  1. Another way to look at it is he pulled him about a year too late.

  3. Clock management would be nice. Maybe if we kneel on the ball, we could take a little more time off the clock and really ice that Arkansas State victory.
  4. Took me a while to find this one... Where was the ninjaface? Too bad about Quinn, and I can't believe that this didn't make news anywhere. What happened? When did it happen? How did Vito and everyone else miss it?
  5. Isn't mud Arkansas' main export? Give away the secret, and you'll devastate the Arkansas economy!
  6. ...and the quality of the smack talk just skyrocketed. This is one of the best oneliners I've ever read. Take notes, you mongoloid mud-dwelling trolls. If this man isn't your governor, then you should load everyone in the wagon on election day and ride down to the courthouse. Not the outhouse, but the place you have to go when you get arrested for molesting the farm animals. Write his name in on the ballot. His basic literacy skills and occasional cleverness are a shining example for the rest of your backwater state. Learn from this man. Just because you may have opposable thumbs, and that's assuming that you haven't lost them in some sort of farm implement accident, doesn't mean you need to stop evolving completely. I look forward to Sunday. We'll be celebrating a victory, the rest of the Clampetts will have retreated to their shanties, and Arkstfan will be the only one still here.
  7. Don't even waste your time learning to spell... it obviously isn't necessary to earn a degree from Arkansas State University. Why bother to learn how to spell simple english words like "coming" or "You're"? That just wastes valuable time that could be better spent courting a relative. Or, if you happen to be an Animal Husbandry major, time spent trying to chase down one of the animals in the barn. Go Mean Green.
  8. Not addressing Gramma here, just using the quote for point of reference. If Dickey said this on a radio interview, we'd be all over him about the constant negativity and poor public relations. "We're not a top 25 team yet" from the mouth of Dickey would be seen as the 'woe is me' attitude and an example of him badmouthing the school's situation.
  9. Idaho is currently 4-3 overall. They've beaten Idaho State, Utah State, New Mexico State, and Louisiana Tech. Combined record for those opponents: 6-19. They've lost to Oregon State, Washington State, and Michigan State. Combined score in those games: 121 to 27. If Erickson coached here and his name was Dennis Dickey, we'd be screaming for his head after a 38-0 embarassment at Oregon State. That's if he hadn't already been fired after the 56-10 spanking delivered by Washington State. Don't let the score fool you- it wasn't that close. The TD came in garbage time. So, here we are, singing the praises of a coach who manages to squeak by the dregs of his conference but can't seem to win, or even stay competitive, in OOC games against regional opponents. Man, if only we could get a coach like that to replace Dickey. Because, you know, he can only manage to squeak by our conference opponents and doesn't deliver many big OOC wins. We can only settle for that if it's another coach walking the sidelines. If we were playing Idaho's schedule, we'd have nearly identical results. The only question mark is La Tech, and that's only a question because of our dismal game against them last year. And this year's results show that La Tech is NOT the same team they were last season. I expect us to beat them in 3 weeks. So, good for Idaho. If their success is our benchmark... we are there. One OOC win (over a 1AA team that's 0-2 in the BIG SKY CONFERENCE) and a few wins over the dregs of the conference. Talk to me about Idaho after they play Boise St., Fresno St., Hawaii, San Jose St., and Nevada. If Idaho finishes the season any better than 6-6... I'll be amazed.
  10. Hey, even if the story is offensive futility... I'd be happy to see featured highlights on Sportscenter for a North Texas victory. And nobody, not even Mrs. Dickey, will point to this win as the response to Dickey critics. This win doesn't save ANYONE'S job if they were already on shaky ground. But what about Strock? Given that they'll almost certainly go 0-8 at least... is he fired?
  11. It only took Meager 7 plays from inside the 6 yard line to lead us to a touchdown. Go Mean Green!!
  12. Any way we can add Southern Miss to the SMU/K-State conspiracy? Is there any room left in that black helicopter??
  13. Well put. Succinct, too, at a mere 29 words. You're right- for some reason, we can't execute our offense of choice. Anyone know why some of the younger OLinemen aren't getting on the field? I know Peachey has played some, but I haven't seen or heard anything about Banks hitting the field. I know how excited everyone has been about his potential... why aren't we seeing him in action?
  14. !?!? Can't we get a fluffy kitten joke or unstable homoerotic comment? You've changed, Quoner. You've changed.
  15. On the halftime show, he looked like he's in the middle of chemotherapy. I feel bad for all he's gone through, and I'm a big supporter of his. But, problems aside, if he can't get the job done anymore, he should be replaced. I support him, but not to the detriment of the team.
  16. Nice sack, and the first two offensive plays were good. Otherwise... I think the forecast calls for a 75% chance of falling sky. Doesn't look good so far.
  17. Very true about the next two games telling us where we stand relative to our past success. I think we'll win both of them, but if we don't... that's a VERY bad sign.
  18. I thought this was going to be a callout thread for GMG posters. Good thing we haven't degenerated to the point where we just take shots at each other. In this thread, at least.
  19. Not trying to take a shot at you, SilverEagle, just quoting the post to set up my point. Two years ago, Jamario was our second string RB. Then, Cobbs got hurt and he won the national rushing championship. Second string doesn't necessarily mean second-rate.
  20. Sept. 2, 2006 at North Carolina Sept. 9, 2006 Illinois Sept. 16, 2006 Ohio Sept. 23, 2006 Howard I think that if we played the same schedule, we'd probably be 2-2, or maybe still just 1-3. Illinois and UNC are pretty lousy teams for their conferences, but they still play Big 10 and ACC ball. I don't think Troy or FIU would be much better. But, even if any of the three pulled off the 4-0 start, it still wouldn't result in a top 25 ranking. Congrats to Rutgers on the hot start... but I think they're being graded on a curve.
  21. Maybe this will, if not silence, at least quiet one of the biggest B.S. questions thrown around on this board. Who cares about winning the Sun Belt? RECRUITS. Guys like Dawson, who has stepped in not just admirably, but EXCEPTIONALLY for arguably our best defensive player. He passed up a Big 12 offer that was perhaps better than what we offered him. Even if it's a rationalization rather than a reason for coming here, he at least says that the conference championships were a factor.
  22. As anyone sitting near me on Saturday heard- I love Woody. But maybe we should slow down the groundbreaking on his pedestal. I half expect to log on to the board and see the photoshoppers move on from Uncle Sam to Jesus. I'm very excited, too... but let the guy get his second win before we start pinning our CUSA hopes on him.
  23. Pistole looked pretty good in terms of pursuit and awareness on the last drive. His attempt at Center and the hustle he showed in garbage time is pretty encouraging.
  24. Old timers... back when Eppy roamed the earth, was it a donkey in that costume or something? Or, are the Journalism and English departments just on extended summer break?
  25. Wow... Welcome to GoMeanGreen.com, man. Get ready to read the same 3 stories about stuff that happened (or, ALMOST/SHOULD HAVE happened) decades ago. At least this SMU game is from 1990, when everyone on this board was alive. That's relatively recent history compared to some of the things you're going to read. Also, to help you get up to speed: -The University of Texas is not to be supported -Darrell Dickey is the anti-Christ -Kansas State and SMU are working together in a vast shadow conspiracy to undermine our athletic program and destroy the charming/slummy history of Fry Street -UTEP, USF, UCF, Boise State, Texas State, Appalachian State, and the North Dakota School of Hair and Nail Care are all rocketing past us in Division 1-A Football. It's Darrell Dickey's fault, or Lee Jackson's. Depends on which authority you weren't asking, but decided to tell you anyway. -Whatever you do, DO NOT CRITICIZE Ramon Flanagan. Just don't do it. It may look like he can't organize an attack ON the field, but he can be far more aggressive off of it. There's a lot more you need to know, but you'll have to pick it up on your own. Just remember: Quinn + Boner = Quoner. It's a mathematical fact.
