I know I'm going to make people here pretty angry, but UTSA-SDSU absolutely SHOULD outdraw our bowl game. They are 12-1, CUSA champs, facing an 11-2 SDSU team, and their game is in the evening. Yeah, they have to travel to Frisco, but that's it. They game has no reason not to sell out. Everything about that game is a bigger draw. Also, we know UTSA fans don't have to worry about their jobs, so it makes little difference when the game is as long as they can siphon enough gas from their neighbors to make the trip.

The forecast for the Frisco Bowl could be as low as 50 degrees at kickoff with a 31 percent chance of rain. There's no way UTSA can play in those conditions.

So I talked to a sales supervisor today at Toyota Stadium ticket sales regarding the availability of good seats to the Frisco Classic Bowl featuring UNT. He said, and I quote, " there won't be any problems getting good tickets because we don't expect much of a turnout. " i told him that I thought he was wrong. Now I am asking you to prove me right. If we can't sell out a 18,000 seat stadium we don't deserve to be there.

Greeting UNT fans. Miami fan here. Our athletic department sent out a link to the Axs website for Redhawk fans to purchase tickets. Our (Miami) options for seating were limited to Sections 103-105 and 107-109 via the Axs site. I tried multiple times to purchase tickets yesterday and it was a complete pain in the a$$. I would select my seats and then select "purchase" and kept receiving a message that time had expired for purchase. My tickets were in the cart for less than a minute and they timed me out? WTF? Finally, late last night I tried Axs again, only this time using my phone and the purchase went through. Anyhow, it seems like things are being put together for this game fast and kind-of-half-ass.

We are burying the lead that UTSA fans can’t do math. (Our game is only two days later.). UTSA has issues alright.

I’m not excited about his completion percentage against FCS competition. I’d like to see them closer to Zappe’s if we are bringing in a FCS transfer. This guy doesn’t seem to be measurably better than Aune and most of our fanbase can’t stand him. We should strive for better if a scholarship is involved. If he is walking on, good, we need scout team quarterbacks.

So UT (or a cover for them) is going to pay lineman 50K a year. Tell me again how this is not professional football?

Aside from running the ball on 2nd and 10, Miami has no offensive philosophy, lol. Running backs are very young and by committee. You'll see at least 4 featured backs. Our QB is Brett Gabbert. If the last name sounds familiar he is Blaine Gabbert's younger brother. Gabbert was hurt quite a bit early in the season, but had he been healthy he probably would have been 1st team All-MAC (He was named third team). WR Jack Sorenson is the big receiving threat. He was 1st team All-MAC and his numbers this season were pretty spectacular. The O-line is fairly young, but not inexperienced. Probably better pass protectors than they are run blockers. The defense is the strength of the team, though prone to give a big play now and then. LBs Ivan Pace (MAC defensive POY) and Matthew Salopek (3rd All-MAC) are tough as nails in all aspects of the game. We have four DEs who we rotate in and out a lot, and they are all equally good pass rushers and run stoppers. DEs Kam Butler, Lonnie Phelps, and Dom Robinson are All-MAC selections (Robinson was selected to play in the senior bowl). The secondary is lead by safety Sterling Weatherford (2nd team All-MAC). Our CBs give opposing receivers too much of a cushion in my opinion. What can I say about our head coach Chuck Martin? He has a lot of us pulling our hair out most of the time. Kind of a hard nosed guy who the players apparently love, but his game and clock management has most of us needing Rogaine (from pulling our hair out). The stance is you see what the guy who wins against his peer competition does when we step up who our peers are. The bet is that he’s able to continue to win. In order to do that he’d presumably have to pull in better talent. That would get us a step closer to the talent level of the teams we’re playing in the tournament and increases our odds of winning. In summary, you stick with Hedlund.

Talent rich area for all sports! Also women’s soccer has won more CUSA titles (8) than all the unt sports combined!

If you take the bowls for what they are, it’s a much more enjoyable experience. It’s fun for the players, it’s fun for the fans. The issue is when you have a fringe bowl team with fans that don’t travel and put them in a bowl completely across the country. Bowls should be localized much more than they are.

Yeah let’s fire the guy that has a 70% win rate and 16 conference championships. Ask the Longhorns how difficult it is to find the guy to “take the next step”

Will never blame JJ for leaving to coach his alma mater (plus the better salary). I wish it would have worked out for him at LSU. A true North Texas legend and one of the nicest and most genuine North Texas coaches I've ever met. I'm just glad we hired Grant McCasland so there was a seamless transition from JJ and his legacy was not torn to the ground. There's a few fuzzy years in there though...I wonder what happened.

Ever think that the next step might be a mediocre or worst program? If NT got rid of their head coaches that didn't win in the NCAA playoffs, I guess we would have McCasland and nobody else. Hedlund, Mitchell, Delong; I hope NT keeps them happy and at NT.
