    Yep.

They want an NIL?  I want a list of what players are being paid what amount and how their name, image or likeness is being used to earn these dollars. The fans give this money so we have a right to know.
These kids entering the portal and signing elsewhere, I want to know what we offered/paid and what the new school is paying. Too much secrecy when the fan base is paying the salaries.

    Excellent post!

It’s inconceivable that we are to blindly give money into a system that has no obligation or requirement to account for the allocation of those funds.

    Kind of like the government.

    No thanks.

    Wait...

You didn't expect him to say that we're merging with the SEC?

This is the problem with UNT athletics! Our fanbase has such low expectations!

Fanbase? What fanbase? Even the hardcore followers on gmg are walking away. Very little interest or traffic anymore.  Covid, the portal, NIL and the economy have all taken a hit on what little fan base we had.
Ignoring, or excluding your most ardent supporters during Spring Practice was a pretty shallow decision as well.
I guess when we start the season 6-0 the fans will magically start to show up at Datcu.

The same way Seth doubled and tripled down on high school recruiting, zigging when other FBS coaches were zagging, we have doubled and tripled down on our DC suddenly becoming competent and our front players making huge jumps in one off season. We were bottom ten in damn near every defensive metric related to the front last year and added a handful of players who in the best case scenario will somehow be players from day one at age of 18/19 and somehow not transfer at season end. We also lost a (undersized) DE who at least ranked highly in pass rush win rate, have no impact players who had their season cut short making a comeback, the roster construction and plan for defense just doesn’t make sense and we all can see it.

They didn’t even try, very few offers went out to portal DL/LB. 131 FBS schools will be scouring the portal for late entries on the DL, even the ones with depth. You cannot tell me their plan was to wait until after spring to shore up the front. This is Todd Dodge levels of arrogance thinking there will be improvement.

AND we pay our DC handsomely for these services😂

l’d like to say Morris is gambling big time on keeping a DC who’s defense ranked last in the FBS. But then I remind myself that this is North Texas and years of evidence prove there really aren’t any consequences for mediocrity or even failure.

  4. There is nothing worse than watching a BB game on TV when all you can hear are two mundane announcers describing what you are watching because they have muted the crowd noise and with it the excitement and atmosphere of the game itself.

If those announcing the game have to speak louder to overcome the excitement of the crowd than so be it.

Stop with the boring presentation.  If I wasn’t an alumni and was surfing to see what was on and came across the sound of just two guys describing a basketball game I’d keep surfing.

Market the program. Take advantage of the opportunity to sell the university.

But alas, we are North Texas.

…….and yes I like Draper. Not his fault

  5. The problem is, we needed a real coach. Someone who could analyze the situation, fill the gaps where needed and implement a system that best utilized the talent we had. What we got was an individual who relied on his P5 employer attracting the needed talent at Iowa St.
He knows nothing else. He’s limited in his knowledge and implemented the only system he was familiar with. Unfortunately his lack of expertise cost this team a bowl game and maybe even a chance at the AAC title.
Hiring P5 coaches is not necessarily a good thing. Many are incapable of thinking outside the box at the G5 level.

Did you write your check to buy him out?

Why would I write a check to buy him out? I’m not the one who carelessly hired him, then foolishly signed him to a contract of 40,000k a month and then sat by and watched all season as he continued to try and force a square peg into a round hole.
