  1. When we lose a conference game on the road, the other team throws a party at mid-court and their students rush the floor

  2. Looking forward to watching a rested 7-man rotation play some Mean Green brand basketball.* The website didn’t have the option to buy tickets for Saturday yet, or I would have bought those too.

  3. Yep and we got the “over rated!” Chant going too. You have to be “rated” in the first place to be labeled as “over rated” I take it as a compliment.

  5. Wow, your attitude changed a bunch in 9 months.

  6. With zero guarantee it would work. It’s entirely possible the next two guys aren’t on a level to offset the rested players. What if we worked a 10 man rotation, but ended up 3rd in the West, with a 60ish NET, and a CIT invite? Do you prefer that, or where we are now?

  7. Last Saturday vs. LA Tech was special, confetti, cutting down nets, championship t-shirts and caps and a wrestling belt for TBIII. It all had an air of “finality” even though there were two regular season games left. We were due for a letdown and I think it was evident against UTSA but they are so bad, we were able to struggle and still win, but it all caught up with us yesterday. Now the challenge is to refocus and realize goal #2 is now at hand, the conference tournament championship. We have to recapture that grittiness, determination, and attention to detail that this team has to have to achieve their goals. We aren’t a team that will “out talent” our opponent, but one that wins through doing the little things right and taking care of business. I believe in this team and think the best is yet to come.

  8. Wow, this decision sure bit N'Yah on the tail. She left a program where she was a star player having the time of her life and transferred to a school where she sits unhappily at the end of the bench for a cellar dweller. N'Yah has zero points, zero rebounds, zero steals, and zero assists riding the pine through the last four games while playing 2.5 minutes in each, all losses. 2021-22 SEASON STATS PTS 3.3 REB 2.3 AST 2.0 FG% 26.7

  10. True, we have been able to overcome the curse several times, yet we always won in Green and White to build the streak. Hopefully we learned our lesson and will just wear our school colors, Green and White, in perpetuity.

  13. Drove to the DFW area and back today and my phone died at 1:45pm and didn't come back on until after 4p. Maybe it was best, but I stop reading the thread when you made the above comment. You talking down to McCasland and stating he needs a lesson is comedy gold. How many games have you won coaching? How many has Mac? Titles? Sometimes it is better to just be quiet.

  14. Bringing someone in to “take up minutes” or “not touch the ball” works great…until your opponent goes right at them on offense, and you see either your lead evaporate or their lead grow. We lost by TWO. Let me say that again…two. And if we’re panicking because we looked “tired” I guess it’s a good thing we have 5 days before the next one. I mean, it’s not as if Grant has led us to more single season CUSA wins than any program in league history…or back-to back-to back league titles after being picked SIXTH in the preseason. I think I’ll defer to his judgement just a tad.

  15. We went 29 for 58 from the free throw line on this road trip. That’ll get us beat every game from here on out. We’re good but we cannot make up that many points vs quality opponents. Especially when we limit possessions the way we do.

  16. There is nothing more I want than an alum of this university, who sells this university day in and day out and who is a great ambassador, to have a ton of success with a team at this university. I really hope we can shock the world here

  19. This was Simmons. At the time time, I didn’t realize how much that injury would mean to the rotation. Simmons for Abou today would have been huge! Fouls happen. Today was tough. It’ll be okay. Let’s see what team shows up Thursday. My money’s on the Mean Green!

UNT (23-5, 16-2 C-USA) was down 17-2 to start the game and down 14 at the half but fought back by outscoring UTEP (18-12, 11-7 C-USA) 47-35 in the second half. However, they fell just short. "UTEP came out physical and made tough baskets to start the game," said head coach Grant McCasland. "I love the fight of our group but we didn't give them 40 minutes of toughness." North Texas was led Saturday by Thomas Bell who recorded his sixth career double-double finished with 20 points and 11 rebounds — seven of which were offensive rebounds. (RV) UNT who sealed the Conference USA West Division title last week with a 56-49 victory over Louisiana Tech at the Super Pit heads into the 2022 C-USA Men's Basketball Championship in Frisco next and will play Thursday in the quarterfinals. UNT is the reigning champs. "We just can't have starts like we did today," McCasland said. "But nothing has changed. I still love our fight and we're still the regular season champs. We know what we have to do next week in Frisco. We've done it before."

  26. Yeah this was an issue way before Fine left. Pearson, Bean, Martin, Kuehne all signed while Fine was here. Bean was by far the best of the bunch and even he is borderline at best.

  27. Sure, that's all it was about, yeah, until the curse was actually invoked in El Paso. We tempted fates one too many times and got beaten in a game we should have won. Although really ugly in photographs, the black uniforms looked even worse on television.

  30. OK, so you're in a car, in this case with someone that you are trying to protect, and a bunch of pissed of twits are blocking your path and trying to get in the car, what would you do? Wait, you'd probably let them do whatever they want.

  31. How is it certain? We need to win three games to get there - doable. If we don't get into the NCAA our NIT bid is automatic since we have the best record in the regular season. NIT takes regular season champs that don't get in the NCAA.

  32. The original intent as I understood it was - coaches get to leave due to get a better job (or they're fired), and it was unfair that players would be stuck there. When this system was first proposed I think it was only meant to be for players in that situation (the coach they signed with is gone), but it quickly got to include everyone.

  33. But there wouldn't be a significant reduction. You would only lose three to 4 seats per row. A minimal loss compared to the revenue generated. I'm sure this wouldn't be a hold up.

  34. Athletics would be putting money into a building they hope to get out of. At this point, considering he has already said he wants to build a new arena, it would be fiscally irresponsible to keep putting money into the Pit above the bare minimum. And those are *quote* loge seats *unquote* anyway. They look awful.

  35. What is the problem? Seems like it would be an easy fix. You're not losing much in seat allocation and construction would be simple.

  36. So we talk about how "special" this team and how we should be getting more respect - then someone celebrates beating the team with the best road records in the NCAA's and we make fun if them? Guess in the end, deep down, a lot of people don't really think were that special of a BB school. P.S. the UTEP BB players called the fans down to come celebrate with them, they did not rush the floor. Guess they (UTEP players) have more respect for our team than some here

  42. I wanna credit UTEP. I thought they played tremendous defense in the 1st half. Much more aggressive, focused, and physical. We didn’t match that intensity until well into the 2nd half after we’d already dug an enormous hole for ourselves.

  43. This response from ColoradoEagle is everything you need to know about why we can't have civilized discussions. People like that believe anybody who disagrees with them is racist, classist, homophobic, etc... because of differences in opinion and feels like those who disagree with them are beneath them. So, in short, somebody like me who is a child of immigrants, first generation college student, grew up with a single mother below the poverty line, hispanic, and who's dad suffers from mental health and was in-and-out of my life growing up because of it would be labeled as racist, classist, and everything else because of a difference of opinion which I have based on personal experience. Members of the left have a sense of superiority and anybody who disagrees is ignorant and therefore inferior and unworthy of their time. If you meet criteria of a minority category and disagree with them, you just don't know better.

  44. now seeing video, I gotta love the lefty students shouting over a father/speaker with regards to gender transition, by yelling "F*ck You Facists". Yeah real classy, but hey it allowed them get their 5 secs of fame while shouting down a father who lost their child. Yet they want to call out the CYT. The voice for tolerance showing their intolerance to anything they disagree with it.

  45. so they want them gone because of "speech that they hate" not "hate speech" Honestly they should let them speak and let the campus and world make their own decisions on how nutty they truly are, that's the reason I do not want to censor CNN or MSNBC or even FOX. Tired of group think pushing their own agendas, bunch of sheep following on both sides of the aisle.
