What happened to UNT's Medical School? Wasn't it in Fort Worth?
UNT Health Science Center is a separate entity, it is a member of the UNT System but isn't part of UNT Denton. Just like UNT Dallas.

For those in the know academically, could this be a way for us to build a long term plan to get into the AAU?
Getting into the AAU would be harder than getting into the P5 (P2?).
I'm not saying it's impossible, it's just a real hard climb.

- UNT has frozen tuition and fee increases since the start of COVID, the legislature is likely to freeze increases for the at least the next two years.
- As you've probably noticed, EVERYTHING is much more expensive than before COVID.
- If you've hired people locally, you know the job market is HOT in North Texas and salaries are booming.
So despite the huge increase in costs for the university, it has already made serious sacrifices to NOT pass the expense along to the student.

Dear Faculty and Staff,
I am thrilled to share with you this morning that Texas voters overwhelmingly approved Proposition 5 creating the Texas University Fund (TUF). This is a historic moment for UNT — and for Texas. The TUF is a transformational investment in UNT, Texas higher education, and the state’s economy.
With 95% of Texas polls reporting results, media outlets are reporting that 66% of voters voted in favor of establishing TUF, which will be a $3.9 billion permanent endowment to ensure sustainable funding for eligible universities — including UNT — that do not receive benefits from the Permanent University Fund (PUF). Four universities are expected to receive funding and were determined by objective criteria based on research expenditures and doctoral degrees awarded on an annual basis with funds being distributed on a merit-based system that correlates to each institution’s research expenditures. We will learn more in the coming weeks.
UNT is committed to helping meet Texas’ needs, and we are prepared for the opportunities this new fund will bring to our university and the communities we serve. With nearly 47,000 students, UNT is now the 3rd largest university in Texas — behind only Texas A&M and UT Austin. Our university has accounted for 52% of the growth in new enrollees across all public universities in Texas since 2019, and we are making a difference in our students lives as each of you helps them achieve their educational goals to follow their dreams.
You also know that UNT has a known track record for meeting the demands of students, families, and employers, and helping drive the economy in our rapidly growing North Texas region. TUF will help us accelerate our research innovation, keep more of our top talent in Texas, elevate our national rankings, and propel UNT to greater national prominence.
This truly is an exciting moment for us. Thank you for all you do to support our students and to ensure we continue to move forward and have a positive impact on our region and state.
UNT Proud,
Neal Smatresk
UNT PresidentFolks this is a big deal, this will bring in tens of millions a year in new funding.

From his first snap of the game until his last, Rogers was getting swarmed. I would love to know what UTSA's pressure rate was, it might be an NCAA record.

NIL is insignificant compared no conference championships in 38 years, highlights of 1/2 empty Ford Stadium and snooty student body that wouldn’t acknowledge your existence on campus if you didn’t have a great 40 time or bench 300 lbs. We will see what NIL can buy you in year 3. But so far it does not equate to actually winning anything or retaining the best coach y’all had since the death penalty.
I promise you if we had aTm level of NIL dollars we would be killing every G5 in the state on recruiting, and we would be really hurting the P5 schools as well.

Technically no, they would have needed to expand Fouts BEFORE the NCAA passed the rule. It was all retroactive. We simply had to drop for at minimum of a few years. But, we could have returned to 1A much, MUCH faster if we'd expanded Fouts.
I was not here at the time, but my understanding comes from discussing the issue with people who were in athletics at the time, and with a couple members of the BOR who were also here at the time.
If NT had filed the waiver and then proven they had funded the aluminum seating at Fouts they would have stayed at 1A. Other schools in our situation did that.

There was absolutely nothing NT could have done to NOT drop to 1AA. But, they COULD HAVE immediately started working to move back up which they did not do. Lots of folks blame Hurley, but there was a very strong movement in the faculty to drop football altogether and he opposed that.
The university could have stayed 1A by expanding seating at Fouts. However athletics was running deep in the red at the time, and the faculty were so unhappy about the deficit, that no one in leadership was going to try and fight that battle.
Dr. Hurley did great things for the academic side of the house, but he was fully behind dropping to 1AA and focusing on basketball.

However, the NCAA passed a rule last year, and they no longer allow cut blocks outside the tackle box. Army and Navy have both had to adjust their offense, so I'm no longer as concerned. We'll see how it all shakes out.
Army's AD has stated that the rule change is part of the reason they looked to join a conference. They know the rule change will make their option offense less viable. They hope joining a conference makes them more competitive in the the new NIL/transfer portal world.

NT students not only voted to pass an Athletics fee, they voted a few years later to allow the fee to be raised and the SGA to be allowed to raise the fee without a student vote.

Important to note that total university enrollment in Texas has fallen by 2.7% year over year. Our gains are more impressive in that light.

As good as we looked offensively at times, we could be even better with some consistency.
This is the most important week of the season for these coaches. Between the bye and then a game where we should be able to out athlete/depth an FCS program, its the perfect time to get the offense really clicking, and find SOMETHING that works on the defense.
Especially the defensive side, find something that works NOW. This offense is good enough to win games with a below average defense, they just can't be bad, much less terrible.
