  1. The Frisco Bowl probably has a financial incentive to sell tickets this year since the game was cancelled last year due to Covid at SMU after the participating teams were announced. Air travel is still tedious. I would think North Texas would be the natural selection to sell out their facility. We, as fans, need to start doing everything possible to let the Frisco Bowl people know that we want to play in their game. https://thefriscobowl.com/ Fans can purchase tickets at www.thefriscobowl.com/tickets Frisco, TX – In its fifth year at Toyota Stadium, the Tropical Smoothie Cafe Frisco Bowl will showcase two teams from the following conferences: American Athletic Conference, Conference USA, Mid-American Conference, Mountain West Conference, or the Sun Belt Conference. This year’s game is scheduled for Tuesday, Dec. 21, at 6:30 p.m. CT. Ticket prices range from $25 in the Goal Line sections to $99 for the ESPN ZONE VIP Experience. ESPN ZONE VIP Experience ($99 per ticket) This includes a covered VIP seat for the bowl game in the Hall of Fame Club or South Terrace sections, exclusive access to the National Soccer Hall of Fame Club, the National Soccer Hall of Fame Experience, and a ticket to the ESPN Zone pre-game party with free food and beverage from 4:30–6:30 p.m. Midfield Tickets ($50 per ticket) Sideline Tickets ($40 per tickets) Goal Line Tickets ($25 per ticket) For group ticket orders above the maximum online limit of eight (8), or any questions, fans can call (469) 365-0027. 7. UTSA won't win another game this year with the way the last 3 weeks have gone, barely escaped USM and UAB and got their doors blown off by UNT. Think UTSA is toast

  8. Some of you have no idea how a coach is hired or fired. Do the big donors want to buy him out? Then he’s gone. Otherwise he is back next year. END OF STORY. I don’t see how they want to 1) write the big check to buy him out, and then 2) write an even bigger check to wade into this insane sellers market where at least 20 teams are fighting for limited talent. This year you’re going to pay BIG money to get someone who would normally be your second or even third tier candidate.

  10. I think Wren's position is that he evaluates every single one of his coaches after the end of their season. Has anyone known him to waver on this? I believe Wren is brilliant in his capacity as Athletic Director, and he certainly has more riding on this than any of us. I'll support Wren's conclusion 100% with whatever he decides.

  12. The way the team responded to the terrible start, and fought until the end, including capping it off yesterday, it tells me the team never gave up on him, and believes in him. If he is let go, look for a whole lot of players to hit the transfer portal. Many of them obviously like him.

  14. I think Seth has had plenty of time to post more than a .500 record with 0 bowl wins. If he can win the bowl game and keep the success up in 2022, I wouldn't throw a temper tantrum over riding out his contract. I just hope Wren doesn't get trigger-happy with an extension if he does win a couple of bowl games. That should have been the expectation six years and the highest conference salary in. That being said, it's hard for non-professionals to not hang their head after starting 1-6. Everyone deserves credit for becoming bowl eligible. Three of those wins were on the road, too. I remember Mac couldn't win a game on the road after the 2013 season. Just wish there were more people at Apogee yesterday to root on the team.

  16. Unlike what message boards tend to think, good AD's communicate regularly with their coaches. I honestly think Seth already knows his fate, and I bet Seth will be the HFC at UNT next year. I don't actually think there's as much uncertainty on Bonnie Brae as there is on GMG.

  20. He’s done just enough to tip the risk/reward scales of keeping him in his favor for one more year. He did something yesterday he has NEVER done. He beat a good team in a game with something on the line. Was it a fluke? Is it a sign of things to come? Looks like he’s gonna get another year to prove it either way. And his schedule next year is MUCH easier than this year. The stars should be aligned for Littrell next season. I hope he’s for real.

  21. Can confirm this is on track right now. That 2013 win we had came back around hard. AAC will see a good rivalry coming into conference. Congrats on the W.

  22. 13. North Texas 45, UTSA 23 Honestly, UTSA was lucky to get to 11-0. The Roadrunners won two games with a postgame win expectancy of 10% or lower (the wins over Memphis in September and UAB last week), and regression to the mean struck them hard in rainy Denton. They lost three fumbles, and smoking-hot North Texas -- once 1-6, now 6-6 -- went on a 28-0 midgame run. We landed at 13. Here is the article for those of you interested in those sorts of things: https://www.espn.com/college-football/insider/story/_/id/32738856/twenty-games-made-college-football-rivalry-week-well-bedlam

  23. Aune is likely the starter headed into next year. I have all the respect and admiration for him as a person. He is an easy dude to root for and the team loves him. But we are not going to eclipse any success here with him at the helm. We need to hammer the transfer portal hard this offseason.

  24. That's a real big strawman. I don't think 95% of the folks here want Seth back next year. But, The REALITY is he will be here barring any surprise changes. At this point we are accepting the reality, and discussing the best steps forward. Is it a new QB? new WRs? Prettier cheerleaders? Less clowns on the GMG.com? Seth will be here. We want him to blow the doors off and prove us all wrong. THAT is reality right now. You see failure, only expect failure. and yes, maybe it will be failure At this point, the "burn the whole thing down" bandwagon is just noise. We are 99% stuck with Seth, and yelling louder ain't changing it. I'd rather just ride the high than keep yelling at the clouds.

  25. Needs an area code on the back and we're in business. TANGENT: My son outgrew his Cobbs jersey so we went in to get him a new game shirt on Friday and he picked out a black shirt with a green Texas and shooting star on it. I was trying to steer him to green, but the heart wants what the heart wants. He is now convinced this shirt is the key to all good things and I had to fight him to properly clean it post-game. He held it during the Drake game the next morning, too (fresh off his first basketball game against UTSA before the holiday.) Put us in the Frisco Bowl and I'll personally guarantee we end the bowl losing streak with him and the shirt.

  29. Both Aune and Ruder this year were at McNuggets level of production. Our Defense and RB's are the only reason we're remotely sniffing a bowl game. If we want any type of success next year and into the future we need a MINIMUM of senior year DT.

  34. Agree however Based on historic results, he should’ve lost last Saturday by 3 TDs. He didn’t. I can’t wait to see what happens in the bowl game. Everyone does what they’ve always done until they don’t. The question is what comes next….

  36. The Athletic is saying that we should know pretty quickly what Seth Littrell’s future looks like.

  37. I’m pretty sure the guy we wanted is now coaching at a p5 school. So we’re now onto second choices. Then be better talk the big donors into writing those checks, or write them himself. Otherwise it doesn’t matter. We switched the the offense from a spread to pass focus to a spread to run focus. We had ~40 pass attempts against latech, we had 17 against utsa, 14 against fiu.

  38. Back when we were boiling the tar and raiding the chicken coops at 1 and 6... I said he had to win out...including a bowl. But that was before UTSA was ranked I believe. Regardless....Seth made a statement for his cause yesterday.

  39. In my opinion, a major factor in the decision about retaining Seth may be determined by who Wren had determined is availabe (and interested in committing) as a replacement and whether or not he is considered a significant upgrade for our entry into the AAC. The lack of success in the CUSA for 6 years can't be ignored when moving to a tougher conference.

  40. And that was a smart, ballsy move on his part. He recognized it was time to try something different. We can all debate if he should’ve ever been in that position in the first place, but I have to give him credit on making that adjustment. Or maybe he didn’t feel his O Line was ready yet and it took time to gel. Who knows. But it worked.

  44. I'd love to play Memphis and think that could be a very competitive matchup. I'll take any bowl game at this point, but MAC teams don't get anyone anywhere excited. UTSA would be getting a very winnable top 25 matchup in BYU.

  45. UTSA has the highest paid coach in the conference (2.8 ave for 10yrs) and they just got stomped by a 6-6 team that has won their last 5 games.
    4 points
  46. Reddit CFB Twitter suggesting it will be Miami-Ohio left out. Them and WVU apparently both have non-qualifying sixth wins which put them at the back of the line but ahead of 6-7 Hawaii. So one of those two would be left out, and obviously would not be WVU. If that is true we should be good.

  47. I think you ride this momentum into the bowl game and 2022. The continuity could be great in a year of massive coach upheaval. We’ve already beat Traylor and Lashlee will give us an opening to beat SMU. Something clicked in Seth and in the end he did it his way and got it done. He won’t want to stop now. He wants to rebuild his image and set himself up for the next round of coaching coaster changes. His ticket is to continue building us up. We win too. An engaged Seth is a fun Seth for us. just my thoughts. GMG

  48. Lets see, we have had 10 coaches since Hayden Fry and each one of them was fired with a losing record. Every replacement was brought in with great acclaim as they were just the right coach to turn this thing around. Except they didn't. Coach #11, SL, is the only coach since Fry with a winning record, such as it is. The #olderthandirtDenton in me says stick with who we have as it can easily be worse.

  49. IF WB is going to let SL go, then he damn sure better have his replacement in place, signed, and delivered so it does not become a poop show (see LSU).
