  3. More than a few. DBA, UTA, and TCU are pretty much the only options for playing Div 1 college baseball in the Metroplex. As someone that was desperately hoping to get a baseball scholarship out of HS back in the day, it is clearly not enough.

  6. Not true. NT played baseball in the Southland Conference from 1984-88; even had a player drafted in 1988. I'm sure we had teams in previous earlier conferences, before Title IX killed men's minor sports.

  10. I saw a lot of the same from him at the spring practice. There were a few nicely thrown balls. But I saw a lot of receivers slowing down to catch his balls too. And this isn’t much different than we saw last season. He always has a few flashes to give you some hope he could be good and a lot of underthrown balls that made you say, “WTF?” I won’t believe any positive reporting about Aune until I can see it in games. I’m not falling for that crap again. Been fooled by it too many times before. I’m still hoping someone else steps up and gets a chance.

  11. my point was these cheap cloth masks don't work, regardless of how the virus is spread. Some people are so self righteous they will beat their chest while wearing basically a piece of underwear over their face and proclaim themselves as saviors.

  12. “Rise” Having said that I’ll gladly take a repeat of 2019 stats over a full season.

  13. I wonder how many of his bad passes were the receivers fault? (Serious question, not being a jerk). Sometimes it was obvious that he and the receiver weren’t on the same page, but sometimes I was just scratching my head wondering how he could throw such a bad pass. Maybe some of those instances were the receivers fault as well.

  22. We'll see. I think reads and timing are more about coaching/preparedness, and less about instinct (though, the latter is still a part of it). and did we not have a QB coach last season? I'll defer to you, because you've seen them in the spring. I have not. I'm rooting for Ruder, personally. Lastly, would be interesting to look at the practice reps Austin and Ruder have over their careers, and compare it to in-game reps. Practice only goes so far; would rather be talking about lots of in-game reps.

  23. Won't get into the entire mask debate, but in my opinion, the worst part of the entire mask issue is that it has drastically accelerated erosion of the public's trust in their government. It has been a clown show from day one.

  24. Thank you and meanrob for the feedback. I discontinued my season tickets about 5 years ago. I always donate regardless but it was depressing not being able to get anyone to come with me or even give my extra tickets away. They definitely need better sales efforts if they aren’t going to awe fans with an undefeated or 1 loss season. Pretty certain that won’t happened with Seth here. A coach just on the plus side of mediocre just can’t do that here we don’t prestigious football history here or recent alumni who became NFL stars. The department as a whole is doing well but football is lame mule not pulling its weight.

  25. Not sure this is relevant. The difference between what Aune is and what we want out of an elite CUSA QB performance is not the difference between a 22 year old and a 30 year old. I think athletically he's fine. His problems are reads and timing.

  27. We can be cautiously optimistic, but with a heavy does of caution. Keep in mind a ton of that success Aune enjoyed was against dog shit competition and/or teams that just played very poorly.

  28. If we are gonna have to have non-football stuff here, I'd rather not talk about stuff that has nothing to do with whether NT wins conference, and instead would prefer to talk about the golf ladies, who won the conference tournament today in a really nice minute come from behind win.

  31. I think this is technically true as UNT has stayed well-ahead of the Title XI requirement. However, I would expect we would add a women's sport with any new men's support to continue being well ahead of the requirement. UNT already has a women's Lacrosse club team that travels ... would be pretty easy to elevate that team to conference play, and the AAC has Lacrosse as a conference sport.

  33. I wasn't too worried about the virus either (fit, early 40s here), but if there is a mask/method in place that prevents me from passing to other people, especially people that should be worried, then of course I am going to consider it.

  34. Warning - Rant incoming It should always be about personal risk/reward ratio. I'm 29, fairly fit, and don't go out much other than to work and the store. I'm not particularly worried about the virus. Now my parents who are in their late 60's and smoked the majority of their lives (both have since quit thank God) might be more fearful of it, and rightfully so. When the government starts imposing punishments for being unvaccinated or not locking down, it forces an artificial risk/reward system that trumps your own. Do this or go to jail is usually the end equation with most laws. I could not wear a seatbelt, and if I get in an accident then I face the consequence of that action. When the State decides the consequence for me, the choice is no longer as easy because I have a proverbial gun pointed to my head while making the choice. The government is the most selfish. They don't do anything that doesn't help them, and if you're not in that class, then you're the one getting screwed. Rules for thee but not for me. People act like the "greater good" must be decided by the government, and that's the problem. It doesn't affect them. They're not getting fired for mask mandates, they're giving themselves raises. So while we're arguing about masks, the fed is printing trillions of dollars, Congress is giving themselves more money we don't have(if you want to know true inflation look at the % salary increase Congress gives themselves every year) and they're spending it on pointless wars, draconian drug enforcement, and bailing out massive corporations. Meanwhile wages for normal people have stagnated, nobody can afford to buy a home while corporations like blackrock and vanguard buy up properties left and right, driving up prices and pushing normal people out of the market. Then inevitably when another pandemic hits or the housing market crashes, the "benevolent" government will give us $50 and a stick of gum, and tell us it'll be alright while they continue crushing us with stupid and useless laws. Bailing themselves and their corporate interests out while we all suffer. Maybe people act selfishly because they know none of it matters anyways. Take care of your family and yourself because that's what truly matters TL;DR - F**k the government.

  36. Does McCasland grant (pun) interviews with local Denton media? Would love to learn more about the off-season. What is he looking for? Is everyone coming back? What does he generally see in recruits that most other coaches don’t see? What are the goals for the coming season? Any top kids he’s in on that we may have heard of? Who is his favorite NBA player/coach? Any notable pre-season tournaments? If he were a tree, what kind would he be? We need more info than we are getting!

  37. Let it go. You will feel better. I am not sure he is all that good of and X’s & O’s coach at this point. Botched picking the starting QB and doubled down by not committing to the run game until he was on the verge of getting fired. Stress out next year because it appears Seth’s lame duck status is just what the AD order for 2022. If the AD is as smart as we think he is, he had a short list of potential head coaches with confirmed mutual interest and maybe a hand shake agreement. Any highly touted player Seth brought in this past recruiting period is likely to be gone when Seth is let go anyway.

  38. Maybe 1. I see one kid from Muenster, one from Coppell, one from Corinth, and one from Keller. So one of those might have wanted to stay (a little) closer to home. DBU has a history of good BB and UNT has a history of none. Why would any of the others on the roster come to NT?
