Hell yes there was adversity. There was a six game losing streak, a star player was arrested for domestic assault, a top recruit was digitally lynched, and many fans, including myself, were questioning the direction of the football program. It was a shitty situation. These players and coaches could easily have thrown in the towel and given into the adversity. They didn't. They fought through the adversity, gave us a five game winning streak, and qualified for a bowl game. Every one of these players has done more than enough to win our support. There certainly was adversity and I thank them for fighting though it.15 points

No doubt injuries and the season starting QB not panning out mixed with issues at the QB coordinator position. Maybe overcoming 6 losses in a row was adverse as well.8 points

I’m sure you’re the one, but 99.99999999% don’t turn down money they earned in their contract that their employer willingly gave them.6 points

you're the best, Brett. reporting pretty standard contract incentives for coaches and ADs right this group has worked itself into peak-lather. a beautiful little twist of the knife. ah, poetry.4 points

all these cancellations are due to over testing of players and staff who are asymptomatic. Watch for some changes to be made, NFL already starting, expect it quicker if the CFB Playoff gets hit.4 points

This is awesome. Now that the arduous task of the national search for a volleyball coach is completed, maybe we can all settle down and enjoy what is shaping up to be an awesome basketball season.....4 points

if the AD makes any decisions at all based upon what is posted on GMG.com, we need to fire more than a coach.4 points

If one these said he wanted to I don’t care how many you have I would bring him into the qb room and competition 🏈3 points

Let's give it another try! If there's a rule against more than one bowl, maybe they'll grant an exception. 🤣3 points

I put down 7-6. I thought we would get a good matchup for a bowl (we did…) and finally win one. Well… I don’t think the injuries to receivers really hurt us that much. Even better talented receivers can’t catch balls thrown 10 feet over their head, at their feet, behind them… We changed to a run dominant team because we don’t have an accurate QB on the roster that can run a spread offense.3 points

Tweeted out earlier today. I would assume he is looking for playing time. Best of luck to him.3 points

Not only that, we had a signee murdered just a few months before he was to step foot on campus. https://dentonrc.com/sports/colleges/mean_green/unt-signee-willie-simmons-iii-killed-in-austin-shooting/article_402cb1a2-08c5-5484-8dd3-ecc3b6a43ac1.html2 points

So ... it's adversity when the other teams try to keep you from winning the games?2 points

Wrong. We traveled to Liberty after the Arkansas game. We absolutely annihilated them, 47-7. The LaTech game was a nut kick, still. We unveiled the Mean Joe statue before the game. That was attended by a bunch of NFL Hall of Famers. Then I sat in my seat in the stadium and watched over and over new people trying to find their seats in a stadium they had never been to. I have been going to games for 20 years and hadn’t ever seen that…and haven’t since. We had the casual UNT fan aboard for a few short weeks.2 points

Man, based strictly on her experience as a player, I’m willing to hold judgment on this hire. All American and National Player of the Year while playing at UCLA.2 points

eventually these kids will see how many 'portal' players don't get scholarships anywhere else. The 'I love my brothers but I'm leaving' mantra will slow down to a trickle if they actually understand the landscape of college football. If you're not getting playing time on a lower end team, odds show that you'll be one of the many that overvalue their abilities and end up in the endless wormhole called the portal.2 points

Agree, but sadly it was followed up by one of the biggest failures when we lost to la tech at home the very next game. We were actually getting top 25 votes.2 points

Has the band always done the same routine all season each season? I feel like they used to change it up each game, but that stopped at some point.2 points

I'll agree with the Arkansas win as the high point. Definitely preluded the furthest fall/kick in the nuts that hurt the worst with the LA Tech loss.2 points

Not sure where you are getting your information, but my family is from Arkansas and my cousin is a graduate and pretty big donor. Morris was not liked by the players and was a disaster, period. He was not screwed by anyone, he was his own worst enemy. We can do much, much better than Morris in the future.2 points

I hate when ADs comment publicly on a coach’s status like Del Conte did. I think he has done a lot of things right at Texas, but publicly acknowledging the criticism of a coach he hired in year 1 was cringeworthy to me. If I was an AD, you’d hear from me about a coach’s status when they’re hired, extended, resign, or fired. The rest of their time employed by me, you’d get “I’m doing everything in my power to get Coach <insert name> what he/she needs to be successful. As soon as one of the status changes previously mentioned occurs, I’ll let you all know.”2 points

Neither said nor implied..... but thanks for an extremely nuanced, albeit completely inaccurate, interpretation..... Right up there with "look, we beat a ranked team on the last game of the season, all is well again with UNT football, nothing else to see or do here" (just an example of an extremely nuanced and completely inaccurate interpretation). The service this board does is provide free insight into what more passionate and involved alumni and fans think about events surrounding the athletics department. Often times it is an unfiltered, matter-of-fact perspective which can be difficult to ascertain by any other means. To deny its value is to say "we don't care what they think, just show us the good polling data." In the same breadth that regardless of what you thought of President Trump, when he was posting on Twitter, the country world was given direct access his unfiltered thoughts and views. Take them as you will but you can't deny the value in that kind of access. This board is a litmus test for the athletics department on a wide array of issues, and occasionally perhaps an idea is put forward on the board that may have some value. It's not the only source of information and feedback, but certainly a convenient, consistent, reliable and primary source for a majority of issues in athletics.2 points

Had a coach/teacher in high school that told the class that SMU stood for Smelly Men’s Underwear. Let’s go with that.2 points

See 13:00 minute mark. Was a little awkward with the wait for her to come on stage and his tie getting a little tangled up in the exchange. Actually, it led to a touching moment, IMO, when Rick gave flowers to his own wife. I'm glad Rick was promoted from AD to Mean Green fan. Good guy and a participant in making this week's official tailgate the success that it was.2 points
