WKU's 37.5 pts per game is misleading, IMO. That number is inflated by 2 blowouts versus 2 of the worst teams in the country (FIU, Hawaii). If you look at their last 4 games they are only averaging 27.5/game. No doubt we'll give up some big plays, but I don't think they're on the same level as UTSA or SMU. This is all going to rest on Aune. I suspect, like UTSA, WKU is going to sellout to stop the run. We can't wait until the 4th quarter to get our passing game going. If Aune can't complete 60% of his passes, I don't like our chances.7 points

As an administrator, I found early in my career to never make a decision based on the new guy might be worse.5 points

I'm not sure why this is framed as a controversial opinion. Fans voted for Odus Mitchell over Hayden Fry as coach of the all-century team a few years ago.5 points

Other programs have come sniffing around (SMU included if you consider them “big boys”) and Mac has chosen to stay put. I think he knows what some of us forget…this place has the potential to be special.5 points

Night and Day between Gmac and SL. Gmac seems happy to be here while he is here. I sure some big boys will be sniffing around for him.5 points

What I was most interested to hear was the fact that we can't schedule bigger name opponents at home because, though we've tried, teams don't want to face our program in our gym. This is when you know you've built a quality program. I long for the days when the reason we can't get opponents to Apogee is because other schools fear a loss.5 points

Oh, believe me guy, I’ve seen it. It’s just not enough to call there. They got a big receiver & picked on the little guy. It is what it is, and it’s never going to be called there.4 points

Great interview! Talks about the upcoming season…style of play….scheduling issues...what to expect from the vets and new guys. GMG!3 points

If you can't do YT or hate it like I do, then there is the embed. Before you tell me I should have maximized all the clips, I want to say that I should have maximized all the clips.3 points

I know Jimbo is near so we hear more, but if I was a fan of Michigan State I would be even more concerned. Why in the name of (insert anything you want here) did they give Mel Tucker a 10 year $90 million deal? They are 1-4 this year against P5 teams.3 points

I was really intrigued by how much he was talking up Kai Huntsberry. I was fully expecting Martinez and Eady to be starters and key players on the team, but with Huntsberry was just hoping he could be a solid guard off the bench. He is much more of an unknown as a D2 guy compared to Martinez and Eady, who were both double digit scorers at D1 schools, but it sounds like he has a really impressive offensive skill set straight from Mccasland’s mouth.3 points

Good information Coach Andy Mac. I have listened to every Tyson Helton radio show this season and here are my takeaways not covered in CAM's above post. WKU leads the nation in turnovers gained. They like to strip the football and give it back to their offense. WKU doesn't believe they can stop NT's "balanced" offense. Coach Helton believes WKU needs to score 35 to 40 points to win against. NT. Helton understands that NT has a bend don't break defense. Force NT to kick field goals and prevent TD's is one of their defensive strategies. Coach Tyson has repeatedly mentioned that WKU likes to hit their opponents QB on almost every play.3 points

As a big fan of second and even third chances, it’s inspiring to see Durkin move from helping kill kids to just helping slowly kill rich programs.3 points

I understand coaches who are conditioned to provide as little information as possible when interviewed or in a press conference but it's certainly refreshing when a coach like GM comes across as candid and honest when discussing the team and program. Exciting to hear him speak of expanding the offense and explaining that the glacial pace and approach in recent years was intentional and strategic to match the strength of the roster/rotation. Sounds like his focus is tailoring the style of play to players rather than being rigid to a specific system.3 points

Jimbo really is playing 4D Chess. Unfortunately for him, the teams he plays are playing football!3 points

I can't remember which one - maybe The Green Room - but one of the podcasts mentioned that the vibe in the locker room is very healthy, between players and coaches.2 points

Yeah it sounded like he said he’s faster than Javion in addition to saying he’s a better shooter. That would be a heck of a ball player. I’m still not expecting him to be CUSA player of the year like Javion, but I am expecting him to be legit offensive weapon. Also expecting it will take some time to get up to speed at the D1 level.2 points

What I found most interesting about the scheduling issues is that not only do schools not wanna come to the Pit to play, but they also don’t wanna pay us to come to them either. also the little tidbit that only Kansas was okay with playing us in the first round last year was hilarious2 points

He's actually chatting about technical, schematic, and personnel strengths... with detail! This is something Littrell would N.E.V.E.R. do. It's almost as if McCasland understands that his opponents do their own scouting and aren't stupid, so he can just speak plainly about what we do well, and just challenge the other teams to stop his guys. I love it, but it's so weird to hear. I normally expect coaches to be way more guarded. Great Interview!2 points

Is it a coincidence that North Texas is CFB's most common homecoming opponent? Let's make that a mistake this week. GMG2 points

SL is definitely a different person than he was Year 1. 6 years of wear and tear, doesn't like to deal with media, losing seasons, etc... I don't think a GMac comparison is completely fair. They strike me as different personality types. GMac has had tons of positive momentum on his side, and seems to embrace the camera/social aspects of his job.2 points

I guess, according to Vito's unnamed former ref's opinion, ... no we didn't. There's no chance that would get called there in a back-&-forth, competitive game like that. No way. Only DPI gets called there, or an egregious push-off that everyone & their dog would agree with.2 points

That's right. Everybody says that! Hence why Alabama only gets 1 really good class every 3-4 years. And they just ride each of those classes to #1 rankings and National Title games every single year. Then wait to reload after another 3-4 years!!1!!1!1!2 points

What kinda’ surprises me with the “GMG.com personnel in charge of (possibly) hiring a new coach” is how they don’t list overall attendance on their job description list. Stadium attendance (or lack thereof) is part of a list of criteria on many P5 school’s. Some NCAA D1 FBS head football coaches get bonuses if their school shows marked improvement at the turnstiles.2 points

I wouldn't be so sure about that. They've already lost to Rice, ULM, and South Alabama.2 points

Go back and look at the last few pages of the in-game thread (after that play) and you'll see why. A vast majority of people on here were saying we lost the game because of OPI.2 points
