Apparently a trip toFord Stadium isn’t high on their list of “a great way to spend a Saturday” either. More importantly, nobody in a city of 1.4M can be bothered to cancel brunch plans either.8 points

I just want to point out these conference shuffles are occurring under Biden. Yet another way he's destroyed our country. Never would have happened if Trump were still around. I'm kidding.5 points

At the 1 hour 3 min mark, Richard Mazins #44 destroys the QB and causes a fumble. He will be a decent pass rusher for us. I don't know if he will be an every down player, but he will at least be in the rotation. Number 0 Mayes he did seem decent in coverage. He had problems shedding blocks. I also saw him take bad angles pursuing the ball. He led the team in tackles last season so this could have just been a bad game. Either way, I think he will play on special teams and be in the rotation at the Devil/OLB spot. Number 10 Jordan Smart from UTPB is also a WR here now. He had 6 catches for 20 yards in this game.4 points

I think NT has more fans that care what SMU does, than SMU has that care about their own program.4 points

Any clue as to time ? I think it would be fun to take AMTRAK to SA. Not very efficient in terms of time or money but a good opportunity to ride a train. And speaking of trains, beat UTSA. GO MEAN GREEN3 points

I’m still wondering when a trip to University Park to watch SMU will move the needle for your “fan base.” And your squad has had 7 wins in 5 of the last 10 years (though I mistakenly thought you had better seasons over that time).3 points

Psssh. Weak. You could post how mad you are about the coach 800 times using mostly the same words or a link to every article you get a Google alert for even though there are already four threads about it.3 points

So we are back to the days of building the best team money can buy? No more recruiting on the benefits of the university, its academic programs, its culture, etc., it’s just about money. 18, 19, 20 year olds walking around with a few extra hundred thousand dollars to burn….what could go wrong? There will be too much money floating around and that will attract the worse and corrupt the best.3 points

Following one season as offensive coordinator at North Texas, Harrell produced back-to-back top-25 offenses after inheriting an offense that ranked in the nation's bottom 25 in scoring, passing, and total offense. Harrell comes from the Air Raid tree, stemming from his time with legendary college football head coach Mike Leach while Harrell was the quarterback at Texas Tech (2005-08). The two linked up again at Washington State in Harrell's transition to coaching for two seasons (2014-15) as an offensive analyst then receivers coach installed his version of the offense during the spring practice period. "From a schematic standpoint, everything that we were going to do, we installed in spring ball. We've been repping them all summer, and we'll use the fall camp practice schedule to refine those even more," said Brown. read more: https://www.si.com/college/westvirginia/football/wvu-oc-graham-harrell-has-a-different-energy-about-him3 points

He looks good to me even if a bit undersized. If you have a few minutes you can watch 44 in white on defense and number 0 on defense in black. These are Mazin Richards #44 at DE for ENMU and Miquon Mayes #0 at LB for UTPB.3 points

Not sure if this is 100% accurate, but Fri. Nov. 18 has been reported as a very possible date for Nevada's makeup visit to Arlington. Wondering then if they would play you on that Wed. or Sunday? Or maybe even rare back-to-back nights in Arlington and Denton for some early tournament type conditioning?2 points

If I'm Houston, I choose the Big XII over the PAC. As inconceivable as it would have sounded just a couple of months ago, the Big XII is the far more stable of the two. It is clear that Washington and Oregon are looking to bolt, and probably Stanford and anyone else in that conference, if a B1G invite comes their way.2 points

Mr. Farris received the Palestine Herald-Press Athletic Award for the 1957-1958 school year. He was inducted into the Palestine Wall of Honor in 2014. He was recruited by Coach Bear Bryant and attended Texas A&M for one year before transferring to TJC. At Tyler Junior College he was Junior College All-America as a guard/linebacker and was named the conference’s Most Valuable Player. Mr. Farris helped lead the Apaches to the 1960 national championship. TJC was 12-0 during the regular season and was invited to the Junior Rose Bowl in Pasadena, California. Although the Apaches lost to Long Beach City College, 38-16, TJC was awarded the national title before the postseason game. In 2009, Mr. Farris was inducted into the TJC Sports Circle of Honor. In 2018, the TJC 1960 championship team received a Special Recognition Award from the TJC Alumni Association. This award recognizes an individual or a team of individuals for their outstanding professional achievements, contributions to society, and/or service to their community thus bringing honor to the College. After junior college, Mr. Farris ended up at North Texas State and was named All-America his junior season. In the 1962 NFL Draft he was selected by the Los Angeles Rams as the 100th overall player and the second pick of the eighth round. Mr. Farris was also selected in the 23rd round (184th player) by the San Diego Chargers in the 1962 AFL Draft, but chose to play for the Rams. After his professional career, he returned to his beloved hometown of Palestine. He helped develop and grow the family real estate business. read more: https://tylerpaper.com/news/services-for-former-tjc-football-all-american-richard-farris-sr-scheduled-for-saturday/article_2a6f7656-03d9-11ed-ae79-536f3c12fc07.html2 points

I was actually sad to hear former USM and Smu coach Bobby Collins had passed last November. I did admire him at USM when they beat some Big name programs. I think he was a good coach. He got hired next at Smu during their scandal, and did have knowledge of it later. I noticed in the article he is a member of the Mississippi Sports Hall of Fame and the USM Hall of Fame, but is not in SMU's Hall, even with a 43-14 record. https://bleacherreport.com/articles/10018520-former-college-football-hc-bobby-collins-dies-at-882 points

Please go to your school's board and tip toe through the land of NIL Oz where a Manning level QB snubs, Michigan, Alabama, Georgia, LSU Texas Oklahoma USC, Ohio State, Penn State, Clemson, Florida State, Florida, Tennessee, and 'my fingers are too tired to list more' University and stop slumming in the real world gmg.com. Guardrails will be put up soon or else all the programs below those elite will be in big trouble. I think the day of a freshmen or transfer stepping on campus and then being handed a 5 figure check day 2 will quickly come to an end. Minimally I think NIL will only be available to athletes at the start of their second academic year on the same campus. Or they will be required langauge in any approved NIL deal that continues to pay an athlete even AFTER he transfers from a school but still enrolled and academically eligible. Oz is great until Dorthy comes along and drops a house on you. You would think SMU people would have learned their lesson--- oh my bad I should have said "until Dorthy throws water on you". Now I have to prepare that melting witch gif for when SMU gets busted again. 🤷🏽♂️2 points

Have SMU fans considered the possibility that all of their boosters who envision the school as a big-time football program are either hanging out at Restland or being spoon-fed applesauce by their children as they anticipate a big inheritance? SMU isn't going to win NIL after 35 years in the wilderness. The mountain is too big to climb. The program's mediocrity is too deeply engrained in the public's perception. A potential recruit today could have a father who isn't even old enough to remember when SMU was a football power.2 points

This thread was about LJ and you felt as you usually do to add Trump. Not all companies in China are bad but it is well know that the Nike plant in Laixi, Shandong province has long used forced/slave Uyghur laborers. But please, help me with an example where Trump called out someone who spoke up against what China was doing and defended China in their use of Slave Laborers, or maybe that's OK with you since you can't get the SJW recognition by supporting them and blame the evil Conservatives.2 points

The past two semesters my son has had college teachers who have assigned projects and were very specific on the way you had to respond and present information and how that correlated to your grade. It was very clear agenda setting if you wish to get a higher grade. In these cases, regardless of what side of any ideology you're on this is wrong.1 point

ND can stay independent, teams line up to play them and draw big crowds and have their own TV deal. When you think it cant get better they have Touchdown Jesus and lets not forget Rudy.1 point

Agree. It's not just the financial loss on the program for all the above, it's also the negative perception of the football program in media and to outsiders. Ranked #106 of 131. 14-21 in last three years. Hard to justify keeping the coach of that around.1 point

The criminal justice system will never change as long as liberals keep lying about statistics. You can't make change when your basis for it is a lie. About 10.5 million people are arrested in the US each year, but yes, coin flip she'd be shot. US law enforcement kill 5 million per year. Hug your family members tonight, everybody. 🙄1 point
