Someday our society will come to the conclusion that making coaches speak to the media is a waste of time for everyone involved.

Most of the time, that is true. But there are very noteworthy exceptions.

SL has been past the clock at least since he got blown out on tv by Charlotte, led by a coach probably younger than some people still playing college football. No matter what happens with San Antonio at this snapshot in time, needs to be replaced. I'm tired of telling people I support North Texas when they know how we continually justify abysmal football performance, and grasp at anything to do so. 'Oh it could be worse, we could be 1-11.' How about we expect our leadership to get someone who surely WON'T go 1-11?

I get what you’re saying, but I think if we were 10-0 and lost to them in the last game of the regular season, our season would be ruined.

TCU is more “Fort Worth’s team” than SMU will ever be “Dallas’ team”.

Has anyone considered that much of our young, talented roster may hit the transfer portal if SL is relieved of his duties? The young talent is growing and developing every week. For this reason, I think he gets another year to prove it or lose it. I do think the UTSA outcome will tell the tale, one way or another. If it plays out like UAB and Marshall, the decision will be apparent.

Look for TCU to have these uniforms in no time.

Or that young talent is excited about the hot coach UNT is bringing in and NOT hit the portal? Who knows how that will play out, but you can't let fear drive you.

Our P5 transfer qb didn’t work out like we thought, our star running back went down before the season, our big play 6’5” Georgia transfer receiver went down in week 2, and before week three we lost our other deep threat Shorter. Throw in the week 5 loss of Simpson and you could understand a dropoff from last season, ESPECIALLY considering we lost a 19 touchdown wide receiver to the 4th round of the NFL draft.

I don’t know why you guys just don’t go after Nick Saban. This is SMU we are talking about! Take your pick of any coach! And forget the Big 12, SMU is going to rightfully be in the super conference with the other top 30 schools when the current system implodes. SMU, a bastion of innovation, was also 35 years ahead of the game on NIL. All I know is there is zero need for the SMU fan base to temper expectations because there’s literally zero risk of disappointment. You’re SMU! You were in the Southwest Conference for goodness sake.

Playing the #3 team in the land (and for all intents and purposes they will be #2 when we play them since UCLA and Gonzaga go at it tonight). Obviously this will be a monumental task by Coach Mac and the guys, but upsets like this often happen in these holiday tourneys. A huge chance to make a statement.

When I worked for a sports radio station in Arkansas in 2011, one of our guests was Mike Leach. I was the producer so it was my job to call him to get him on the air. When I called him we had about five minutes before the show was ready to get back on the air and we ended up having an epic conversation about rain in Texas. TCU is FT Worth’s team and has been for 20+ years. The city and the school joined forces to promote TCU football and the community largely embraced it. Denton has never done so and UNT hasn’t forced them to try.

The portal is working exactly like the big schools intended. Schools like NT are merely farm teams. In the old days, they would hide a kid in JUCO until they were ready for him. Now he plays in a P5 league until they are ready. It will not change because, according to them, it is working perfectly.

I love it when fans of other schools show up on here and then get pissed when we get tired of hearing about their school. Last I checked, these schools have fan boards of their own. I just don't get it. I rarely, if ever, go to ponyfans.com, or cougarhigh.com, or nutsacksmack.com.

People can downvote me all they want but his offense has consistently ranked in the top percentile in FBS. He is the reason Mason Fine developed into what he did. He had repertoire here.

I think the toothpaste is already out of the tube and it is what it is at this point. What I would like to see if for them to call it what it really is, NFL minor league football free agency. I want them to accept that is where we are now with NIL and the portal and for them to compensate accordingly. If you pickup a G5’s star quarterback, then you give up one of your 25 yearly signings to the G5 team so they can sign one extra plus $50k in cash or you give up a bench player acceptable to the G5 who is willing to attend that G5 plus $10k.

Most the coaches being let go have one common complaint against them and that is the qb play. If you can't evaluate and develop the qb position then you better have a guru that can.( and eventually he will be a head coach) You would think transfers would increase your odds for success with their existing body of work to review. I can't accept the situation with Amani and Jace. This makes me believe we are not capable of evaluating talent at this position. I could see Seth being let go or staying for next season with the idea it being our last in C-USA. If he stays I hope they announce the start of the AD building so IF he is let go now or next season we can attract the best candidate.

Or its because SMU's fanbase is non-existent and even with a great marketing campaign they haven't been able to convince Dallas to give a damn. The attendance for the Oct. 21st game vs Tulane was embarrassing for a school that thinks they should be in the Big 12...6-0 and top 25 ranking and the fanbase could only muster a 22K announced attendance. IMO, this is a reason Dykes is leaving. He knows he'll have Ft. Worth's support as long as he's winning.

I’m so torn on the re-embracing of North Texas State (Littrell wearing an NTSU sweatshirt). On the one hand, I feel like it is backtracking on 3 decades of trying to distance from the name. On the other hand I feel like it is reclaiming the name many use as a pejorative these days. At the end of the day I guess I don’t really care as long as we are winning football games.

No not new, just concerned when i see a statement like yours, not fact based, and leaves the reader with false impressions of a person. However we all have freedom of speech!! Lets Beat UTSA Saturday.
