We lost probably our best RB in Adaway for the season. Shorter and Bush aren't playing, and our WRs are a giant strugglebus. But I'll say this. There was ZERO quit tonight. The boys fought like hell. 17-0 from mid 2nd on. Of course there are problems, of course we have to stop coming out flat... but this is a team picked to finish next to last in the conference, a two score dog on the road, and we fought like hell to have a chance to win on the last possession. It won't be popular. I get minusing me. Hell, I might do it myself. But i still believe in this staff and these players. We're young as hell. And we are full of fight. #GMG

Ruder should not see the field again this season in a game situation unless Aune and Martin are both injured. Ruder has all the tools, but he is unrefined. He needs a lot of work with a patient and observant QB coach. Giving him game reps at this time disadvantages his development and consistently puts the team in a hole against FBS opponents. Aune's throwing mechanics still have some baseball in them, but that can be fixed. He's got heart and he's a gamer. He reminds me a lot of a guy who was QB when I was at A&M in the early 90s: Jeff Granger. Dude was a gamer who could hit a wide open receiver in stride maybe one out of every five times because he had baseball mechanics. We used to joke that he thought Greg Hill's hands were in his shoelaces thanks to all the times he'd hit him in the feet and ankles with passes. Defense regrouped after getting punched in the mouth early and kept us in the game tonight. Loved seeing Dion Novil shine. I have concerns with every coach on this staff except Bennett and Cobbs. We've got QB and WR talent, but that talent isn't being developed in practice and in side work so that it translates on the field. We need another Graham Harrell and another Joel Filani to work with these young men. I reserve the majority of my concern for the coaches for Coach Littrell. He's busted on an alarming number of assistant coaching hires in recent years, and we're seeing the result of that on the field.

Since you are there (congrats), please tell us when the team shows up.

How?! How on earth can you believe in this staff? That’s just crazy talk with no evidence to show they are worthy of our belief. Keep in mind SL is still the highest paid coach in conference. You know, the one we are in last place in.

I liked the uniforms we wore for the away game at Tech. That is all.

I’m trying to take off my cynic hat but it really seems like we are generally getting a bit too excited about looking even remotely capable of competing against a conference opponent. Having fight is good. But there is so much wrong right now in year 6.

Aune was a big spark tonight, but only because Ruder was so bad. Still, I give him credit for rallying the team. Many of the problems were not his fault. Which leads me to..... What the heck is wrong with our WR's ? Where is the talent. Maybe some of it is injuries. But, this may be the worst performing group of WR's that I have ever seen at NT. They don't get any separation. They can't come down with contested balls. And, they drop easy catches on occasion. What a job by the defense though. If we would have pulled this one out, it would have been the most unexpected win in program history, considering the fact that were down 24-0 and have had 8 horrible quarters going back to the 2nd quarter of the SMU game. In the end, they showed some fight and kept from being embarrassed again.

We're all pissed, but at least we're showing some damn fight. I'll give us that. We've had some absolutely trash drops kill us, but Aune is bringing energy, the defense isn't laying down.... this ain't Portland State. It ain't good, but it ain't that

Getting the doors blown off right out of the gate and making a comeback effort that falls short is NOT good football. Please don't try to make a heroic effort out of it.

I believe in our players. I do not believe in our staff. This is 4 games in on year 6. We should be WAY ahead of where we are.

I just wish we could go a week without being embarrassed. Forget winning. Just not embarrassed.

We're 1 score away from WB giving Littrell another 2 yr extension.

I canceled my trip earlier this week. It’s not that I don’t care for the team or the players, but with the performance of this coaching staff and the lack of preparedness I couldn’t justify a 4 hour trip

Now look at the comparison between us and UTSA after we beat them by 6 TDs in September of 2019…and that’s one comparison that is apples to apples…

6 years and some are happy with moral victories and coming up just short. Against back up QBs, no less. Unbelievable. There is no more believing in this staff. Any hope for them turning this around was crushed last weekend against UAB. Satisfaction with mediocrity will keep this program stunted and bottom of the conference.

Tells me that the team still stands behind Littrell and they have not given up. I don’t expect a winner just give me a little effort and don’t give up until the end of the game. I hope to see this trend continue into next game and the remainder of the season. If Littrell can show improvement as the season progresses I can see us getting behind him for another season.

jeeze man. I would almost rather hear they have given up than what you just wrote. This tells me that they aren't that good and SL is a terrible evaluator of talent. Either way, this doesn't bode well at all for us. Yay for last place in the last conference. Let's hang our hat on moral victories.

I flew to El Paso once, got a hotel, spent the weekend there and watched NT get blown out. It was an annoying waste of time and money. I won’t do it again when I know they will get destroyed.

I love to re hash the good Ole days, but it is sad we are back to that....

If we beat UTSA and they are 11-0, this loss won’t even matter lol

Neither did our starting RB and two starting WR’s. We were also missing a backup RB and a couple other WR’s.

The is a different team with Aune in. He may miss throws badly at times but he has grit and the other players seem to give more effort when he is behind center. When Ruder is in, everyone just looks defeated, like they really don’t give a shit if we win or lose.

It's not just the QB. It is the QB and WR's together that have been awful. Aune's legs kept this game close, not his passing. Also, where is the track speed from Ruder ? Aune looks much faster and more mobile than Ruder.

I agree with 95% of this post. I am not sold on this staff outside of Bennett and Cobbs. I see those two coaching all the time.

Martin can not do any worse than what has been put out the past 3 weeks, just give him a chance

I appreciate the fight the team is showing. Still think Littrell needs to go after the season, but the effort is appreciated after last week's game against UAB.

Our defense has kept us in the game. How many times has this offense had to make this a game? It really is very surprising this game is actually not a "blow out".

Unless he slithered his way out of your very own veejay, no one should be this into Aune. He's looking better. But better is still bad for us. Far from the savior some hope for. Just more of the same.

My HSO’s: 1. In an attempt to hold onto Bloesch, Littrell gave him the OC title as well as his duties as OL Coach. The result, the OL has suffered and our play calling is not good. Bloesch needs to focus on the OL. 2. Our WR’s have not been developed since Filani left. Darden was self motivated and an incredible talent. 3. We need a true QB Coach. Ruder looks the part physically, but he panics and his mechanics are poor. He came from a small school in Kansas and probably got by on athletic ability. He needs to be developed by a competent QB Coach. Not sure about Joseph, but the early returns are not promising. Ruder should have gotten to campus earlier as well. I feel like we have rushed him Into thr starting position. 4. There is a lack of creativity in our play calling. Too predictable in our run game and we try to go for the home run ball too much. Is this Bloesch, see above, or SL's offense? It is time to open up the playbook and "Let It Fly".

How dare you.... You don't know how much the fans on this board support our program. Many of us have been season ticket holders for more than a decade and have endured many highs and lows while following the Mean Green. You just worry about you, and the rest of us will think for ourselves.

I wonder if his offensive coordinator had anything to do with it. You know the one with the last name we aren’t suppose to speak? I don’t see many Razorback picket signs in the stands. It all started because Lane Kiffin gave him a shot at FAU despite the risk and last name. Looks like it has paid off for several teams now. We could take a similar risk but we won’t.

Meanwhile SMU qb has 1k yards and 16tds 2 into.
