  1. Watched him play and I know the HC at UTPB. Really good pickup. This young man will surprise some people.

  2. Thanks for posting. Need regular reminders of how fortunate we were to have that guy as the face of our program while we did.

  3. We're up 4-0, top of the 3rd. Grand slam bottom of the 1st.

  4. I love our softball team and am one of it's more vocal supporters. The fact remains that the black uniforms aren't representative of the "Mean Green" and should never be worn in any sport aside from maybe an annual blackout game.

  8. Wow. A lot of you guys have forgotten about guys like: Darius Terrell Reggie Pegram Cam Feldt Alec Morris Bryce English Nick Harvey Dominique Harrison Jordan Rucker Jace Ruder Jacob Ferrell Tommy Bush (TBD) These dudes were highly-rated transfers from big time P5 programs over the past 10 years when they came to UNT... and did (or have done) virtually nothing. We had a bunch of other also-ran P5 transfers over the years as well: Reggie Pegram & Jordan Rucker-types who came from P5's but didn't have the crazy offer lists... So, for every Marcus Trice (THE ONLY P5 TRANSFER WHO MADE A GAME-CHANGING IMPACT OVER THE PAST 10 YEARS!!!!), there are a dozen+ P5 transfer guys who barely did anything. And then, you have guys like DeAndre Plantin who started a lot, but just underperformed for what his expectations were. Gunnell not being able to win the Memphis job outright from Henigan (who, admittedly is a fantastic QB) should be a reason for at least a little pause, but some of y'all are full-steam ahead on this guy. Same thing with Neville, who was told by a pretty pedestrian Nebraska team that he's not good enough to crack the 2 deep there. I don't comprehend how y'all can constantly just assume these guys will come here and light it up... history shows they don't. I just can't get excited for these kinds of transfers anymore. Too much heartbreak. Show me.

  9. I know they do and hopefully a very good one, however I wonder about the total lack of coverage after hiring a new head coach. They have apparently signed players, but without any mention at all on the UNT site. The UNT official site does not even include a current roster. I really wonder about UNT sports information department. Makes a big deal of hiring a coach with frankly scant coaching credentials and then follows it up with nothing. There are a few out here that actually enjoy following the so called non-revenue sports. It seems that NT would report any news that just might create some interest.

  10. Offers out of high school....Seton Hall, Minnesota, La Tech, Rice, TCU and Wichita State. From the Houston area (possible connection to Rubin and Aaron??) (hat tip to NT03 for this information)

  12. 5-0 top of the 6th. OSU beat Nebraska 7-4, so if we go on to win, we get the Huskers again.

  13. Adler, I agree 100%. Our school colors have always been Green and White. Period. Not black, not gray. Green and White. The AD is spending money needlessly on stupid color combinations that do not reflect our true school colors. To the Athletic Department.........JUST STOP IT!

  15. I love volleyball and I'm looking forward to seeing this year's team. Wren has a history of hiring great coaches (McCasland and DeLong). Now I looking forward to seeing what our new volleyball and track coaches can do.

  17. I have good news fellers! After a few emails and phone calls, it looks like our friends at laststandhats.com is back online with UNT hats, polos, etc. Good folks who really wanted our business and was able to overcome our cumbersome licensing process. They have the battle flag hat which I'm going to order. Go Mean Green - Softball!

  19. Two SE conference coaches calling one another names! And one accusing the other of cheating regarding recruitment......😲 Damn, the only thing more absurd would-be Adolph Hitler indignantly calling Joseph Stalin a cold-blooded killer......and mass murderer.

  20. We should, SHOULD, be at the point now where tickets to Apogee are hard to come by considering the size of our student body and local alumni base. I wish we would move the band to the lower level of the north end zone and fill up the premium seats with fans.

  21. I would like to see us schedule more MWC teams for home/home. Colorado St, Boise, SDSU, Air Force, etc would all be quality opponents.

  23. Home and home with Cal, Texas Tech, Houston, Wyoming, Baylor, Colorado, and Missouri. Not to mention SMU, Memphis, and Tulane that will become conference games and not count as out of conference like they were when they were scheduled. We only have one road trip without a return in Wisconsin. I think we are doing fine.

  24. Most golfers on the tour played at a university, but they aren't wearing the shirt of their college - very much driven by sponsorships, etc. as to what they are going to wear. However, everytime I've watched that they are mentioned, North Texas has been mentioned - which provides great exposure to the school. When I've read articles about them on the PGA website, it's been mentioned and often is subject of discussion during interviews, so all great stuff for the school.

  25. you lost me on that rationalization. He wasn't good enough to start. Everyone else was bad enough that its was our only passable choice. Just cause you have the job doesn't mean you deserve the job. Just ask coach mumbles.

  26. Does UNT care about track and field? NT track sports accounts for 6 of the 16 teams necessary to qualify for D1 status. In the just concluded CUSA outdoor track and field championship, NT finished fifth in men and a horrible 11 in women. Track is primarily a partial scholarship sport. Something that should greatly favor lower cost state schools in heavy populated areas. In the last 5 years, only 4 years with a conference meets because of Coronavirus, the best finish for the men was 4 in 2021 and women was 5 in 2018. With an almost new facility built a couple of years ago, there are no excuses for NT not to fare better in track and field.

  28. You could add the Kansas city chiefs to our team and I would still remain skeptical with our coaching. Its not the players I have a problem with but they inability to develop the talent. Until the coaches show some sign of life i'll take the "wait and see" approach before congratulating them

  34. I don't disagree. People need to tap the breaks and remember we did lose some proven players to the portal. But I'll add some context to the Gunnell situation. Memphis fans love this kid. They said Gunnell was on his way to being their guy until an injury sidelined him. Henigan came in a earned the starting spot while Gunnell was working his way back. From what I've been told, Gunnell is completely capable of being a premier QB in the AAC for UNT.... if his injuries are behind him. Now, does UNT have someone that can be a Harrell type QB coach for Gunnell? I don't know.
