Leadership experience- Yes Worked in small and large organizations - Yes (Dallas and Argyle, so he knows how both types operate) Would go for slightly less than $1.8 million - Yes Knows the area - Yes Would not use this as a stepping stone - Yes Would appeal to the donors - Yes (insert political comment here) Would replace a 29 year old QB with others with more potential - Yes Knows how to grow an organization - Yes Has more personality than Seth Littrell - Yes Could raise money - Maybe

  2. Seth was until just recently the highest paid coach in the conference, highest paid coach in our history. I expect greatness and all I have been served is his mediocre to subpar results for the money invested. I expect for that money several Conference titles, some bowl wins and heavily stacked winning season records. Seth's stats out of conference suck, his overall conference performance sucks, his bowl game records has sucked and his recruiting has sucked. Just imagine how bad he will suck if he stays for the AAC. Fire Seth NOW!

  3. I wouldn’t feel for him if he was only making 1.1 million. Even at that level he would be well underperforming. There are many G5 Head Coaches doing far more for less money and with far less in facilities. Littrell has failed miserably.

  5. I'm not surprised. Every one of our programs looks at the character of the individual as well as the athletic performance. Character matters at NT. I am proud that we put academics at the front of our athletic program. Congratulations to all our coaches and our administration for supporting these students where it will matter the most.

  6. Mrs. Littrell, your husband has had a decent run. He's the longest tenured HC in the state. Yet, he has put nothing in our trophy case. I'm sure you guys will land on your feet. Call Mrs. Dykes down the road, I'm sure she can help your husband get an offensive analyst position. We appreciate your husbands efforts.

  7. This is not really true, the last time when Seth was hired Coaches came out of the woodwork to submit for the job, I would expect it again. Its not the worst area of the world to coach and recruit. Now we are in a better conference, we are a bigger University and we have even better facilities.

  8. that is the biggest bunch of bullsh*t poor pitiful UNT. We are paying SL $2 million that is a large salary for any G5, so cut the whoa is me bullsh*t. RV and the BOR failed on this hire, now if SL only made $1.1 then maybe feel for him, but he is one of the higher paid G5's

  9. They deserve a modicum of praise for finding a guy named "Biff" as their new hfc. Still, a pronunciation guide for "Poggi" would be nice.

  11. No matter what happens this year, Seth should be let go. UNT needs a new Coach going into the AAC. Does Wren have the balls to attempt to move NT football to the next level? You know what you have in SL. Time to make a statement and move on, Wren.

  12. It’s so weird trying to figure out what his role even really was at Michigan. On their game notes, he’s listed as “Associate Head Coach/Special Advisor” listed under Analysts. He’s not even a position coach. So strange. How is the Associate Head Coach not even a position coach? He looks like a rich guy who decided he wanted to coach, bought a high school football team and really talented players, parlayed that into an analyst job at Michigan, and now the HC job at Charlotte. Am I missing something? Seems like a Maryland Private High School version of Todd Dodge. Based on what criteria?

  13. DENTON, Texas – North Texas Athletics posted the third-best Graduation Success Rate (GSR) score in program history with an 85 for the 2015-16 cohort, the NCAA announced Tuesday. “The most important achievement of any student-athlete is leaving our campus with their degree,” UNT Vice President and Director of Athletics Wren Baker said. “That accomplishment is at the heart of Building Champions and Preparing Leaders. The sustained success announced today is a true credit to their hard work and the resources provided on our campus.” This is seventh consecutive year for the Mean Green to finish above 82%. Two UNT programs posted perfect scores of 100 (women's tennis and women's volleyball). It was the seventh consecutive year for tennis and the second straight for volleyball. Eleven of North Texas’ 12 sports scored higher than 80. Men’s basketball (93) posted the second-best mark in program history. From the time GSR data collection began with the 1995-98 cohort, UNT has improved from a score of 59 to 85 (26-point increase). The GSR was developed by the NCAA as part of its academic reform initiative to more accurately measure the academic success of Division I student-athletes by better accounting for the many different academic paths followed by today's college students. The NCAA also released the most recent federal graduation rate data in conjunction with the GSR information. The GSR holds institutions accountable for transfer students, whereas the federal graduation rate does not. The GSR also accounts for mid-year enrollees. The NCAA calculates the federal graduation rate for student-athletes because it is the only rate by which to compare student-athletes to the general student body.

  15. Interesting hire by Charlotte. He ran a hedge fund, coached a high school in Baltimore, and was recently on the Michigan staff. There is an HBO documentary about the inner-city high school he coached at called The Cost of Winning. I'm interested to see how this turns out. https://www.cbssports.com/college-football/news/charlotte-hires-biff-poggi-49ers-call-on-key-michigan-assistant-to-lead-program-after-firing-will-healy/amp/#amp_tf=From %1%24s&aoh=16685493818511&csi=1&referrer=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.google.com

  16. Back-to-back 9-win seasons with a CCG appearance, 3 straight bowls, annihilating Arkansas at their place with the viral Peter Pan play (I don't care how bad they were)... after the long drought we were in beforehand, it sure didn't feel like overpaying. That was the going rate if we wanted to keep a coach who was succeeding and being courted by P5s. I have no idea what happened, but the HC we've had the past 4 seasons has not been the same one from the first 3. I don't know about you, but I'd like for the new guy to be at that same level (the 9-win, P5-courting level). There's no reason why we should go down in pay. Why do that?

  19. Make an offer to Neon Deion. He’s got the backing of a gazillion dollar sports marketing company in barstool sports. In the age of the transfer portal this is who NT needs. Think big. I think Deion would love to get back into the North Texas area.

  24. Man if you want to see a bunch of junk, just go drive to traders village in Arlington lol. I never got the alure of trade days in Canton. Most of the people just sell shit that they can't get rid of at the local garage sales. Or they sell stuff to fuel their meth habits aka my moms side of the family that we don't have anything to do with.

  25. Lol, I remember going to the Aaron Jones UTEP game years back extremely confident because we just needed that win to become bowl eligible and UTEP was really not good that year. Well, we all know how that game ended and that game, coupled with a few bowl blowouts I saw in person have taught me the really hard lesson that if there is a way that Seth can screw up something so important, he'll find it.

  28. you will find plenty of very good coaches for under $2 million if the BOR decides to go cheaper. We overpaid for SL, pure and simple.

  29. My man, you cannot be more wrong about this. So tired of the Poor, Lil' Ol' UNT thoughts from several around here. Those days are long gone. UNT is an attractive, vibrant University with excellent Athletics facilities out the wazzoo, soon-to-be in the preeminent G5 conference, and in the middle of the most fertile recruiting grounds in America. Not to mention: We're paying our coaching staff a friggin ton of money. The "limits" on who we can bring in are only those active P5 head coaches who already have jobs. That's IT.

  30. I would take Skip as well but I think we can even do better than him. Skip did much better in recruiting with WAY lower resources than Littrell has.

  32. Please keep in mind that many of our fans prefer to take shots at other teams while they seem to be happy keeping the status quo at North Texas. Guess it's much easier to make fun of others than to hold your own school accountable.

  33. This article sheds light on his role in Michigan's turnaround, and it sounds like he's been a major contributor to their recent success: https://theathletic.com/3771847/2022/11/08/michigan-biff-poggi-jim-harbaugh/ I get the impression he'll be a "CEO" type of coach in that he'll hire the best coordinators he can, and hold them responsible for successful Xs and Os while he focuses on the bigger picture and fosters team culture, motivation, and relationships.

  35. 7 years .500 record No hardware There really is nothing to discuss…he’s mediocre. If the donors, Wren and Neal want mediocre…they have their guy. If they want to take the next step, and moving into the AAC seems to say they do, then they have to make a change.

  37. Yep, that would be six bowl games in seven seasons... yet, that would be only two winning records in seven seasons, with all of them ending badly.

  38. Another Bert sugarcoating article. UAB are not a good team and have an interim coach to boot. They lost to teams we blew out including everything else mentioned above yet you would think they were a Top 25 team the way we looked against them in the second half. I’m looking on the bright side though. The more evidence that we get showing Littrell isn’t it the guy, the easier the decision to can him at the end of the season will be

  39. "The Mean Green can't afford to make mistakes against good teams." Does this really imply UAB is a "good team"? Maybe by CUSA standards? Lol. They were 4-5 when we played them. UAB had lost to FAU and Rice, and had not beaten any teams with a winning record this year, except now for UNT.
