  1. You have the right to protect your person and property. Use of force is justified when a person reasonably believes that it is necessary for the defense of oneself or another against the immediate use of unlawful force. However, a person must use no more force than appears reasonably necessary in the circumstances. That said, Artest going intot he stands maybe inciting a riot
  2. RC Slocum and aTm?! Are we talking about the same aTm who has 5 times our Mens Athletic Operating Budget? If aTm didnt like Slocum, they could afford to go and get someone like Franchione, I dont see any sure things out there on our budget. Shaft is right, this is the second Golden Age of North Texas football. The first age ended when our fanbase failed Coach Fry and he left, and how long this Golden Age lasts is going to depend on if our fanbase steps up or not. Our revenue sport is doing its part. 4 straight bowl games and we just scrapped by 15k... ergh
  3. Urge to lock entire boad... RISING!
  4. Well, that was a waste of bandwidth. How about, instead of doing something easy like arguing with each other over the internet, we do something hard and put time, money and effort into getting 20k+ to the Idaho game, thats what this place exists for.
  5. You know, sooner or later, we have to lose a conference game... 23 straight wins is insane...
  6. In the time Dickey has been coach, North Texas has two wins agaisnt BCS teams, Troy has two. North Texas has been to 3 bowl games, Troy zero. North Texas has three wins on National TV, Troy has one, albeit against missouri. Troy has a nice new stadium remodel, North Texas has news in the future. I just dont see Trioy being better than us as a program, and as far as conferences go, SMU is in a "better" conference, want to trade programs with them? I know they would.
  7. Marshall is in another league, they have been successful since we where 1aa. South Florida is in Florida a state that has way too few 1a programs for its size, and that is barely being fixed, I also forsee a down turn for USF, just like: UCF, which is has two less wins than SMU... 0-9 UAB is on shaky, shaky ground, they are bleeding money, and they Bama wants them dead. Troy is in our leage, and hasnt beat us, and is going to be staying home this bowl year, I cant say they have passed us yet.
  8. No politics CNN or Foxnews have some nice discussion forums. Thanks for your input on the rules.
  9. Alright, stop dwelling on it. If you want to do something, stop crying and do something to make sure we have more people for Idaho.
  10. What's 3-0 make you think?
  11. Wait, if this is ESPN's premium content, which they charge for, then please don't post it on the board. Harry and I don't want to get a letter from anyones lawyers, and I am sure no one values these articles enough to risk having this board shut down.
  12. We were offered, so was ULL when we turned it down.
  13. Agree 100% Keep it civil, you can critique someone without being a jerk, learn how.
  14. That actually is the whole reason I move them. I want people to check out the other forums. That and it keeps everything nice and organized.
  15. That forum is UNT FOOTBALL. This thread of course, isnt UNT football, but it is "Non UNT Sports". THe student health center was brought up asking the very valid question, will this effect how students would vote for/against a student fee for a stadium. I dont know what the WFAA/Other thread your talking about. Besides, with 1 of your 4678 posts being moved over here, I dont think you have to worry about persecution
  16. I had a group of 14 year olds burst out laughing when Boobie cried to his uncle. Ma-roons. One thing I did notice is they tried to make Odessa look tiny, and it is bigger than Denton. So is Midland... Those two are out in the middle of no where though. Its not 6 hours to Houston, its 10, its about 6 hours to Dallas, its about 4 to El Paso.
  17. I have seen the movie and read the book, and I play a Dr. on television. The book has several moral stories in it, some of the moral stories are pushed hard in the movie, some are really soft pedalled. Almost all of them make at least a token appearance. It would be impossible to get all the points made in a 300+ page book into a 90 minute movie. The movie has much less depth, the characters are shallower, the issues are shallower... thats a shortcoming of every movie based on a book.
  18. It was a great book, it was a pretty good movie. The audience was actually shocked into silence a couple of times, because it doesnt have the usual, expected hollywood ending to a couple of scenes. I though LV (Boobie's uncle) was shorted, he came across in the book as a person who really loved Boobie, and wanted the best for him, he would have felt the same way whether boobie could play football or not. He was proud of him for being a good player, but he would have been proud of him anyway. In the movie, he seemed to be out to ride boobies fame. I thought the movie barely touched some of the darker aspects of the book. http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/friday_night_lights/
  19. Alot of people ask, "what is a Harvey J"? That's just the "hip" nickname the Harvard student body came up with for thier real Harvey mascot, Herve Villechaize: Seriously. He's a pimp mascot.
  20. Not many people know this, but for two years, Coach was Chilly Willy, the beloved mascot of the TU Pillaging Penguins.
