Someone, I think @BillySee58, mentioned our small graduating class of ten seniors in another thread.  Throw Aune in with that group, since he stated this will be his final year, and we know of eleven spots available in this next class not counting on transfers, etc.  We currently have commitments from five high school players.  Assuming they all stick, do you all think we go the transfer portal for the remaining spots in this class?  Our junior class is also small, eleven players including Aune, as well.  I would think this is the direction we take, along with the JUCO route, to help balance the roster.

Is Aune deciding to come back set in stone?  He is listed as a junior on the roster.

With no communication between coaches and players... it's nearly impossible to be coached well. You are so right. He will have the figure it out on his own and actually have coaches to support him along with the rest of the team. A team is only has good as the way they are lead...

Also when all is said and done, you could have the best QB in the nation and not have any other kind of depth on the team and that QB would look terrible. Maybe reconstruction is needed. Honestly, this is a lot deeper than who the QB is.

I mean if this is happening like you say and I do believe you Wren really needs to step up here and get involved.

Its a very tough reality. I learned this many, many years ago here. You cannot want to win MORE than the administration and leadership of the university. To expect more than we typically get is insanity. Its why I always tell people to enjoy the occasional 9-win season around here, as that has been well-proven to be our ceiling in Denton. Since 1995, when we got back to FBS, we have had 27 seasons--we have won 9 games 4x, which represents the highest win totals we have ever had. We have had exactly 6 winning seasons. We have played in two different stadiums, had 6 head coaches, three different ADs, countless numbers of Presidents, and have played in 3 different conferences (with another to come). No matter who, where, or when you look back on all of this, it adds up to suckitude.

And I will forever believe that the point where this place was completely buried was the asinine decision to go down to FCS (I-AA) in 1982 and kept us there for 12 years. We literally nuked our fanbase of alums for 5 decades (50s thru the 90s) who would be at a place in life to actually be funding and willing assets to the program, like every other major school does. While we may be getting revived here and there, the reality is that our corrupted body can't ever really get so much better that it can win at any contest against others who are healthier and stronger.

As I have said often, you either keep coming back for more pain or you go away like the other 98% of the UNT Alumni. Its why the other P5 schools have more fans with UNT degrees than we have ever had

God bless you Jim you have a way with words and you are one of my favorite posters because you can put into words what many of us are feeling.

Drove by the Holiday Inn Convention Center here in Bowling Green, KY last night.

Surprised to see that the Austin Peay football team was already here for Saturday's game against WKU despite being only 61 miles from WKU.

Tyson Helton stated on his radio show that he thought AP/WKU game would be a fight and a four quarters game.

I think today is AP's Super Bowl of sorts.

Ashamed to admit I figured Austin Peay was in Austin!  Learned something new on here 😂
