C-USA Championship game attendance historically
MDH replied to Jonnyeagle's topic in Mean Green Football
The correlation is b/t hosts and their typical fan attendance/support. FAU can't (won't) ever fill to capacity like a UCF, Houston, ECU would. -
We just need to renovate the pit not build a new one
MDH replied to Tom McKrackin's topic in Mean Green Basketball
Right pocket, left pocket. -
Well, this is better for La Tech. I'm sure this makes them extra angry about the SHSU addition.

What is in a name?
MDH replied to MCMLXXX's topic in The Eagles Nest (There Should be Pie For Everyone Forum)
I have to smile that this, like all things, turned into a big political divide. I think their new name does wonders for their branding and marketing. I actually knew Dixie State was in St George (many didn't until recently). In a similar vein, I just learned this week that Jacksonville State isn't in Florida. Names are a big deal! -
I mean I take anything either say with a grain of salt so they do have that similarity.

Anyone know if AAC contract with ESPN states what days of the week our games will be played on? I'd hate to find ourselves in this situation one day...

2022 Winter Olympics
MDH replied to UNTLifer's topic in The Eagles Nest (There Should be Pie For Everyone Forum)
The supply chain issues of late prove why we must keep China at arms length. Cable news pundits can talk a big game wrt China, and much is warranted, but supply chains are a matter of national security. China knows this, the US knows this, and it's exactly why Washington is only so tough, both sides, with them. -
While I'd love to have him, I'm realistic about our chances here.

MWC is the strongest G5 with AAC losses to big 12. SBC has recency bias going for them, but please tell me their strongest win OOC. Kansas?? ESPN has created this perception for them. Mwc is .500 against the pac 12 this year with 8 games played. MWC>>new AAC>SBC>MAC

I'd love more PAC-12 scheduling. They get TX recruiting, we get beatable P5s.

No way. We/Me is probably the worst part of it.

AAC Basketball team evaluation from a hoops perspective
MDH replied to Coach Andy Mac's topic in Mean Green Basketball
That's a sniff test analysis at best. I agree, OOC is a good gauge but not the only. -
Can the AAC exits nudge (pay) the remaining C-USA members to join other conferences by giving them $ to play road games in the future? We really need G5>G4 consolidation. Exit fees propping up a conference only to call upon schools that shouldn't be in FBS is senseless for the greater good of FBS football. NMSU, FCS call ups to C-USA thanks to our exit fees are dumb.
-
I don't like spending $ because we have it when there may be something better to save for or spend on. I don't think SP holds us back in any way like Fouts did.

Boise, Fresno, San Diego, Nevada, Utah st have all been ranked multiple times and beat P5 in football and basketball so frequently it’s rarely a headline as an upset. As someone who has been to multiple MWC stadiums and multiple New AAC stadiums there’s a fairly large gap in attendance and talent in the top programs.

Fresno st remembers

I think other directional schools having found success (UCF, USF) have helped shake the negativity towards this. Boise State, Fresno State, Coastal Carolina aren't exactly sexy land grant names either.

With small samples you can't really use averages, especially with outliers such as KU and UTA. I still wouldn't use avg here but removing those 2 gives an avg of 96. The median is 90.5. Long story short: we've got some tough OOC opponents.

Feels about right given our roster losses. Saved you all some work: CUSA ahead of us: 76. La Tech 80. UAB 85. WKU 127. UNT CUSA behind us: 133. Marshall 152. UTEP 160. ODU 169. Rice 177. FAU 193. Charlotte 212. Southern Miss 230. UTSA 241. Middle Tennessee 281. FIU

After topping Illinois and Memphis we have the highest probability of them looking past us rather than being their super bowl.

football wouldn't be much better. The argument is that MWC raises our recruiting profile. To the extent it doesn't....might not be pretty.
