  1. Tested positive for Covid last week and have been sheltering in place for a almost a week now. I had both shots(Moderna), plus the booster last year. I guess I have a very mild case. Slight cough and that’s about it. Best therapy for me was watching highlights of the annihilation of NutsaK. Fun times. I feel better already.

  3. The #UNT G. Brint Ryan College of Business has received the second-largest donation in its history from alumnus Wilson Jones (’85) and his wife, Jane. The Jones’ $5 million gift will create The Wilson Jones Career Center — a new space in the college that will provide more adequate and accessible support for career readiness. The generosity of Wilson and Jane Jones will improve career outcomes and opportunities for our students, and will enable our students to better develop industry relationships that will have long-term implications on the college’s reputation and rank. As one of the largest business schools in the nation, our goal is for every business student to participate in a degree-appropriate applied professional experience during their academic career. The Wilson Jones Career Center will help us achieve these goals and increase college outcomes as it serves as the essential bridge for Ryan College of Business students to access the world beyond UNT. Wilson’s recent generosity is not his first example of putting others first. Recently retired as the CEO of Oshkosh Corporation, Jones has lived by the motto: “Do the Right Thing.” He stood by these values because he firmly believes that a company that does the right thing ultimately benefits everyone — from team members and customers to suppliers and communities. This philosophy earned the Oshkosh company a No. 8 ranking on Barron’s 100 Most Sustainable Companies list, a Glassdoor Employees’ Choice Award for being one of the best places to work, recognition as a Military Friendly Employer by Victory Media and one of Ethisphere Institute’s World’s Most Ethical Companies, as well as a spot as one of The Wall Street Journal's “Best Managed Companies” from 2017 to 2019. Jones was named one of the top CEOs of 2018 and was honored with the UNT Distinguished Alumni Award and inducted into the G. Brint Ryan College of Business Hall of Fame in 2021. We are proud and honored to have the support of Wilson and Jane Jones as we take our college to the next level and support our students in new and exciting ways.

  6. Um, DeepGreen's sick. My best friend's sister's boyfriend's brother's girlfriend heard from this guy who knows this kid who's going with the girl who saw DeepGreen pass out at 31 Flavors last night. I guess it's pretty serious. ... Get well Phill, we love ya .

  7. The pep band is usually one of the biggest things that brings energy at college arenas through their music and chanting. I always thought ours was pretty good at that.

  8. her teams have gotten worse as season goes on, tired of excuse making or Jalie, love we have an alum here, but look at team last year, was a on a roll, she got a nice extension (warranted or not) then floundered down the stretch and lost 1st round of Conference. We all should expect better from all sports.

  9. UNT MEN’S BASKETBALL: Scott Named C-USA Freshman of the Week Again Scott Earns Second Consecutive Freshman of the Week Honor DALLAS, Texas – For the second consecutive week North Texas men's basketball freshman Aaron Scott has been named the Conference USA Freshman of the Week. The 2021-22 C-USA Players of the Week awards are presented by Surf & Turf Golf and announced by the league each Monday. Scott was perfect from the field this past week in the Mean Green's two games combined and the Spring, Texas, native averaged over six points per game. He scored nine points on Saturday in UNT's 70-63 win over Middle Tennessee as he came off the bench and played a season-high 30 minutes. This is the second consecutive week he's been named the C-USA Freshman of the Week. He becomes the first North Texas freshman to earn the honor twice in a season since Ryan Woolridge and AJ Lawson each won it multiple times in the 2016-17 season. Woolridge also earned it in consecutive weeks that season. Scott is the first C-USA freshman this year to earn the award in consecutive weeks. His nine points on Saturday versus Middle Tennessee are the second-most he's scored in a game this season. Scott averaged three rebounds per game this week as well. UNT is on road this coming week as they travel to Marshall on Thursday and then WKU on Saturday. The games are scheduled to tip-off at 6 p.m. CT and 3 p.m. CT, respectively.

  11. I don't think members of congress should be allowed to own individual share investments given the risk of insider trading. I missed the outrage on the board I guess in 2020 when several Republican senators seemed to time their stock trades to news they got about how bad COVID would be... https://www.forbes.com/sites/jackkelly/2020/03/20/senators-accused-of-insider-trading-dumping-stocks-after-coronavirus-briefings/?sh=79bce5ee4a45

  14. Sorry I am not willing to accept 30 point losses after being told on this platform that this is one of JM’s better teams. We are a .500 team that has also given away 2 home losses to inferior opponents. This is what mounts most of my frustration. I do acknowledge that MT is a top tier program but they were picked 2nd and us 3rd. Shouldn’t be that much of gap, especially with the upper class we have.

  18. If I were in charge of marketing, I would approach every student organization and the NT Alumni association and organize tailgates in the old Fouts parking lot. I’d even mark off (or rope off) a section and call it something…maybe even bring back the “Pit Crew” moniker. And I’d give local bands a chance to play this area for Saturday games. Make basketball games an event that lasts longer than the length of the game itself like it is for football.

  19. Or, and just thinking out loud here, maybe half our dedicated fans know that voicing concerns to those that can make a change is FAR more effective than rehashing the same complaints ad nauseam on a message board

  20. Amazing, the person in this country that is best positioned for insider trading, is able to achieve a $30M gain off her questionably accumulated $50M portfolio. I am not saying that anything's illegal or unethical, because maybe she's just a really good guesser, like Hillary Clinton was. .

  21. First, this is not a "I think we should hire GH" post. I think it's strange that with all of the changes, his name does not seems to be coming up on and of the "rumors" for HC or OC. Maybe he has something lined up, but just strange that someone's whose name came up a lot is not getting mentions.

  22. I watched him come off of the bench vs. UMass and was immediately impressed with his length and athleticism. Give him some more time with McCasland and he could become dangerous.

  31. I have had three employees out recently with Covid. The first one had two rounds of shots and was boosted. She decided to test after a bout of nausea. The nausea went away but she developed a cough and no other symptoms. The second employee tested because her fiance was sent to test after being exposed to a co-worker that tested positive. She tested positive and has been off without any symptoms. She is not vaccinated. The third employee, who is vaccinated, had the virus months ago and caught it again. She said her symptoms were worse this time, but she recovered in a more timely manner. Her symptoms were similar to the flu.

  33. Greenminer has a good point. I attended UNT from 2005 to 2010, and I was part of the original Pit Crew. When I first attended games, the attendance was pretty sparse. However, as JJ developed the program, brought in quality recruits, and started winning games along with multiple NCAA tourney appearances, I watched attendance significantly improve over time. It wasn't unusual for a weekend game to have 4000 to 5000+ in attendance. And I recall the Pit nearly full on several occasions when we brought a name opponent. The last I recall (that's not a given) was either Texas Tech or Oklahoma State I believe...It was packed and raucous, and we won the game. Then Benford came in and destroyed everything over five years of his "coaching" ... Benford was a total disaster for our program and set us back five to 10 years....Will probably take another five to 10 years more to rebuild...We also didn't have a pandemic going on in those years. With continued success, I do think we could get back to the peak of JJ years or better.

  34. Likewise, I tested positive last week for COVID19 and FLU even though I had the two shots, booster and flu shots. First night with bad chills and mild cough. Next night chills gone but cough worse. Starting to pull out of it though. Much like how I felt after the Portland state debacle under McCarney. Sooo, what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger ??

  37. Total speculation, but I think our program needs 5+ years of uninterrupted, high-level success if we want to see a dent in the Denton culture. I do think Wren is doing the right thing and we are on the right path in MBB. Football is a different story: I've talked to too many alumni friends who are tired of getting talked into attending a big game, an attempt to pull them in, only to watch us have our rears handed to us....sometimes on national TV.

  38. Yeah they were really into that chant haha. I mean honestly I don’t cheer and get loud. I am there to watch the game, but I like good basketball and focus on other things. It is a little weird with the random defense videos; however are they aloud to run them during play? I know college has rules about music and such playing while the ball is live. Wish it was more like NBA in that regard.

  39. My grandson and I had lunch at Kenny's on Legacy today and talked to an older couple from NDSU. They had no tickets but drove from Bismark for the pep rally and before and after game events. I said to myself that they really need to get a life. Then I remember that while living in St. Louis 1968 to 1970 one year my wife and I drove to Lebanon Missouri and rented a motel room to watch North Texas play Tulsa on television in black and white, a distance of about 175 miles one way. We lost the game. She divorced me. I considered that a win.

  41. Odus Mitchell's last game. NTSU has 40 points and a big lead. Line up for the PAT, and the crowd starts booing. They wanted 42 points for 42 years. And they got 'em. Was it a Steve Ramsey pass play? It's been a while...

  42. He walked off the job, made a spectacle of himself and nobody knows what he had done to that point or what Tampa Bay had possibly done to help him. He's an adult and should act like one. Tampa Bay paid him millions, he can afford help if it really is an emotional issue.

  43. Not to mention other QB's coming in and being servicable. Quinn Shanbour led some scoring drives against Iowa and FAU. Alec Morris almost won the bowl game. Kason Martin(albeit in garbage time) playing well in the New Mexico bowl. Every QB Harrell coached looked way more competent than what we have now. It's a direct result of the playcalling and QB coaching, both of which have taken a nosedive since he left.
