  1. Go to the tourney... You can drink a whole lot with some great North Texas fans until 5AM (which is plenty late enough) and you don't have to see any 60+ year olds running around flashing everyone in sight. Now, if we get back to the New Orleans Bowl soon, I highly recommend that trip. College bowl games bring a lot of students, and the beads thing is not just for Mardi Gras. I'm sure you get my drift.
  2. Well said Emmitt. And for those that aren't aware, this team is now 10-2.
  3. That might be the craziest thing I've ever seen at a sporting event.
  4. A win is a win, especially for a team that really needed one.
  5. One thing that stood out to me was the emergency conference in New Orleans when all of these rules were laid out. Only 6 teams voted against the new Death Penalty rules, 3 of them in the old Southwest Conference. SMU, Houston, and Texas voted against it. At least Houston and Texas were smart enough to stop (or at least not get caught). I didn't realize how much cheating was going on in that old conference.
  6. Where will you be? I may come over for a little to watch if you don't mind.
  7. This is my second year to be a member of the Mean Green Club. I didn't get a card last year, but I did receive a card in the mail on Saturday.
  8. Myself, MeanGreenSoho, and another friend will be up there.
  9. 30% chance between 3-5 PM. http://www.weather.com/outlook/health/fitness/hourbyhour/40901:20?begHour=8&begDay=254
  10. It is easy to buy tickets on gameday, but did anyone notice that tickets purchased on gameday this year are an extra $5?
  11. 3-2 http://football.stassen.com/cgi-bin/records/all-opp.pl?start=1869&end=2009&team=North+Texas&sort=a
  12. Cooking burgers, hot dogs, spicy brats, and corn on the cob. Gotta go pretty basic for the first game.
  13. The game is at 2:30 CENTRAL time. This is my favorite TV schedule site: http://www.lsufootball.net/tvschedule.htm
  14. I'm not saying they have or will. I definately don't think they will. But, the farther we can keep them down, the better.
  15. I agree 100% Another reason to go in and kill the WAC now is to keep them from inviting Texas St. and UTSA at some point in the future and "passing us by." It would be beneficial for our program to keep them out of the rebuilt WAC.
  16. You took the words right out of my mouth.
  17. I'll be there. Running the 5K with the wife.
  18. They were talking about this on the Ticket about an hour ago too.
  19. This message board and sports websites all over the country are full of rumors citing "credible" sources as to what is likely about to be a major event in college athletics. So.... how do we know what to believe? We don't. We just have to sit back and wait for the official announcements. With that said, what's your dream scenario? Where do you want North Texas to be when this is all said and done? What's your biggest fear? Personally, I think the demise of the Big 12 is the best thing that can happen from a publicity standpoint for North Texas, especially if the teams split. Some of the latest reports have UT and A&M going to the Big 10, Oklahoma St to the Pac 10, and OU to the SEC. This would split the media coverage so much around here that has been controlled by the Big 12 for the last 14 years. Could a more regional conference actually gain the media coverage and fan support in the DFW area? Let's say the Big 12 is left with 6: Iowa St, Missouri (why would the Big 10 need Missouri if it has Nebraska, Texas, and A&M?), Kansas, K-State, Baylor, and Texas Tech. The Big 12 will probably remain a conference (it retains its AQ status I believe) and fills in the holes. It's possible they want us, a large private school to keep the DFW market. If they don't take any metroplex schools, it's likely the DFW market won't care about the Big 12 anymore. Maybe they take all 3 + Rice, Houston, and Tulsa. Let's say we get skipped over here, which is quite possible, but the Big 12 has just taken a good portion of the CUSA West. Does CUSA raid the Sun Belt of its West members, or do they fully merge, especially if the Big East takes some of the Eastern members? Either way, I think if the Big 12 split goes in multiple directions and the Big 12 keeps 6 schools together, I think they rebuild and that may be the best thing that can happen for us because we either become a part of the new Big 12, the new MWC, the new CUSA, or a merged CUSA/Sun Belt. Thoughts?
  20. It will sure be interesting to see where all of the dominoes fall.
  21. I'll throw in $10 if that helps his decision.
  22. The Big 12 has now cancelled its press conference scheduled for this evening. http://sports.espn.go.com/ncaa/news/story?id=5248220
  23. I would be interested, depending on the date of the game. I wanted to participate in my first GMG Bowl this year, but the date simply didn't work for me.
