UNT Basketball's winning streak has finally sparked the local tv stations' covering the Mean Green. Saw a video clip of UNT-FAU on Channel 8 during tonight's sportscast and saw one last week (I believe it was Channel 11). Winning does wonders....GMG12 points

For God so loved the Mean Green that they didn't even need strong play at the 1?10 points

UAB has exhibited some erratic recent play, but they will be fired up and ready for the Green. I like NT's chances, but they are going to have to play a lot better than the last game.9 points

That was enraging, but also hilarious to see them botch every gift given to them. This makes sure we snap to attention if we see them again in Frisco (not that I doubt this team’s ability to get up for games.)8 points

I think some of the mad dash to sign kids to NIL deals is going to fade. Lot of business owners are going to look at the numbers and conclude the deals just don’t produce a sufficient return on investment. So some will quit doing them. Then you are left with a few legit deals and a lot of some successful booster throwing the money to try to win. That’s where things get scary. What if Mr. Booster wants the 5-11 QB from his kid’s school who racked up big numbers because of the system the coach runs? Coach going to sign the kid because if he doesn’t Mr Booster might pout and not help land the guys they really want? What happens if a stud player makes Mr Booster mad and he doesn’t want to keep the money train going because he thinks the kid is disrespectful or arrogant? I suspect it’s hello portal. The kids who build big followings on Twitter, Instagram, TikTok and YouTube can finally cash in. That’s a good thing. Truth is few college players have any notable NIL value. Look at the NBA. We all know that there are guys with massive contracts with shoe companies and whatever, but there’s quite a few starters with pretty modest deals and lot of guys in the NBA their endorsement contract is nothing more than wear our shoes and we will give you X dollars store credit to buy our merchandise. The 11th and 12th guys on a typical roster don’t have a deal at all. One of the first NIL deals at AState was a local pizza place signing the #2 RB which told me the owner is a fan because every game the board is loaded with why isn’t he getting more carries posts. They went for the fan favorite 🙂8 points

On the road for work, so only catching up on everything now…some quick observations… - presumably it’s the same basketball venue, but back in the JJ era, FAU made the deliberate decision to shrink their venue capacity with the idea a more intimate arena would create a better atmosphere. I don’t hate that idea. - I’m maybe there most critical poster of Thomas Bell, or at least his role in the team…but as I sat at dinner impatiently waiting for Gamecast to update the last two minutes, every time I saw UNT had scored I said to myself, “Bell got those buckets” and I was right - we just won a game with a 3:16 assist to turnover ratio. Someone please explain that to me - we lose this game, not to mention LaTech, Western, Marshall…if we had beaten Buffalo earlier this season. That loss is why we’re here. @Andrew7 points

It was a great road test, not everyone is going to be dominated by our stifling defense. Some teams punch back when they get punched, it helps the players stay on their toes. I've got to hand it to the guys for grinding out a tough road game, vs a very good home team. I felt that by the 2nd half they adjusted their mentality and accepted that this was going to be a physical game to the end. We wasted a couple of possessions in the last 7 mins of the half or so that would have given us some breathing room. Free throws continue to put us in tighter situations than we need, we must improve on that.7 points

I can't believe they didn't call the foul when Perry was clearly hit on the arm to lose it out of bounds. Then the foul on the 3 for Drez was awful. 4 inches of space between the two and they call that?7 points

The gym was rough but it was loud. The band rocked the beats and because it was so small they got the crowd into this swaying chant which was pretty cool. Again easy when I could reach across the court and slap you. This win took some sting out of that trip to FAU for the football championship. The owls are pretty good and they have a battle with MTSU while we have our showdown in BHAM on Saturday. Living in Mountain West Country for many years I watched a lot of Steve Fisher defense at San Diego state. It was smothering, frustrating and wreaked havoc on UNLV’s rhythmic offense. That is what our Mean Green do. it is awesome to watch. FAU rushed several shots just because they finally got an open look only to see it rim in and pop out. Deflation sighs poured from the crowd. Meanwhile the Mean Green didn’t flinch - steady, focused, determined. It was so awesome to watch in person. beat UAB GMG6 points

One of my friends, who isn’t really a NT fan, messaged me and asked why we were playing in a high school gym🤣4 points

We may need a smaller arena but the FAU gym is no model. It looks like a high school gym.4 points

Well you should be here then, because the scoreboard situation is the woat. Gets stuck, doesn't keep time. Takes about a minute for a basket for either team to show up. When the horn sounded for half time the clock read 2:13 and the score said 23-18. Maddening4 points

I can’t get over how bad their gym is. It’s like if the Pohl Rec center had expandable bleachers. Combined with the yokel broadcast team, and the malfunctioning scoreboard, it’s hard to watch. The Super Pit is dark, but at least it’s big and an arena.4 points
