  1. Credit to Tennessee for staying in this game as long as they did...they're just not used to this level of basketball.

  5. FanDuel summary and prediction... "Just like the odds imply, I fully expect a close game. However, North Texas' superior defensive play will take it to the final round." 6. Is it possible that the American loses maybe the best team in the country and gets better as a conference? Gonna be a deep conference next year. Selection committee better be ready.

  7. Pretty sure they coordinate food, activities, tours, lodging, etc with recruits and their families as well as coaches who visit. Basically make it so their visits are seamless and as positive as possible

  8. Thought this was a cool moment. When asked about UNT/UAB, he smiled…like he was proud of his conference mates. It’s been a similar vibe on Twitter. All CUSA teams are pulling for each other.

  9. I must say it's pleasing to note that everyone has been respectful and treated this new employee in a professional manner. We've come such a long way from the days when remarks like, "Wowzer! She can recruit me anytime!" or "Hubba Bubba! Take me for a ride in that Buick Skylar...k!" were commom and quite frankly, so uncalled for.

  10. FAU's margin of victory in the NCAA Memphis 1 Fairleigh Dickinson 8 Tennessee (Mighty SEC) 7 For comparison: NT 4 NT 4 FAU has a great team and I hope they win it all, but NT certainly looks as good as anyone they have played in the tourney.

  11. What an unbelievable postseason by FAU, and the entirety of CUSA in general. Just so proud.

  12. @Cooley, with all due respect, this kid did a podcast within the last week and had nothing but glowing comments. Something drastic changed, or he was giving the interview knowing he was lying. This guy literally quit the team after starting spring practice. Does he have every right: Yes. Does he owe fans anything? No. He also has every right to get ripped by those who have an issue with how he did it, and at the same time, the fans owe him nothing. IMO, the days of players somehow being off-limits to criticism and blowback is over. If, as many say, its business, that goes both ways.

  13. I'd be happy if she recruited students to attend football, basketball and other sports events.

  14. Yeah, it was Spring Break last year. I know people won't like it, but a decent part of why Mac will likely take the Tech job is the lack of attendance. I'm sure when he guided us to that CBI title and we had a couple of really nice crowds in the Final, he thought we'd keep that going. We've probably only exceeded the Game 3 against San Francisco crowd...two or three times since. Despite having some tremendous teams.

  18. I'm getting there late Monday night and coming back Wed morning. Unable to make the final due to work constraints, but I'll take the semis! Booked an airbnb near the Orleans. Flying on Frontier but I've learned how to carry everything in a personal bag so I'm covered.

  19. If FAU makes it further in the tournament than Houston do we get to say new AAC > old AAC for basketball?

  21. I really want a CUSA sweep of the postseason tournaments. Charlotte got the CBI. If UNT and UAB can advance to the finals, it'll guarantee the NIT champion is in-conference. FAU has the most steep road but they can do it. And for the "we're leaving CUSA who cares" crowd, all of these teams are new-AAC teams.

Someone once said, “Don’t cry because it’s over, smile because it happened.” Margy and I will smile a lot because each of you enriched our lives. Please continue to support our football team with your energy and passion Thursday night. Thank you for the countless, everlasting memories. Sincerely, Dan McCarney

  24. With the two home NIT games, the season attendance numbers somehow ended with a whimper instead of a bang. First, the Alcorn State attendance was revised to 2,122 (down from 4,308 as initially reporting) making it the lowest attended home game of the season. No one really expected us to match last year's regular season final, but we did break the 5,000 barrier against a bad WKU team. Then the post-season. Yes, Alcorn State and Sam Houston are not Texas State and Virginia, but man, what a disappointment. Spring break, sure, but it was spring break last year too (I think). At some point we need to become a fan-base that attends to see *our* team play and not rely on our opponent to be the draw. I'm still questioning the accuracy of the Sam Houston numbers. For all 16 games, we actually saw a -4.45% reduction in average attendance. For regular season games only, we eked a 0.6% increase in average attendance. Is ESPN+ driving down attendance?

  32. I’m 75 years old so correct me if l’m not remembering the following the following correctly. When I was finishing my degree in early 1970’s, I attended many basketball games in the super pit. I saw attendance at 9000 or so for several games when Bill Blakely was coach even though UNT (and Denton) was smaller. Two or three differences I remember: 1) Students could sit anywhere on the East side and reserved was on the West side. 2) Students could simply walk in by showing their student ID. Not sure if this is the same or if they need to pick up a ticket in advance. 3) The ceiling of the Superpit was white (now it is flat black). So it seems much darker now which seems to suck the life out of the place. I don’t think the color of the seats (dark green now vs orange then) is the difference because when the seats are full of people the color of the seats shouldn’t matter. It feels like a morgue now instead of a bright, electric atmosphere. I know that filling up the East side with students reduces paid reserved seats, but maybe that would create more of a demand for the reserved seats (and higher prices).

  34. My thought is, guys come and go, North Texas is forever, ill just root for the guys who are here. I am not shaming the ones who don't want to be here. The timing sucks and having an interview in which you say you want to be here and then leave a week later is bad timing, but it is what it is. I will just choose to cheer for those in Green and White (and sometimes Black lol)

  35. If that is in fact what happened, then I continue to be not worried about the HS kids Morris is bringing in/getting committed. Unless he gets hired away by a P5.

  36. Every college football coach takes the job knowing they're going to be fired someday if they don't win enough. I think that after being fired, all of them should make a public statement expressing gratitude for the support they got from fans and the community in the years they were there. And they should thank their coaches and players. It's not the end of the world when they go out bitter or say nothing at all, but if you can't find good things to say about a job that put millions in your bank account and made you big man on campus at a proud public university, you might need to regain some perspective. Almost every coach who ever got fired here kept on coaching elsewhere, so it must be a pretty sweet gig.

  39. Hey Mean Green fans. Badger fan here - I've been to your campus like 30 years ago when I lived for a couple years in Flower Mound. I think nothing posted here about the Badgers is blatantly wrong. There was a comment about Jordan Davis getting a "rare" start earlier in the year, but he was in fact the starter at the 3 up until midway through the year when Essegian was inserted. Essegian is in a horrid slump - he came in as a sharpshooter and was the emerging leading scorer/primary option, but has gone ice cold the last 10 or so games. There's some chatter amongst the fans about putting Davis back in because he's the better option defensively. Has UW played a defense as good as UNT? Looking on t-rank, it looks like Rutgers, Kansas, Purdue, and Northwestern are ranked ahead of UNT at 24, and UW is at 25. 9 of the 14 B10 teams were top 50 defenses. Quite frankly, UW struggles mightily on offense. What worries me most is that you have an excellent 2P% defense and we are really terrible this year at that. Crowl is a 7 footer and he was excellent in the first two rounds of the NIT, but was not able to outduel the bigs of Oregon offensively, getting a lot of shots blocked and altered. Tyler Wahl also mainly scores by backing defenders down in the post, but he has been terribly inefficient at that this year, especially since his injury at the beginning of January. Gilmore is the main backup big to both of those guys and he is a huge step down offensively - he does play good defense, though. Hepburn, our PG, is also notoriously inefficient inside the arc, but when he has a size advantage - like he did against Liberty - he can go crazy. The other thing to mention is almost every game UW plays is close. Last night was the 20th game decided by 5 points or less. In back to back games, UW took Purdue to the wire and had to sweat against bottom-feeding Minnesota. Ask me anything.
