Great article from DCTF on the Mean Green. Lots of detail on some of the plays from the FAU game. Well worth the read! https://www.texasfootball.com/article/2024/10/17/how-north-texas-built-the-g5-s-best-passing-attack?fbclid=IwY2xjawF-Wl9leHRuA2FlbQIxMQABHW2eBwpnLwZyztIAL8tdlq7qfOktSoFrNGykO6nixJ64Q-Ne8LFoPOsAUQ_aem_jc36aXzoWywsBoQq_DC_OQ9 points

Not sure what happened to football pants. Not us, every team. Wasn’t there a uniform rule a few years ago that the pants had to cover the knees with pads? Seems like we are not far from just running out in gym shorts.9 points

I guess our hope is that Texas blows out Georgia and then everyone turns to our thrilling close game to see the MEAN GREEN pull out a victory!6 points

Any opportunity to be seen Nationally in football during Prime Time on a Fall Saturday evening is a GOOD opportunity. But we need to WIN this opportunity to gain other opportunities!5 points

OK Mean Green nation, we are on ESPNU for the Memphis game. Some of the faithful will make the road trip, but most will have the opportunity to watch on an ESPN linear channel on a college football Saturday night. ESPN opted to show South Dakota State at North Dakota State on the Deuce instead of our game. Ouch. The numbers change on a monthly basis, but ESPN/ESPN2 has roughly 70M subscribers. ESPNU is a little over half of that at 36M subscribers. By comparison, ESPN+ is right around 25M subscribers. Not sure how many of these reside in the DFW area. I suspect that some of the published ESPN/ESPN2 viewership numbers come from people that stumble upon a game while channel surfing or just have the channel tuned in most of the day in the background. Contrast that to viewers that actually seek out a game to watch on ESPNU. Not sure if that's how it work, but that's kinda my viewing habit. I only tune into the U when there is something specifically on there that I want to watch. Thinking about it like this, should we consider the viewership numbers for our games on the U as a truer indication of our ability to "deliver the DFW" market? Whatever the case, we're up against some stiff competition again this week. Here's the schedule of games starting around the same time with the big draw being #5 Georgia at #1 Texas.3 points

Our dozens are way better than their dozens... Sadly, I'd venture that more people with UNT degrees and credit hours will be tuning into the Texas-Georgia game to root on "their" team down in Austin than would dare to even look at our score.3 points

What more is there to expect right now? At the beginning of the year we'd all be ecstatic if I told you we were 5-1 with Tech being our only loss. The SFA and Wyoming crowds were great, homecoming will be too.3 points

I love Tylor and the devotion that he has for the North Texas community. I am very pleased to hear that he was there.3 points

It's probably at 11 so it can air on ESPN. If it wasn't for the TV schedule, it would probably be a 6:30 game.3 points

Indeed this is a great article and great video interview. HOWEVER the article and video are about Coach Morris and "C-4" (love that nickname), and not really North Texas. It was clear from the video interview that the ONLY reason "C4" is at North Texas is because Coach Morris is here. Nowhere is there any mention of either of them being impressed with, or even liking, the North Texas atmosphere, fan base, or even the culture in general. To be fair, this is the case for a lot of athletes these days. Most are at some particular school because of the coach and the system he has installed. But this is especially obvious to me in this article. Having said all this, I hope that Coach Morris and "C-4" are with us for another year.2 points

You can joke, but don't be surprised if they get a better rating despite being on a less available channel.2 points

Other teams playing at 11:00a that day: Ohio State Navy and Notre Dane Ole Miss and Oklahoma Now, I am sure someone is about to chime in with “yeah, but those programs are different and can draw crowds at any time of day.” Yes, they are different…because they have fans whose only question is “Is my team playing?” and not the laundry list of asinine questions we keep asking: Is it too hot/cold? Is it within 15 days of a holiday? Is another team that I have no affiliation with playing at the same time? Is the opponent sexy enough (though I claim to be a fan of North Texas, so this is irrelevant)? Is it too late/early/middle of the day? Is the team winning? If so, are they winning by enough points? If so, is the offense “pretty” enough? Am I currently mad at the athletic department/university about something? Is it too far for me to drive? If not, could I just watch on tv? What does my horoscope/tea leaves/position of the moon say?2 points

I always seek a G6 game...I very seldom will watch a P4 game unless it's the only thing on.2 points

Found this. It also looks that we’re the premier G5 matchup in that time slot. Fans looking for a G5 game will likely tune it to our game. Not sure how many people that brings in, but I know I fall into that camp.2 points

Having a coach who played for Mike Leach in the air raid offense doesn't hurt either.2 points

I love the coverage on the audibles and play reads from the players perspective. It really shows how this is a team sport. Seeing that we have smart players all over the field, it really says a lot about how we develop and recruit.2 points

I've been saying about 3 prayers a day for a week, that the Defense has seriously worked on Tackling Techniques on the field and in the film room. Poor technique anomalies happen from time to time. But we're 8 weeks into the season....Need to see good technique from the first quarter, not wait until halfway into the third to figure things out....2 points

The second major hurricane in three weeks, widespread power outages and 30% of gas stations in the state being out of fuel might have something to do with it. South Florida had 37 tornados during Milton, the most in a single day in state history. It has been beyond insane here.2 points

Mr. Frosty's For those around in the late 1950's and early 1960's, Barlow's right off the square was a great place, a place that some of us athlete's could go, because we did not have much money to spend. Great country food and the best peach cobbler anywhere, plus Mr. Barlow was a wonderful man.2 points

I wonder why UTSA would pay Traylor that much based on the fact that they could not separate how much of their success was due to Traylor versus Harris.1 point

Traylor trash is pulling in a ton for his poor performance. It definitely hurts when your QB isn't signing up for social security and Medicare next year...1 point

Be cool if they could build this out into a full evening event. It was the court, a couple food trucks, and that was about it. I’m sure they have all sorts of ideas to improve after year 1.1 point
