  1. Need some love and support from the GMG crowd. My daughter, born and raised Wisconsin, is interning in the UNT Sports Medicine Department. She was a AT for the football team and was talked into staying for the spring semester and is now the AT for the softball team. Really tough day for her as she bleeds Badger Red but is very close with many of the athletes. She is also taking her NAT Boards today so wish her luck! I have watched more UNT Football, Basketball and Softball this year that you can imagine. This is going to be an interesting game as these two are mirror images defensively which makes the offensive side of the game a real knock-down-drag-out kind of game. All I can say is there will be no real losers in our house tonight. - Best of luck and GMG and On Wisconsin!

  2. A phrase we heard often back in 2020. I thought it was ridiculous at the time, but some things that changed back then proved to truly be the “new normal.” What does this have to do with UNT? Well, it’s not just UNT and it’s not just football, but the transfer portal is the new normal. It’s driven me crazy and, along with NIL*, has made me question my love of college sports. That all changed during the NCAA Tournament. I didn’t watch a single game that I didn’t hear the phrase, “he’s a transfer from ________.” Didn’t matter if it was a P-5, G-5, public school, private school. Seemingly every school has players transfer in and every school has players transfer out. This is the “new normal.” If you were like me, you need to accept it and move on, or don’t accept it and drive yourself crazy every time a player leaves UNT. So starting with Var’Keyes Gumms, one of my favorite players on the team last year, I’m not going to be upset. Not necessarily going to wish him well, but also not going to hope he fails. I’ll celebrate and embrace the players who choose to transfer to UNT. Next player up whether they are currently on our roster or another teams. Like some of the “new normal” we saw with COVID, I may not like it it, but fighting it doesn’t do me any good. GMG * I haven’t yet had my awakening to accept NIL in its current form.

  4. is Mo here Umoja Gibson? the two year starter at OU and then grad year starter and leading scorer at DePaul? James Reece started every game for SC and averaged double figures. he's also from SC. Drez struggled for Georgia...but looky there...he's also from Georgia and like Reece got to finish his college career at home. plus, James Reece wasn't "loyal" to Buffalo when he transferred out. how does that figure into your stance? should our incoming transfer portal players also be potentially ineligible for the Hall of Fame because of the "stigma"? Sorry Jayden. Sorry Tyree...@johnnyeagle doesn't appreciate your contribution while here and has some serious doubts about your ability to learn life lessons down the road. in short, get over it.

  8. Staying at the Venetian. Got in yesterday around 3 or 4. Swung by the GC and Hoover Dam on the way. Great trip altogether. My almost 2 year old is hanging in like a champ. Win or lose today, leaving right after the game to head into SD to tend to some things. Been a great trip. GMG

  13. I think the world of Quincy and am certain this is not any type of vendetta against North Texas. Quincy has already graduated (with honors) with a Radio and Television Broadcasting Technology degree and needs to be wherever is best for her post-grad courses. She is loyal to North Texas and started attending North Texas Collin County alumni events this past year when she graduated. She has been an incredible ambassador for our university, and I hope for nothing but the absolute best for her wherever she goes, and I look forward to when she returns in the future for Alumni, Letterwinners, and Hall of Fame activities. Best of luck Quincy, we will be cheering for you wherever you play for your final year of eligibility. You've been nothing short of amazing while you've been here. Thank you, and, we love you.

  14. Coaches are attracted to places they believe they can win. Grant has proven he can win in the current facilities. I'm not against a new BBall facility, I've read all the awful descriptions of what's going on behind the scenes, but I don't think it's the dealbreaker some of y'all are making it out to be. I don't think potential coaches are coming in here, seeing the SP, and running away. Maybe if they have other offers on the table and all else is equal, then it could come down to the arena.

  20. Multiple sources have confirmed to gomeangreen.com that Texas A&M Commerce Head Coach Jason Burton will be named the new Head Coach of the North Texas WBB team, the 9th in team history. Burton compiled a record of 171-90 in 9 Seasons in Commerce. He has only had one season below 500. during his tenure. Burton is the all-time winningest coach in Texas A&M Commerce program history. He holds the program records for wins, conference wins and winning percentage.

  21. I'm beyond livid at that call. that was terrible officiating...not just because the call was wrong but because the refs let themselves be talked into it after Gard talked to them on that first three-point foul. absolute trash.

  25. I'd like to know one FBS school that has done this and it has worked out for them. If you want to go way back, both Pacific and Long Beach State dropped football in the 90s. Each has had short periods of success but neither is a basketball success story. I don't think either has won a NCAA tourney game in thirty years. I'd say the opposite is true, a school like SDSU has heavily invested in its football program. Hasn't taken away from basketball. Everybody keeps looking for the easy route, there isn't an easy route. Hire good people and keep investing in infrastructure.

  28. Orleans Arena capacity is 9,500 FYI, Wisconsin's home (Kohl Center) seats over 17K for BBall (that includes courtside) In case nobody linked it, here is Wisconsin's write-up on the matchup: https://uwbadgers.com/news/2023/3/23/mens-basketball-lucas-badgers-prepare-for-battle-with-mean-green-in-vegas.aspx

  29. Just looking at who we have lost, guys like Mo, Drez, Reecy etc has the portal really worked out that well for them? Seems to me they sort of disappeared on these other rosters. They were big time valuable pieces here. You see it in football as well with Brammer not even cracking the starting lineup at Vandy. Is there not an argument to be made that jumping ship is not always the best solution or does NIL money make it a moot point? Not to mention, loyalty and sticking true to commitments are lessons that can pay dividends later in life. There will always be a stigma on these guys. I also believe if you transfer out for portal or NIL or whatever you should not be eligible for the UNT Hall of Fame.

  32. Welcome aboard coach. I saw that your teams wore their school colors for every game. The North Texas school colors are green and white, and there are no others. Please show North Texas the same courtesy and same loyalty you had for your previous employer and dress our teams only in our own school colors.

  36. I’m thinking of starting a Twitter whisper campaign to help Texas Tech realize Dusty May is the right man for the job. Here’s what I’ve got so far. Feel free to add to the list. - Craig James has referred to Grant McCasland as his best friend on several occasions. - Rumor has it Grant McCasland hates tortillas. - When asked on his thoughts of Buddy Holly’s music, Grant McCasland’s alleged response was, “Sorry, never heard of her.” - Grant McCasland once referred to Lubbock as “the prettiest truck stop in America”. - When Grant McCasland has to visit Lubbock, he opts for the Irish Inn & Suites in Muleshoe, TX.
