I had a young man come over this morning (Sat) to mow my yard. He showed up in an Arkansas sweatshirt. I asked him what his Arkansas connection was. He said he doesn't like it anymore and only wears it to mow yards. He said he stopped liking Arkansas after the North Texas game. GO MEAN GREEN

It's really a small world. We are currently on vacation in Dublin, and I ran into a couple wearing North Texas gear. I yelled out Go Mean Green and talked to them for a few mins. It's really cool running into alumni in other countries.

Aune looks like #2 and Martin looks like #3. Bean still tries to make up for his indecision with his legs. He does have good wheels, but then, just about everyone else does too. BV is right, Keune will probably redshirt. He does have some Fine-like qualities however. Addaway looked pretty good. He weaved through the middle of the defense for his first TD. He has very good speed, but I still haven't been able to evaluate his power running. Siggers is getting back into rhythm as a rb after spending a season at DB. White looks pretty good and Shorter made some pretty good catches, but he seemed a bit off after taking an uncomfortable fall in the endzone going for a fade pass. He got mugged most of the day by the DB's...…...as did all of the WR's. It looks like our DB's are being turned loose to go bonzai on the receivers. Hopefully they will then learn to dial it back. #20 and #40 looked good out there at LB. #32 was a monster. All the starting DL's were putting a lot of pressure on the QB's and I saw a lot of #45 and #46 around the ball when they were in there. That's good, because they both look like they are capable of jamming up the middle. just going by todays efforts, #47 seems to have the strongest leg. #49 under kicked a 50+ yrd FG attempt, and #47 had more than enough leg, he just missed. All the receivers had to battle a brutal cold gusty wind today. It never got over 48 degrees and the wind averaged around 15-20 mph. I was sooooo glad to get back into my truck.

Exactly! Which is why it is important to the program’s future to increase his buyout for another program to pay.

I'm debating with Vito on Twitter about this and I know some people may disagree, but to me, Houston is our biggest OOC game. -They are the marquee G5 program in the state and have been one of the best in the nation for a decade. -Even though they're not the rival SMU is, they're still an in-state rival that we're trying to catch in terms of facilities and on-field success. -We directly compete against them for lots of recruits every season. -The game itself is going to be a bigger event than the SMU game. Houston always brings a ton of fans and I can easily see this game being a sellout if both teams get off to a good start.

And it is a completely false narrative. If anything, Fine made a rookie OC look better than he is, parlaying Fine’s talent into a top 5 (historically speaking) job.

Hi ya'll - Some big news in Green Brigade world. Dr. Nicholas Williams has accepted the incredibly prestigious position as Conductor of Wind Ensembles at the Melbourne Conservatorium of Music in Australia. I am super thankful for the generous spirit Dr. Williams always afforded me and his continued passion for athletics' success as a multiple degree-earned alumnus. Today, his successor was announced. From College of Music Dean John Richmond: --- Welcome Daniel Cook!

    10. MASON FINE, NORTH TEXAS (Photo: Jerome Miron, USA TODAY Sports) 2018 stats: 303-of-469, 3,793 yards, 27 touchdowns, 5 interceptions 2019 expectations: Kicking off the Top 10 is one of the most underrated players nationally, a quarterback who will likely leave the Mean Green after his senior season as the best in program history. Overcoming the loss of play-caller Graham Harrell, who was instrumental in Fine's development, will be a challenge, however. New offensive coordinator Bodie Reeder has increased the tempo a bit, something Fine said recently his teammates have adjusted to well during the spring. Fine has an opportunity to exceed 10,000 yards passing and 100 touchdowns at North Texas if his senior season is comparable to his past two as the Mean Green's starter. https://247sports.com/college/north-texas/LongFormArticle/Trevor-Lawrence-Tua-Tagovailoa-Jalen-Hurts-college-football-quarterbacks-2019-Alabama-Oklahoma-Georgia-131124138/#131124138_4

ESPN 2 has the national cornhole championships on right now. The announcer said there are some familiar names and some newcomers to keep your eye on. The commissioner said he was happy the championship was on national TV and the "sport" continues to grow. What does this have to do with UNT and CUSA? I was thinking we need to trade commissioners with the ACL. At least he knows how to get his "sport" on TV. I think the national sport of horseshoes will be on after this battle of the cornholes is over and the champion is crowned. The offseason has officially begun.

My requests from a non musician. 1. No more shorts, etc... Wear our uniform. 2. Be musically excellent. That is expected of the GB. 3. Create an entrance and march on to and off of the field. 4. Stop bastardizing our Fight Song with the start and stop and different versions Williams loved to do. 5. Cut down on the number of times Fly Like an Eagle is played. 6. Get the crowd going. Remember that you are there to support our team and represent UNT. Make us all proud.

I think the article misses the biggest point regarding declining attendance. College Football fans are the ultimate homers. All they need to motivate is to hold out hope that "next year" will be the year their team goes on that magical run to the conference championship and maybe the national title. This is an underlying sentiment the fuels the passion inside of them. Everything else associated with game day completes the fan experience but is not the base sauce. More and more fans realize now that their teams chance to do anything magical is close to zero. I am not just talking G5 schools. Over half the P5 schools have close to zero chance of winning a national title. Basically the focus on creating a "true" national title game has actually hurt the sport since it is not broad based and severely diminishes the pride fans feel to be chasing "just" a conference championship. To me the obvious fix for college football is to lower the number of regular season games and instead expand the playoff format. You put HOPE back in to a fans heart and they can't get enough. Every time I see Wifi in these articles I throw up in my mouth a little.

Finding really funny how some of those associated/leading the sanctuary cities are getting pissed at Trump for suggesting they should start taking the immigrants to the different cities. The mayor of Oakland commented on how they should not have to use their local resources and this is a "Federal Government" issue. hypocrites!!!!!!!!!!

Martin was the best qb on the field today. Two drives 2 scores, had some great long balls. We definitely have a number of quick backs. Tre and Addaway May be the bangers! Norvil in the middle and Hamilton on the edge looks to give us a good d- line. Will definitely have the size! GMG

The point of this article seems to be that if Harrell can make a great QB out of little Mason Fine from nowhere Oklahoma, he is going to really shine with USC's four and five star QB's. I think Harrell will do well, but Fine is a tough act to duplicate.

The lack of attendance is due to the lack of parity. There is 0 parity so why should there be increased interest. Over the last 10 years it has been boiled down to about 12 teams with a competitive advantage and real shot to win a national championship. Everyone else, including a large portion of the 'P5', have a minimal to 0% chance. The game has been monopolized with the help of the media. They push the brands that garner the eyeballs because it creates more money for them. How deep of an analysis have you heard mainstream sports media give of Indiana or Purdue? Wake Forest or Boston College? Arizona or Colorado? Vanderbilt or Mississippi State? Iowa State or Oklahoma State? The answer on any given season, season over season, is very little to none.

If people can’t see the difference between the Big West & MWC, I don’t know what to say. I don’t know why it’s brought up by the folks who oppose the MWC. Again, when you’re talking football, you’re talking only 4 games per year in the Mountain or Pacific time zone (unless you schedule non-conference games like Cal). And those games don’t necessarily have to start late, just like many of our home games kicked off at 1:00 or 3:00 over the past few years.

Recently, an NFL scout came by to see him and take his measurements. “I can’t control my measurables,” Fine said. “All I can control is what I put on that tape. Some teams may look the other way. Some teams may look at the film. I hope they do.”

I’m all for that. My 50 year high school reunion needed a place and my wife said OK without a problem. However, I’m a little hurt that Lifer just assumes my house is “a smaller venue” than the Coliseum. Is Miller High Life OK with everyone ?
