How do you call it a mistake? He did not get rid of him on purpose. When a p5 decides to throw money at your assistant you're rarely if ever going to be able to compete with them9 points

Agreed. Personally, one of my biggest mistakes was not growing another 3 inches to pass the six foot mark.7 points

You had to know plenty of schools were watching him. He has done a great job. Whether he stays or goes, I agree with @bstnsportsfan3--he has been a home run hire.6 points

I hope not he has done wonders for this program and they are just on the cusp of becoming a perennial contender5 points

Graham Harrell – Offensive Coordinator/Quarterbacks Coach (First season at WVU) One of Brown’s biggest offseason moves was the hiring of Harrell, a former record-setting QB at Texas Tech who has quickly become one of the most respected offensive minds in the sport. Harrell has served stints as OC and quarterbacks coach at North Texas (2016-18) and USC (2019-21), forming a relationship with new WVU quarterback JT Daniels at the latter stop. Last season, USC led the Pac-12 in passing offense, red zone offense and third down conversion percentage, ranking in the top 20 nationally in each category. Harrell also produced back-to-back top 25 offenses at North Texas. read more: https://www.wboy.com/goldandbluenation/wvu-football/2022-wvu-football-roster-review-head-coach-and-offensive-assistants/amp/4 points

Next in line is SMU, who just submits 214 to NCAA as their official attendance figure. It's close enough, right?4 points

Could it be possible that he was a finalist and chose UNT over Tech? That's what I'm thinking happened. No offense but Lubbock is not the best place in the world to reside. Especially compared to Denton and DFW.4 points

I guess he can build that ULL like program in Lubbock. Very bad news, but he is leaving the program a lot better than he found it. If he starts taking players with him, than it could decimate the program.4 points

Pretty sure they didn’t even have our fight song in the game, much less “Fly Like an Eagle.”4 points

But I will say if he does leave Wren has done a master full job in his hiring and I fully expect him to find someone to keep the momentum going and then some4 points

Heard from a reliable source that Delong is leaving to coach Texas Tech. Announcement next week. Sucks to lose a really good coach.3 points

You don't fault coaches for losing assistants to higher profile/salaried positions. You can look at your overall budget and ask what can be done to improve our financial situation.3 points

Tulane is not in any way a natural rival to NT. They would be a natural rival to Rice perhaps but they have much different academic standards than us and are too far away to be a rival. Plus we have barely played them. If we are going to strive to have a rival that is academically out of reach I would suggest Rice since they are in-state foes.3 points

Losing Harrell was a big mistake for Littrell. The offense has struggled ever since he left IMHO.3 points

I don’t think we need to keep playing Sun Belt teams myself. I wish them no ill will but all they will do is talk about hey we have a better record against the AAC and crap like that.3 points

There was a feature where you could add your own music for certain points in the game for teams. For example, I added a recording of our fight song for UNT scores and Welcome to the Jungle for kickoffs. Also had Hey Baby (or whatever it’s called) for the end of 3rd quarters. Goofy, but kinda fun.3 points

didn't UTSA put their area code on their helmets last year? Is this a UT memo?3 points

I literally live in Denton. It's nice to stay plugged into the local team up here. Top rivals for SMU in new CUSAAC: actual hate: 1. Memphis 2. Tulsa, casual: 3. Navy 4. Tulane UNT could supplant #3 or #4 pretty easy if it starts being a competitive game3 points

It would be nice to win our SIXTH game in a row over UTEP in front of a sell out crowd.3 points
-
It's easy. Step 1: Acknowledge rivalry with SMU Step 2: oops, no more room for another rival. Step 3: UTSA games are still fun, though!3 points
-
SMU My fandom understanding is that you can only have one rival in each sport, so that's it.3 points

I get what you are saying and god knows filling up my truck is painful. My only thing is can't the guy be given a chance to adjust his stated policies and be allowed to make a smooth transition? He's clearly trying the best he can to address the gas prices and I think we should give him a chance to right the ship before demanding he step down. Why can't the oil companies give in a little bit here for the sake of the country?2 points

I wouldn't mind GH coming back to NT as HFC. My next statement (to my wife)...."pass me some more Kool Aid please"!2 points

When I saw he was bald I was kind of skeptical that we would hire him. Coach DeLong has a full head of hair and the players like that more in recruiting.2 points

Actually, they are going with “Hey Mother-f’er”. Same music but those silly students changed the lyrics because it is fun, engages the students and is “just cute”.2 points

That’s my exact thought process when I skim GMG. (And you haven’t lived until a Go Zone driver cuts you off and slams on the brakes to let someone out in a median.)2 points

with the look of the crowd it looks like we could get by with short buses. I mean we don't need big buses to carry so few people. on a side note does go zone hire only bad drivers?2 points
