  1. Obviously, we fans do not know; how could anyone know? It maybe an excellent assumption just based on NT apparently can't keep anyone, but there is no way to verify this. I can't believe that any of the AAC teams have a substantially edge in NIL funding other than Memphis and SMU. There is something else going on other than the NIL factor. Has anyone else noticed that there are a great number of players entering the Portal, but at this time; very few have been identified as committing or signing with another team. My guess or maybe just my hope is that NT is in much better shape than the fans recognize. Players have committed whether they are transfers, high schoolers, or those that have entered the portal and not found a better home.

  2. What I don't understand: How do we know our NIL is underfunded compared to our conference mates and other peers when the financials don't have to be publicly reported?

  3. Has anybody tried 407 BBQ? Any good?

  4. According to whom? I’ve worked for in Austin and lived in the greater Austin area for over 15 years and I have never heard of Interstellar BBQ.

  5. We seem to occupy a very unique and miserable position in the current NIL landscape. 1. Our players are very good. 2. Our collective doesn’t have much $ to pay them. 3. Other schools have collectives that are willing to pay them a lot more. It is really pretty simple. The only way for us to compete right now is to identify and acquire undervalued assets. And then when the marketplace puts greater value on those assets, we have to start over and do it again. Unless any of you guys have a few million $$$ you want to send to Harry via bank draft… I am certainly frustrated and disappointed with the current situation, but I have invested too much and care too deeply to bail on UNT basketball now. It is just going to make it all the sweeter when we finally prevail.

  7. I stand by Metzler's in Denton. Great food, reasonably priced and long time supporters of UNT.

  8. Steve Sloan dies at 79: Ex-Ole Miss coach won two national titles as player under 'Bear' Bryant at Alabama - CBSSports.com Not sure why our alma mater wasn't listed, but he was the AD for my first few years here in Denton while I was a student. Even got to do an interview with him for a communications class when I was a sophomore. He admitted to me that day in his office that the administration just didn't support sports enough to compete with the schools in the SWC back then and that it was really frustrating.

  9. I tried this and it did NOT go over well. It probably had something to do with the timing: I said it right after the boss said "I'll be right back. I need to use the restroom."

  15. Yeah, sadly, I fear that the answer is pretty simple: we have the worst NIL in the conference. Until that changes, we'll be sending Hodge into a gunfight with a knife. The further we get into the NIL era, the harder it's going to be to keep up the momentum from past success. At this point we're basically just hoping and praying that Hodge is a WAY better coach/recruiter/evaluater than his AAC counterparts. Even if he is really good at those things, we can't just expect him to pull off miracles every single season.

  18. Thanks for the above, that demonstrates whatever is going on at NT is unusual. Obviously, there is an explanation other than it is happening everywhere; because it is not to the extent it is at NT.

  19. Memphis has 4 Pierre Young Cherenfant A. Hardaway 3-4 players seems normal, I don't see a single team up at 7 or more outside of ECU which I mentioned.

  20. ECU is the other team sticks out in our conference. 7 in the portal, and it seems like they are cleaning house because that's a lot to lose for a team that didn't do well. We are losing 7 plus 1 commit, and more importantly 5 of those were our heaviest minute players. Looking around the conference: Charlotte-3 ECU-7 FAU-6 lost coach Memphis-4 Rice-6 fired coach Temple-2 Tulane-4 Tulsa-3 UAB-2 USF-4 UTSA-3 WSU-4 We and ECU are definitely the outliers, and what I've read from them it sounds like they asked their players to leave so they could start fresh.

  26. I received an email from someone this weekend and they included their preferred pronouns in their signature. Is this common practice now?
    1 point
  27. But that would be a mistruth, but that's on you, not me. No one forced you to engage with this thread, but you chose to. Very predictable.
    1 point
  28. See, again you missed the mark. I started the thread to simply asked if this was common now. The person didn't offend me in any way, shape or form. For someone that can read my perspective, you sure failed on this one.

  29. Fair enough considering I can do the same with you.

  30. Would have been better to just ask me directly. I didn’t think asking a question was whining. I just find it all terribly silly. Take it as you choose.

  31. Technology? Yes, I would agree. And no, I started the topic asking about pronouns not the email.

  32. Never said I was offended. I asked if it was common. I find it silly. Civilization survived thousands of years until a generation decided this was needed. It wasn’t.

  35. Ha! Oh yeah, it will piss people off. In my world I'm outnumbered and would possibly be fired if I did something along those lines. So, I'll live vicariously through you.

  37. Not every kid coming straight from HS needs a ton of development. If they demonstrate enough to for us to believe they can contribute, get them! I think Layne would have helped us. This is all moot now. We released him, and it was for honorable reasons.

  38. If someone can tell me the width of the new seats, I have a really long tape measure. I'll do it for the low, low price of a black lot parking pass. SMH.

  39. You’ve posted as many times in the last 10 hours as I have in a month, but sure. You got me just like you got the emailer who offended you so much you had to log in and start a thread because an easily ignored autosignature hurt your feelings.

  40. You’re totally right and I agree with you but it leads me to a question: Do you think the guy who received the email reply also started a public message board thread whining about it or did he just express something back privately and move on?

  41. I don’t like pulling a scholarship this late in the game for any reason other than character issues/criminal activity (if that is what happened). Yes we lost an entire top six but we also lost guys who literally never saw the court. I am sure there was room for a developing shooter. Give him Stone’s spot.
