools. I wonder if we have NIL money available to use for WBB to keep these two players? I know Lampkin has a child and will likely need money so NIL would be important. Wooten is just a redshirt freshman who was out with injury last year. She is a star in the making.
Hope we can keep these two players and have a good recruiting class...will be hard to replace Kernal and Robinson! We need to keep one of our most successful programs to stay that way! NIL for them, please.

Channel 8 gave a "shoutout" to our WBB program's record-setting number of wins on last night's sports segment. Was nice to hear it publicized in the local media. Now let's beat Memphis and get part of the conference championship! GMG

UNT scored a decisive 4-1 victory over conference foe and #70 ranked UTSA today in Denton. Great win.
Next up in always tough UTA in Arlington on Wednesday, followed by #54 ranked Liberty and Wichita State in Palm Springs, CA, on March 11-12. Let's keep up the momentum heading toward the conference tournament! GMG

Hate that we always have a home game Thanksgiving weekend when the students are out.
Actually November 23rd is the weekend before Thanksgiving. Do students get off the entire week these days?

Job well done, Rick, for both the fire department and UNT athletics...now you have more time to spend on your desired passions! Will always remember you taking my nephew to spend a day/night at the fire department when he became interested in being a fire fighter...still one of the highlights of his life! Didn't go that route but he was so impressed and you only knew me as fellow Mean Green fan. Thanks and congratulations to a great guy!

Looking at the ITA rankings as of today (they only show rankings for the top 75):
#37 SMU #38 Memphis Tied at #61: Charlotte and UTSA
We have played two conference foes thus far this spring, losing to FAU 1-4 and USF 3-4
Upcoming matches with confernce foes UTSA (March 2 at UNT), Wichita State, Rice, Charlotte, Tulane, Tulsa, Temple
It will be interesting to see if we can pull out some wins to avoid playing one of the very top seeds in the first round of the conference tournament at SMU in mid-April. Going to be tough with such a young team this year, but you never know!

We may have had a somewhat soft schedule in the fall, but it has definitely changed for the spring season. Last weekend we faced #39 FIU, losing 1-6, and #49 Grand Canyon, losing 0-4. Next up is #61 UTSA next Saturday.
Coach Stone will be on tomorrow's noon Mean Green Coaches Show to discuss her young team. I will be interested in hearing what she has to say. Turn in to the Varsity Network or KHYI 95.3 to hear the broadcast if you are not attending.

Coach Amanda Stone will join basketball coaches Jason Burton and Ross Hodge, as well as women's basketball player Tommisha Lampkin, on the Monday (Feb. 26) Mean Green Coaches Show at Rudy's in Denton at noon. If you can't attend you can listen live on the Varsity Network or KHYI 95.3. The Varsity Network also archives its shows for later listening if needed. She will discuss the status of this year's tennis team in her first year as coach.

All teams will play in tournament seeding based on ITA Ranking since the AAC does not play a full round robin schedule.
I am thinking SMU, Memphis, Tulsa and Rice will be the Teams to beat this year. Charlotte would be a darkhorse.

young but very talented and will fight to the end, have the right coaches in place, will just take time for the freshmen to gain confidence
Do all teams play in the AAC Tournament? Seeding based on conference record? Where is it being held?

The league-leading UNT Women (18-5/8-3) take on FAU (8-15/3-9) tonight at 6:00 on ESPN+. We need to take care of business as there are 5 teams only one game behind us with 4 conference losses. GMG!

Hope you will be there and able to give us feedback on how the team is looking compared to earlier in the year.

Was able to watch a little of the last part of the USF match on ESPN+. The tennis facility looked awesome. We looked overmatched in the part I saw, but must be good in doubles. We are a young team and I hope they improve with coaching.

Nothing on WFAA 10:00 sports report, not even the score.
Channel 11 had a nice story and video, whereas Channel 5 had a short video and said it "was the first time UNT had beaten SMU in 21 years" making it sound like they played and UNT lost every year rather than this being the first time they met in 21 years...very misleading!

Wish these two grad transfers Burton brought over from his old school had another year! Lampkin & Kernal are probably the two best players in the AAC!
This is Lampkin's 4th year at North Texas. You may be thinking of Dyani Robinson.

Played USF earlier in the year and lost a close match 3-4 so could be interesting. #12 seed UNT vs #5 seed USF. ECU was the #13 seed and the final score didn't show how close it had gotten. UNT won the doubles point and the first two singles matches in straight sets to go up 3-0, but the remaining matches went into the 3rd set and could have gone either way. Our #6 player pulled out a 6-4 third set to clinch the match, leaving 2 matches on the court still in the 3rd set. Good win for our young team. Hope it translates into some confidence tomorrow...they will need it! GMG
