I was looking at the records of teams in CUSA and noticed a very odd stat. UNT, Old Dominion, and Western Kentucky opened the season with a combined record of 3-16, then they went for a combined 17-0 over their last 17 games. UNT and Old Dominion each opened at 1-6 and then won their last 5 games, while WK open at 1-4 and then won their last 7. What are the odds?14 points

@PlummMeanGreenI really admire your passion and optimism -- almost as much as I admire your courage to admit that you went to an Olivia Newton-John concert. 👍🙂13 points

We need to be rooting for the fellow AAC team that we just annihilated.11 points

This team found some toughness and grit that had been lacking. The trenches looked different late this season compared to the past and early this season. You could see it building even though penalties were the by-product at the beginning. PB was chewing butt after every series and now you see him more managing his personnel. This also shows with our running style. Pounding the rock takes toughness. They found an identity.11 points

Man, we have to have someone in our department now that’s responsible for finding these guys NIL deals, right? And that persons number 1 priority better be finding those boys a deal with someone because if not, we are gonna lose them. Two more years, and they could do some really special things here. I really hope we find a way to keep them here AT LEAST 2 more years.9 points

Are we doing any form of ticket donation setup this year? I can’t really make a bowl from Ohio, but would gladly donate what I normally would spend to young alumni or students.9 points
-
I think you have to keep him 1000% at this point. Looking at his whole body of work he is a bad OL and DC hire away from being the next OU coach. I hear the bowl game argument. We had some horrible matchups. And I really think something clicked this season. Seth and co found identity. I know it year 6 but we are dealing with a first time head coach here. He made some bad hires but is learning. I think this team is super young. If we can get some key guys to return. Feel some gaps with transfer you are looking at a potential 10 win team next year and then we can worry about coach getting bigger job.9 points

You guys dwell on this win over nutsak way too long. I expected a win. Time to move on to better opponents. nutsak? f'em.9 points

Look at that Lifer, you and I can agree. I've always tried to teach my kids the aspects of a real apology - Admit the wrong, Apologize, ask how to make it better. Without those three things, it isn't an apology. The "this is not who I am" apologies are tiring, but I know that sometimes that is a real answer. It is hard to admit that you made a mistake when it is embarassing, but it is also hollow to admit that you are wrong when you don't actually feel you did anything wrong... and sometimes people use the "this is not who I am" apology to cover that base too. But it should be easy enough. "My dudes. I let my passion cloud my judgement. I do not believe all Mexicans-Americans are immigrants. I don't find Immigrants to be offensive. I value Mexican culture and people. I recognize that benefits that Latinos and immigrants bring to this colorful nation. I am making a $50k donation to the RAICES fund in UTSA's name. God Bless."7 points

Insinuating a school/city is weak because they have a lot of immigrants (Hispanics) is pretty damn racist.6 points

"a week after saying he'd never leave South Bend." A man's word is his bond. If you don't mean it, don't say it. Otherwise, your just a liar.6 points

Yes we do: https://meangreensports.com/staff-directory/jessie-gardner/412 Also, As great as the Murphys are... the key to the DL's future is actually this guy, who is flying incredibly low under the radar, just because he happens to be playing behind a NFL-caliber DT who is the heart of this defense. Once Novil graduates, Brown will be the man. We simply CANNOT lose him.6 points

Greenjoe is right, we're playing this up for television. For one day ditch the gray, white, or black North Texas gear. Go buy yourself an early Christmas gift if needed.6 points

Deserves more credit. Has shut me, a former hater, up. I really was not a fan of his hire given his resume but our DL is one of the best in the conference this year and have only become more disciplined and more aggressive.6 points

This is really Mc football. Also as Michigan proved you can still win games without the Leach concept. Kudos to Seth for getting PB and taking an offense and adapting it to the talent on the field. The line play is dominating and never thought I would say that about UNT ball! GMG6 points

Yeah but that’s what Dickey did and the teams would just put 10 guys in the box. We need to have a play action passing game to compliment it.6 points

You need to choose one or the other Mr. Lovelace. Imbibing on gamedays, or Twitter. You cannot do both, as each, by themselves, are risks. Combining them is a recipe for disaster for everything your parents worked so hard to create. Thank you for all you're doing for UNT, but this is a black eye... not only for you & your parents' company, but for UNT as a whole. Please don't do it again.5 points

As well it should. He's had to delete some real hot/racist/political-bat-shit tweets over the years. But hey, 2AM drunk tweets? Maybe it is just water under the racist bridge. Twitter is a dangerous place to be venting when drunk...5 points

I have looked, and I might have missed one, but I think Saturday was the 5th time we have defeated a 10 win team. The others were: 1999 vs. Boise St (10-3), 2013 vs Ball St. (10-3), 2013 vs Rice (10-4), 2017 vs Army (10-3) What a great time to be Green.5 points

I agree. I think he made some really good hires at first. Then his assistants got raided. I don't think it hurt us as much from GH leaving as an OC as it did as a QB coach. Seth can do that too, but the HC should be everywhere in practice. You also have to consider the program that Seth took over. In the previous 21 years, we had 16 losing seasons including a stretch were we won 13 games over 6 years. That is hard to overcome when you are recruiting. Early on he got some good transfers and JUCO's to go with Fine. But if you look at our classes lately, he has done very well. There is also the thing with K-State. It is rare for a coach to openly talk to another school and recover with the one he is at. I think he may have finally gotten over it here. It sure would be nice to have a coach not get $$ in their eyes and decide to stay and win a while.5 points

Btw when I watched Fine play a couple of weeks ago I noted that Jordan Murray was playing OT for the opponent.5 points

Ree Drummond is as big of a fan of her kids as many culinary TV show viewers are fans of hers. She is constantly posting about and raving over her children, including her foster son, Jamar. She's only recently been able to finally tell the world about his being a part of her family, and she evidently is happy to share all that she can, including telling her followers that he has accepted a position to play football at the University of Central Oklahoma, per The Pioneer Woman website. In August, Drummond posted a photo of another one of her sons, Bryce, as she proudly dropped him off at college and stocked his dorm with kitchen supplies. The proud mom even shared a before-and-after photo of Bryce after he settled into his new life at the University of North Texas (via Instagram). It's clear that Drummond truly loves her kids, so her latest social media post, while not surprising, is truly keeping fans' hearts warm. Seth has to start winning like Patterson did at TCU before we discuss this any further. Personally, I am a huge Seth Littrell fan. I believe he is a good man that runs a good program and his players like playing for him, but it is time to produce. My patience was gone at the beginning of the year and I wanted him gone. Then we started winning late in the year, albeit against teams we should beat, but what got my attention was the player's attitudes and improved discipline. They could have quit on Littrell and staff and the entire season, but they didn't, and that showed me something. Now, the leash is still short. Based off of next year's record and the talent returning to this team, anything less than an 8 or 9 win regular season is unacceptable. Six wins should never be the target. It should be the exception.4 points

Very weird fascination people have with GH on being our next head coach. With our money and resources, do we really want to deal with the up and downs of a first time head coach trying to learn on the job?4 points

I wholeheartedly agree Plumm. I gotta think this is a huge challenge for Wren Baker. I would be willing to wager quite a bit that he is negotiating with ESPN and Armed Forces behind the scenes and promising them that NT will bring at least 30K to their bowl game. In that same vein, he's likely trying to secure Frisco as the fallback by promising a sellout (which NT can most-definitely deliver, even without a single ticket sold by our opposition.) If it's announced that NT is going to the Armed Forces Bowl, look for a very aggressive ticket campaign from Wren & Co., because our fans' reputation, and his word, will be on the line.4 points
-
If we've learned anything about C-USA leadership, it's that they don't do a dang thing when it comes to which teams go to which bowls. If ESPN and the Armed Forces Bowl wants UNT to show up en-masse to Amon Carter so they raise a ton of money and make their bowl crowd look good, that's what's going to happen. Judy may not like it, but that's how it's gonna be, because she's unable to negotiate against it.4 points

If we keep all three we might have one of the most dominant defensive lines in college football!4 points

I get the sentiment, but we are in all out battle now for the top G5 conference. The AAC is no longer the clear front runner. We need to win these football games.4 points
-
Despite you and some others thinking I am Seth’s family, friend, or professional hype man, I agree with you here. We are getting way ahead of ourselves. We have had a fantastic end of the season and I want him back next year. But I need to see some consistency. I want what happened at the end of this season to continue next season before we talk about long-term.4 points
-
You'll sit with your fellow Mean Green fans if you buy through the NT office. It also makes NT look good to bowl committees when the tickets are sold through their ticket office. Otherwise, it just looks like you're a random football fan when it comes to counting attendance. That said, if you don't have many Scholarship Fund Priority points (re: if you haven't given a ton of money, or been around a very long time), you may wind up in an unfavorable seat as opposed to paying through the Bowl website.4 points
-
Doesn’t ESPN still do the invitations for the 3 DFW area bowl games? Would love the Armed Services Bowl in 47,000 seat ACS & not the 95,000 seat Cotton Bowl Stadium. Frisco Bowl capacity is too small for the UNT constituency who will tend to buy bowl game tickets.4 points

Who cares about the flirting with KState? If he is great here, KState can hire him away. If he is great at KState, OU will hire him away from them. If he is great at OU, USC will take him from them. And on and on… It used to be that a college coach would use a 3-4 year plan to build his program, but the coaching carousel and the transfer portal have turned building a college team into a year-to-year proposition. Can Seth adapt to this? Will Seth adapt to this?4 points
