  1. She chose to play for someone else. I cared before. Don't care now. Don't wish her bad, just don't care about players that leave.

  2. Look, you're the exception to the rule...and you know it. SMU has a lot of cash, always have, always will. What they don't have is a lot of fans. They need to get Dallas to desperately adopt them like TCU has had with FW for decades now. The problem is that Dallas has teams they already cheer for and there is no civic connection there like FW has with its unique city. SMU is using three things to its advantage right now and its genius. They have cash to pay, a smaller college in North Dallas to enroll in that has great business ties nationally, and they play in a good conference for the G5. They will be able to make their way for a while as long as money is a big factor to help with recruiting.

  6. Well sort of an update. I don’t know if anyone here has been following this story, but the fantasy player that caused all the ruckus between these two MLB players in their fantasy league is none other than our Jeff Wilson. It may not be in this story, but in the others online about this brouhaha mention him by name as the player one of these guys was accused of “hiding” on his bench. Crazy times we live in. https://nypost.com/2022/05/29/video-shows-the-moment-tommy-pham-slapped-joc-pederson/

  11. So is arguing starting salary. None of my employers ever looked at the school I attended and adjusted my salary either way. It was basically known prior to interviewing and posted with the position.

  12. $2b endowment, Top 60 UNSWR, and upper tier graduate programs through Cox and Dedman Law. SMU isn't Rice but its better than Baylor, TCU, etc. by a healthy margin.

  13. What a strange take. So SMU is full of kids that have the mental horsepower to go to Ivy schools. What do UNT kids have the mental horsepower to do?

  16. Like I said I'm not ignoring that there is a significant amount of kids at SMU that come from money. My point is that it certainly isn't something that you won't see at any other major private institution in the country. Most of the inner circle were from working class families that were able to afford SMU b/c of scholarships, grants, etc.

  21. We do perhaps the most inept job of branding in college sports. We have an incredible opportunity with Mean Green and continually blow it. Emphasize the Mean Green and use green and white and cut out the other colors especially the freaking Gray

  26. I think SMU has upped their academic game somewhat in the past 5-10 years but it is not and never will be Rice. It also depends on the major. In engineering, business and especially law SMU is top notch and nationally ranked. On the other hand I think you can argue that the education at UNT for the amount spent is a pretty good value given that the NT tuition is close to what a student might spend at a community college like El Centro or TCJC. NT is a good choice if money is an issue and you aren't worried about things like rankings and starting salary. For example, the lady who catered our Memorial Day gathering just yesterday was a proud NT graduate and she seemed very much on the ball.

  27. Not the exception by any means. Am I naïve enough to think that a lot of SMU kids come from affluence? No. But that can be said for any university. Most of my running buddies were from middle class (or lower middle) families that made college a priority instead of the ski trip or a new F-150 every year. SMU student body isn't any different than TCU, Baylor, Tulane, etc. Its what you get with a private school.

  30. When you're right you're right. I saw part of a USFL game (Tampa Bay vs Philly) over the weekend. Maybe 20 people in the stands. Don't see how that league makes it.

  32. More unnecessary redundant complaining for games that aren’t marketable because of our losing history. You want better than mediocre or bad TV slots? Find a better than mediocre coaching/recruiting staff and get rid of mediocre/bad ones before they can stack up 3 consecutive mediocre/bad seasons and go into possible 4th with 2 years remaining on their contract. The ratings for the games in question will be terrible if we perform as expected. These networks aren’t running a non-profit and Seth sure as heck isn’t paid like he is running one. Judy certainly has her faults. But if I were her I would not take gruff from an underachieving program who happens to be 2nd biggest school in my conference and the one in my largest media market not putting a winning team on the field casual college football TV fans want to see. We haven’t maximized our potential to help a conference sell it’s media right because we lose too much. Maybe if we got a P5 at home every other year in addition to maintaining out of conference home & home series with SMU, I would revel in condemning CUSA leadership & Judy. We didn’t do that and on top of that we haven’t replicated the conference dominance we had for over the Sun Belt in this new conference. Furthermore the worse loss in our post 1995 FBS level history was under the CUSA banner. Those PSU WRs blew by our defense while running over CUSA logos on our field to 66 points. So putting myself in Judy’s shoes our complaining hits a little like Fredo’s complaining about being passed over in The Godfather saga. Stop it whining about TV appearances when they don’t deserved exposure above Stadium TV, Facebook TV, ESPN 3 or some other relatively obscure streaming service. (We crapped the bed for holding up our end of the bargain for what should been a thrilling CUSA finale with more on the line for us than barely qualifying for a “participation bowl”). Responses to the original post should be thanks for sharing and/or what we are looking forward to see in these televised/streamed games. Citing the games with 0 coverage is fair too. But we are in no position throw shots at CUSA, Judy, or our TV partners for bad time slots.

  33. saying Jeff "caused" this implies he did something wrong. Can you explain? Maybe I'm missing something. I see some MLB players getting upset over their fantasy football league.

  34. @untjim1995 folow-up question: do you think Wren and Co's decision to keep coaches around a little longer (like SL) is because of immediate circles? I know we don't have a ton of high dollar donors, but they are there and I wonder what they feel. i think I read a few months back that one of our donors really likes SL.

  37. I thought I was gone after over 3k posts on this page, but man, had to come back and say if UTSA didn’t deserve in, who did? ODU got disrespected, but UTSA had a crime against them. Great season, Roadrunners. You’ll get props when you go to the AAC. Remaining C-USA schools, it ain’t me, but you have to see Judy gets no respect and the league will continue to suffer under her. Please do what we, uab, and Marshall couldn’t do. You future depends on it.View Full Article
