  1. Truly amazing what this staff has been able to do after such a late start and being under the gun. The future of this program is very bright

  4. We get a week off to get ready for Rice. Huge game that we need to separate ourselves safely for the 2 seed.

  5. I’ll call your bullshit and raise it to double bullshit! Abou has been ABOUismal…ABOUt worthless and ABOUtsolutley awful since Christmas break. He cant buy a layup, he is 50-50 from the free throw line, he has 3 fouls before every halftime, and he has been tech’d multiple times in close games. The team is rarely ever able to stretch leads when he is on the floor.

  6. Looks like we got the Starling Kid TSU and UTSA were trying to get... Based on the tweet with Clay Jennings and and the H-town Shoutout. That's a major win I think. Let them know the tables have turned in recruiting. I imagine UTSA maintains their advantage in East Texas but the DFW and Houston recruiting is trending in our direction now. Love to see it. If this team can wins some games next year, we will have full momentum. Best part is, outside of Svoboda and Jennings, I do not see any of our coaches getting poached after just one season due to their relative lack of experience... the advantage of some many guys getting their first opportunity on this staff.

  7. I was incredibly frustrated watching Mac essentially beg a pit full of 4,000 people to stand up and cheer when his team was up 12 at home with a few minutes left in a conference game. I wouldn't be shocked to see him gone. He rebuilt this thing into a perennial contender, a team most mid majors don't want to play and a host of the power schools refuse to play because of how well they play defense and do the little things right. Sure at times the offense is rough, but what would you rather do, score 100 a game and be under 500 every year or have phenomenal defense, and suspect offense at times but win 70% of your games every year. I know which one I will take. The offense and talent can continue to increase as you continue building winners. I was glad to see that Mac and company joined the student section as that gives me hopes he thinks he can build the hype for the program through the students and eventually they'll be young alumni and continue coming because the older generation of fans that are attending sit 99.9% of the game. Except you crazies that sit right behind UNT bench and I think y'all give the student section a run for the money most games.

  8. I was posting this in the football forum but it was deleted. He was on a visit this weekend and just committed. It seems that the old Nebraska staff was recruiting him. He also visited Air Force, LA Tech and Boise State. He doesn't have a 24/7 profile and I didn't see any stats on Maxpreps. First team all district. I watched his HUDL video and he seems to be a good blocker. With Jake and Asher leaving, I imagine he will take on the blocking TE role. He also plays DE. There were a few plays where he split double teams and made good tackles. Welcome aboard West! 6'2 245 TE/DE

  9. Wow man, not sure that we need a new arena if the students keep showing like this. The Manica's have made a difference. Much better energy than the Talons.

  12. He just committed as well. I think he will be a solid player for us down the road.

  13. This team is much better with Abou on the court. When teams play him straight up, he usually plays really well. The struggle has been with the double teams, but that’s usually a struggle with developing big men. GMac prefers to play inside/out. Dude is a really good player. His foul trouble has been frustrating, but I think he’ll figure it out.

  17. I need to learn more about these recruits, but on the surface it is very encouraging that we are landing guys this late in the process that programs like Boise and UTSA were after. I can't wait to see what Morris and his staff can recruit when he actually has an entire year to work with.

  23. I heard that he never visited some schools right down the road from us. Given our lack of good QB the last few years, their eye for talent was always in question

  24. I'm glad to see us have an East Texas presence again. There are so many talented kids from that part of the state. Hopefully we can continue to build the pipeline with some of the schools our there. His high school had a down year, but he is a solid WR/DB. He was previously committed to Texas State and recruited by Clay Jennings. 45 Rec 694 yards 6 TDs 75 Carries 514 yards 5 TDs Chose North Texas over offers from Texas St, Arkansas St., LA Tech and UTSA.

  25. Would be really nice is there was a list of the former players who are coaching in High School. I would also hope the Athletic Departments would make sure to reach out to all of them.

  26. I honestly think he will be the surprise of this class. Really liked his film. They appeared to have played a “read and react” system in HS, but when he reacted, he was quick and decisive. Welcome to the Mean Green family Matthew.

  30. I guess I'm not sure when Christmas break ended, but Ousmane literally had a double double on Thursday. He was awful today, but you don't have to go back that far to when he wasn't.

  31. Right there with you, although I will take SOC winners over Southlake or Highland Park winners in a heartbeat.

  32. Dude I like your posts usually, but I gotta call bullshit on this one. Ousmane is the reason we are so dangerous in G5. He is a P5 level post.
