  1. This is fantastic quality! Excited for the season to begin GMG!

  2. I didn't know the exact time-line. Thanks. Like you said in another comment, hopefully Aune has figured it out. I see others saying they believe Gunnell will be the starter by week 4 but if that's true, how much fan interest will already have been lost? Regardless of who the choice is, they need to get it right week 1.

  3. This is just awful. I can’t imagine things escalating to this at a kids game of all things. It’s the adults that are ruining kids sports. I hope justice comes quick to those who did this. Sounds like Talib in trouble.

  4. There is nothing going on a game of 9 year olds that should escalate into violence between adults. Wow, beyond tragic and stupid. Most likely ruined the sport for all those children and underage spectators. Most likely no possible future pros on those teams but plenty of kids that would have enjoyed being on little league, Middle School and High School team for 8 more years. Valuable life lessons would be learned along with discipline. Then you have our alumni with at least 2 decades of life left loving & supporting his family and community stolen over utter bullshit. We all lose. My prayers go out to family and everyone else close to Coach Hickman.

  5. Guys we need to buy up seats NOW so that we don’t get outnumbered by SMU fans. They might bring tens and tens of fans to Apogee

  6. I believe UNT Frisco is an extension of UNT Denton while UNT Dallas is a separate affiliated university. That’s my understanding anyway.

  7. I arrived late (10:30 or so), so I didn't see all of the passing plays, so I'm a bit surprised at the 8-12 and 8-13. While I was there, I was not impressed with the "communication" between the QB's and the receivers. I saw some very disappointing throws....by all of the QB's. Having said that I would favor Earl over Gunnells. On the plays that I observed, Gunnells didn't look all that polished. The defense was doing a great job of coverage, and when a couple of plays were toss-ups the WR's didn't fight for the ball as much as I would have expected. If this is the last scrimmage before the opening game, I am somewhat concerned.....mainly about the passing game. The running game looked very good. I was especially impressed with Mr. Attaway. The guy has more speed and explosion than I remembered. Mr. Farrar was making a strong case for playing time. He not only can get a lot of yards around the edges, but his interior running was surprisingly good. He also demonstrated his value as a dump off receiver, as he took one short dump pass to the house. Both the OL and the DL looked good. Carson Kropp (15) had a good stop behind the line of scrimmage coming at the RB from behind. Kaghen Roach (#90) also looked good as he was providing excellent pressure on some pass plays.

  8. I’ve trashed Aune over the past couple of months, but Gunnell is legitimately pushing him and good on him for winning the job. It looks like we have two capable QBs. Good spot to be in.

  9. We have a new location for UNT Football Watching Parties for those in or around Collin County. McKinney ChopShop and Sports Garage opened in February/March of this year located in the Hub 121 area (live music amphitheater) at the intersection of the Sam Rayburn Tollway (Hwy 121) and Alma Drive in McKinney. This place is great! It's two stories with decks on both levels as well as a large indoor seating area. Bars on both levels. It's also connected to a swanky wine bar next door called Wine-A-Little. I'm working with them to see if they will start carrying the UNT Alumni wine from Cassaro Winery & Vineyard. The first watching party at ChopShop will be when we play UTEP at 8pm on 8/27 (just two weeks away). As usual we'll have door prizes given away at half time as well as a lot of Mean Green swag. The ChopShop will also feature very special Mean Green Shots for $5. I hope you can join us. #GoMeanGreen #BeatUTEP #UNTAlumni

  11. You guys are going all in on this troll job by Vito. Why would Littrell say anything different two weeks before gametime? That isn’t how this coach operates. He has not once said Aune is your game 1 starter, he has said since spring when he was competing against Head and Earle that it was Aune’s job until someone took it from him. That hasn’t changed and he uses that as his standard response to try and keep Vito off his neck. If Gunnell is the guy, you won’t know until our first offensive series at UTEP. My point in talking about Aune is that in the rare chance that he does end up as the starting quarterback for this season, that in and of itself does not mean it will be a lost season. Have a little faith. Based on the preseason progression I’d put the chances above 50% that Gunnell is your starter. The only reason they would let Aune run out there against UTEP is because he is 2-0 versus them as a starter. Gunnell will be the guy for SMU, mark it down.

  13. I think we will see very fast this season how things are going to roll. We should know a LOT after the first two games (UTEP, Smut). We may know in the first half in El Paso...

  14. Of that, we are 100% aligned. Good...bad.... Its UNT football. I've seen worse and I hope to see better. But just happy to have the excuse to day drink.

  15. Just in people forgot... Aune had a 30qbr in the bowl game against a team most thought we could beat, or at least be competitive.

  16. I can guarantee your that there's not a single person on this board who wouldn't eat crow, and gladly, if SL became the man we needed and started excelling. But, come on man... Is this the UNT football you really want to watch? Truth and facts are that we we are barely mediocre. To flip your narrative... Some people have decided to bury their heads and disregard the, very very many, negatives.

  17. I have found there are a lot of folks on this forum who made their decision on Littrell prior to last season and any sort of positive inputs since have to be disregarded.

  21. There will also be a UNT Watching Party at Boomer Jacks in Bedford. Does that shorten your drive enough?

  22. Y’all put WAY too much stock into Littrell’s coach speak. He said nothing different than he did from the spring. You won’t know the starter for game 1 until our first series of the game. I’d put the odds at 80%+ that their is an OR again on the depth chart.

  23. Oh, and if the UTEP game gets boring, take a break and catch some of the John Mellenkamp tribute band Texan Fool that will be performing live next door on the outdoor stage. This is gonna be a party.

  24. Last time they played in Denton there was a SMU fan seated in front of me. He was on his phone the entire time giving play by play. I asked what he was doing and he said he was paid by a Park Cities alum of SMU to come to the game and provide the alum with feedback. Had to do it for all road games. I asked if he was paid and he said he received a small salary for this service and burying the occasional hooker.

  25. I hope SMU does bring a lot of fans for a change. I have never seen more than a few hundred make that periouslous long trip to Denton.

  26. One of the managers (Melanie) said that it’s popular for the husbands to show up with their wives to watch games and the wives drift next door to the wine bar. Not being sexist or stereotyping, that’s just what Melanie told me.

  27. Oh, I’m not super positive either. But I think Littrell tenure has been miles better than the two decades before it and any outcome is realistic this season. We’re pretty average but this conference is bad. Anywhere from 5 to 9 wins is a realistic outcome and I would prefer to let it play out instead of assuming the worst. If we win 8 or 9, Littrell gets an extension and we feel pretty good going into the AAC. If we win 5 or 6, we’re coach shopping with the biggest wallet we’ve ever had. I’m just excited to get started.

  28. Don't really care much about Vito's article and I don't expect SL to lay out the game plan 2 weeks out. I'm just baffled at the amount of folks defending Aune like he just had a historic season. Other than bus driving against UTSA, he hasn't earned *it*. I'd love for him to prove me wrong, though.

  29. They don't count as an argument as to why a QB should keep starting. We complain about mediocrity but allow 50% completion and 9 TDs to 9 Ints to keep starting because at least he didn't cause us to lose against bad opponents. What? This program will never go anywhere if the coaches share that mindset.

  30. Man, that’s just awful.

  31. I don’t know. I have faith that Bennett has improved the defense - so the top two QBs performing well against them in camp should be seen as a positive development. I also think the offense found something worth continuing with Aune and the running game to end last season. So while I don’t expect him to be a great passer, I do expect the offense to be somewhat efficient.

  33. "The former Argyle standout went 6-for-11 for 85 yards and hit Tommy Bush for a 38-yard touchdown. Gunnell went 8-for-12 for 89 yards and connected with Qualon Farrar for a 20-yard touchdown." I like that second stat line way more than the first, especially considering Gunnell was working with the 2s.
