  1. The question isn’t now, and has never been, whether SL could get his team prepared enough to beat BAD teams (FIU has given up 45+ points a total of six times this season). The question is whether he can coach the team up to stay competitive with good teams in our league (nope, see UAB and Marshall games) or whether he can adjust and close out games where we lead (nope, see Liberty game). We have seen how high Littrell can take us. I think he is a great guy and even an excellent ambassador for our program…but the name of the game is winning, even if circumstances aren’t 100% perfect. As my officers tell me at least once a week, “that’s why they pay you the big bucks.”

  2. Look at y’all. Can’t even enjoy a 4 game win streak for 24 hours before you have to tear it apart. It’s gotta be exhausting.

  3. This is all true. What is also true is that if we beat a top 20, undefeated nutsack next week Wren cannot fire SL. It’s simply an untenable position to take.

  4. He's right. There are/were a ton of injuries. Things could have gotten really bad. And I was full of gloom, too, because it didn't look like we would win another game. Things have turned around and there is credit to be handed out for that. I really want this coaching staff to have success here, because - They are here right now - I can't think of 2 better guys for these positions: - Phil Bennett is a defensive guru. He is in the perfect spot as a DC. - I love that Patrick Cobbs is our freaking RB coach. Those guys wouldn't be there without a HC that made that happen.

  5. Enjoying the improved play across the board. Like that young players are contributing in big ways. Lack of penalties these past several weeks has been very encouraging and showed a more poised, “locked in” approach. Proud of the team for getting us in a position where this upcoming game actually matters. Let’s ruin UTSA’s season and punch our ticket to a bowl!

  7. “Biggest win” and “Biggest margin of victory” are two entirely different things. You had me worried there for a minute.

  8. But Littrell convinced Bennett to come out of retirement to fix the defense. Do you not give him any credit for that? We like to rip Littrell for his failed assistant hires so we need to credit him for the ones that work.

  9. This is the tweet I referenced. I was a little off

  10. With a 42 pt win tonight, this is the biggest margin of victory since a 2019 45-3 win against... UTSA.

  11. He might also make the record for the first division 1 player to receive a routine colonoscopy if this continues... That's a crazy fact though. UNT loves to fill in those weird facts

  12. That’s actually not true. We have a west division title from 2017.

  13. #OLDDENTON Fans should be happy we have a chance to win 6 games. Should not expect more from a $2M coach in year 6. With all due respect this is the same as a big dollar donor putting the person before the school. Admirable ex-players are stepping up but it just shows that they put the relationship with Seth above what's best for North Texas

  14. A very bad team is making our bad team look good. I fear too many folks are going to be fooled into high hopes for next week.

  15. Aune plays bad: "Typical Aune. Where’s Kason Martin?" Plays well: "Not a bad pass but a little more on the outside and that’s 6." Teams losing: "Where can we find a quarterback?" Teams winning: "Just goes to show this team doesn’t need Aune to win." miserable haters 🤣🤣🤣🤣

  16. Just my opinion, but I think Adler didn't like Dodge...

  17. Y’Barbo never played for Seth. The difference between McCarney, Benford, and Seth is the players haven’t quit on Seth like they did those other two.

  19. He had some nice passes. He was hitting his receivers in stride on the deep ball. His worst deep ball pass was the 55 yarder to Burns, but Burns didn’t have a defender within 10 yards, so it didn’t matter. The pass to Lyles with a defender in his face was spot on. Aúne seemed more confident last night.

  20. That is the one part where I have real hope that the improvement is real and will also show up against better teams. Primarily because it is part of a trend, and does not appear like a one game blip. If this team had been this disciplined earlier in the season, the LaTech and Liberty games could have been wins.

  25. No one has mentioned it yet so I will offer this opinion. This turnaround is probably more about Phil Bennett than SL. SL presides over collapses, not gritty clawing and scratching turnarounds.....or (because of the competition, pseudo-turnarounds). It's a bit over the top (Gary Patterson over the top), but I'd prefer something like this from a coach And NO, I am not advocating that SL be shown the door so that the HC job can be given to Phil Bennett.

  26. FACT.... UNT has beaten nothing but bums this season. UTEP is the only team we have beaten that will finish with a winning record, and that is because they beat a bunch of bums too (UTEP has yet to beat a team with a winning record this season). Littrell has to go at the end of this season. If he doesn't, this place will be like 2016 all over again. No one wants to see our fan base fractured next season or banners flying. Wren needs to get rid of Seth and hire the right coach to lead us into the American. It's silly to even suggest that wins over Northwestern State (FCS), Rice (3-8), Southern Miss (2-9), UTEP (7-4), & FIU (1-10), merits Littrell deserving a 7th year at UNT. To keep Littrell for a 7th year would be very Old Denton.

  27. I know you’re probably making fun but this team may have an actual angel looking down.

  28. Because these young players still believe in him and it shows. Because we will owe him that $2M regardless plus whatever Bennett would be owed.

  29. What's dumb about this argument is that being 'bowl eligible' is literally just winning half our games. Half of C-USA should be relegated to FCS, and if we were not consistently bowl eligible I'd be worried. I think I'd rather be focused on trying to win our conference & beat strong out of conference teams. Littrell is like 1-4 against La Tech, 0-5 post season, 1-5 against SMU, 1-4 against UAB... This isn't something I'd like to be proud of.

  30. Watching some of the nutsak win over UAB today, North Texas is going to have it's hands full next week.

  31. This is a very strong performance by the team. I just wish we could play like this against good competition.

  32. Hell of a game plan by Butch tonight. If only we’d given him that one extra year to really put this thing together.

  34. I can’t find the tweet, but another former player referenced how UTSA best us when we were on the verge of a conference championship. He said, “let’s return the favor” or something like that. I’ll keep looking…

  35. It’s fun that the last game of the year has purpose for both teams involved. UTSA wants to stay undefeated and we want bowl eligibility. I’m hoping for a great atmosphere next Saturday. GMG!

  36. That's what the 210 on their helmets means...Traylor is letting potential recruits know what SAT score is required to get admitted to UTSA.

  37. I think Seth comes back next year. I may not agree, but I think he will and here is why. If you read Brett's article Five thoughts on UNT's win over Florida International, he states in his second thought "It's time to acknowledge that UNT's defense has something going. We were told it would take some time for UNT to get used to Phil Bennett's system." I think the reporters were told that because they were setting the stage to give Seth those two years. I think Wren gives Seth those two years with Bennett as DC. I believe that's why the contract was two years only. Another reason is it lessens Seth's buyout. My last reason is because from what I have heard across this board, the real big money donors like Seth. I may not like it, but I think he gets one more year to turn this around. The only way I see him getting fired is if UTSA comes in here and absolutely destroys us. If we play them tough, I would bet money that Seth will be back for one more year.

  38. Dude, we were in Fouts and our athletic center was….oh, that’s right, we didn’t have one. We were using that building in the Fouts parking lot that Fry had built. Littrells competitors probably now have the same and the teams we should be beating, 10 year old programs and programs brought back from being disbanded, are kicking our ass. We beat who we should, and aren’t competitive in the big games.

  39. We will have our chance at Apogee Stadium, 1:00 pm this next Saturday!😆 it will probably be the largest attended home game finale in UNT history. I’m pumped! To me this is what college football is all about.
