  1. You know it's the off season when a portal transfer thread dissolves into a NIL discussion.

  2. Maybe with Dusty leaving Goldin might wanna try something new....

  3. Then their scholarships should get taxed. Let’s see how much they like paying taxes on that SMU education vs. taxes on a UNT education.

  4. After a huge sweep of Tulsa, the ladies will go for the sweep of UT Arlington this Tuesday at 6 p.m. at Allen Saxe Field in A-town (do people call it that?). If you're close to Arlington, join us for the game to give the ladies some home-away-from-home cookin'! As of right now, I should be able to get people added to the pass list for free. So let me know if you want to join our group.

  5. Yes but it's be nice to grab one of those top two seeds who only have to win two games to win the title!

  6. Tough 5-0 loss today but always thought the regular season was more about seedings for the big prize, conference tournament. Win the conference tournament = NCAA tournament bid!

  7. I will not poke fun at you saying you think Edwards will return like an hour before it dropped he was leaving lol, but I am cautiously optimistic about most of the others. Similar to Chandler Rogers, I did not see Jason really publicly engaging with Mean Green nation on social media. Meanwhile Rubin's mom and Aaron's HAVE been, and now even CJ's mom and Cotton's mom, have been big, noticeable parts of UNT Twitter. I feel like they are truly part of the Mean Green family, as much as one can be in the days of the portal and NIL.

  8. I hope eventually we fill these spots left by guys like Morgan and Moore with players who can regularly be in the rotation. I'd love to have 10 used guys... they don't all get 10 minutes a game or just garbage time minutes, but 10 guys who can be ready and contribute and provide 20+ minutes if needed due to injuries or foul trouble.

  9. FAU ties the game up 4-4 in the bottom of the 7th with ECU. Takes another seven for anyone else to score a run. ECU wins 5-4 in 14. Wichita State could have made it a three-way tie for first but lost to Charlotte 4-2 after scoring the first two runs. So UNT doesn't lose any ground, remains tied with FAU at the top of the conference at 8-2. Charlotte and WSU are 7-3.

  10. I wish him the best. He seemed like a really good teammate like Stone.

  11. We're 154-80 over the last 7 years. Not refuting your point. Just saying.

  12. This is very positive for UNT. Our recruiting will be at such an incomprehensibly high level it will free up a lot of mid level local talent for you

  13. I think we all saw it. Good luck to him.

  14. 4-0 USF in the sixth, but FAU (ranked #25 nationally now, by the way) is also trailing ECU 4-2 in the 6th.

  15. I think our announcers at our home games are really good. On the road....it's hit and miss. But, this guy tonight is superb. Very knowledgeable of our team and our season. Hate that triple being wiped out......

  16. Not surprised to see this. I hope he finds a place where he can earn some playing time.

  17. A true center is the top of my wishlist too. 6-11 or 7ft, just so we can see for once what someone with that size can do on this team.

  18. Color me underwhelmed in the hire. 15-18 for the 2023-24 season, 105-100 PAC-12 record, and has never won any kind of championship in 11 years in the PAC-12? Sounds more like you did USC a favor.

  20. Stating facts about his game is “ripping” him? And with NIL - I’m comfortable with it. So are most of the rational posters here. If these dudes are “paid” athletes now, they can handle criticism - especially from fans that fund the program (season ticket holders, MGSF, & NIL collective donors). This isn’t college athletics of old. It’s not as fun. And if they don’t stay and get degrees, you’re not really one of us. You’re someone who played here for a year or two then changed teams like a pro athlete does.

  21. I don't know why we keep ripping guys that contributed from day 1. There's a very good chance that this team would not have achieved what it did without Jason Edwards. If he was the complete package when he came here he wouldn't have came here. Again, this fanbase/board needs to come to grips with the age of NIL and the transfer portal. We love our guys until they leave.

  22. He was a JUCO guy last year, and only played here 1 year, so unless he had a huge classload (20+hrs/semester) plus maymester & summer classes... I highly doubt this. I bet he finds his way to a SEC or ACC school though. Best of luck to him. Leaves a scoring void though. Get on the phone with Ivy-Curry! He would be an excellent addition to the line of explosive JUCO players we've had over the past 5 years!

  23. Someone was saying that tampering may have taken place? Apparently he had his mind made up since December. Dont quote me just what im hearing.

  24. Great job organizing, Matt. Fun fan time for all. Enjoyed the banter and breadth of topics, as is likely to occur when fellas gather for the talking sport. There is value, lots of it, when fans coordinate and gather together, especially for away games where there may not be lots of Green in the crowd. The more together we are, the louder we are. Really appreciated the ladies coming over after the game to thank us for being there. Ladies, thank YOU! GMG

  25. My buddy and I went to the tournament they played at Arkansas last season. Big fan of Bogle Park. Not saying we need an SEC-sized complex yet, but it'd be cool to have a few suites on either side of the pressbox, green pull down seats behind home plate, maybe like five rows of bleachers in left field, incorporate a "tailgate homerun porch" like we currently have at The Lace in right field, and a grass beam in center field like at the old Rangers ballpark.

  26. The school just hasn’t figured out how to engage a bigger percentage of the student body. Getting them to care while they’re on campus is so important because once they graduate, it’s much harder. For every 10 people I knew while in school, maybe 7 of them watched any college sports and probably 2-3 of them cared about UNT sports. So how do they bridge that gap is the question.

  28. Rick you have been such an inspiration to us all. So happy you are able to retire after all your hard work on behalf of UNT. I hope you get to travel, fish and do all the fun things you most certainly deserve now that you are officially retired.

  32. Congratulations Rick. With your enthusiasm and energy shown in our adjacent sections on gameday I never saw you as the retiring type - and still don't lol, but I certainly do wish you only the best in your future endeavors.

  33. So you don’t want to see North Texas ranked #10 in the nation based purely on our reputation as a power basketball program?

  34. I hope Jones returns. I think we will have Edwards, Buggs, Noland, Walker, Scott and Sissoko returning for sure. I expect Cotton to return and be joined by the incoming duo of Taylor and Mason. Stone is a toss-up to me but could provide valuable depth. If the above occurs, that leaves us with three spots to fill. My wish list would be a true center, a PF and a "combo" F similar to Allen.

  35. This isn't specifically AD or attendance related, but generally speaks to how tone-deaf UNT can be. About 4 or 5 years ago, my ATM card needed to be renewed at Wells Fargo. They have a customization option and one of the categories is/was college and universities. I took a shot and what do you know UNT was listed along with all the other universities. Shocker, I know. It was almost like we finally arrived. So, I customized my card with the North Texas logo below. It's not like a lot of other people see this, but I liked it. Fast forward to a month ago and I get a notice that my card is going to expire and it's time to renew. I go back into the Wells Fargo design studio, select colleges/universities and UNT is no where to be found. Since the logo is trademarked, Wells Fargo will not use it for customization without the approval of the trademark holder and apparently we refused or didn't provide approval for its use. There's protecting your brand and then there's stupidity. My ATM card is now customized with a photo of my dog.

  36. Well like alot of us expected, C Moore has gone portaling. Kid is talented. Hope he goes somewhere he can get some quality minutes. That now opens up another guard spot. Should be interesting to see what North Texas adds.
