I’ve sent a lot texts and even emails (older people still like email). This is what I’ve learned. Mostly cryptic stuff you can read multiple ways. 1. The AAC’s $7 million per team doesn’t hit until the back end of the contract and is basically off the table with departures. It’s currently $5 million per team and estimate is it will be $2.5 million to $3 million post-departure. 2. People in the know are saying there is not enough money out there for presidents to bury the idea of regionalization. 3. Fans have grudges. Fans look down on some programs because of the past. Few administrators have been around long enough to remember or know those things. They are looking at each other through the lens of the past 3-5 years.9 points

Just saw on ESPN.com that the line is UAB -12. If you were ever going to show that you can step up and coach Seth, NOW is the time.8 points

Their average revenue/athletics budgets are still smaller. They're still a largely rural based conference and lower tier academic schools. A couple years with a handful of top 25 appearances doesn't change that.8 points

Parking: Apogee Tailgate: Apogee Acoustics: Apogee Sightlines: Apogee Airflow: Apogee Concessions: Apogee Seriously, if your company does drug testing, you may want to call in for a few days.8 points

Apogee by a mile. Similar stadiums, but SMU is more a bowl and much hotter. Parking at Ford is awful, not SMU's fault, just location Concessions are superior at Apogee in terms of product and accessibility Apparently only problem with Apogee, is that mustang fans can't manage to find it Mustang fans do manage to find Ford which is not easy when you look for Dallas's team and assume it must be in Dallas8 points

I think our coaches would too, which is why they have now started two different quarterbacks over him to start a season7 points

Could a consistent deep run in the tourney for men and women bball be a smoother path to a better conference for unt, because the football team constantly drops the ball when its time to show up. Could we spend more money and focus raising the bball program to semi elite status snd slip into a better situation. Im just asking. Dont really know how the ncaa politics work. Someone enlightened me please..6 points

Fine to Bussey with 17 seconds left vs UTSA in 2017 was pretty damn good. Casey Fitzgerald's 99-yd TD against ULM (96 yac).5 points

Is there an injury report on Tommy Bush and D. Torrey? Any other nics and bumps to report on?5 points

That depends on if you like open air or indoor arenas. Apogee is a great venue to watch a game. It’s award winning for its construction, amenities, energy efficiency, and use of wind turbines that were not to blame during the freeze. Ford Center is an amazing concept and the center piece of a world class training facility and destination entertainment complex. Although it is smaller it serves the Cowboys and local kids well as a great place to play or practice. That said, there aren’t any football stadiums in Dallas worth debating, comparing, or mentioning.5 points

He should have been fired from Baylor either for knowing what was going on and doing nothing to stop it or not knowing what was going on in his department. Either way he was fired and in my opinion should not be considered for UNT. How his son Kendall walked away untarnished is beyond me.4 points

Not even close. Apogee is a gem and Ford is starting to have that cotton bowl corridor look. How can that team not be prepared for a full house practically at the gates and concessions? How can there not be roaming beer vendors? How can there not be pop up beverage and snack stations all around the stadium triple what was organized. They had one job and 2 years to plan for it. I don’t get it. Made me appreciate Denton, Apogee and being a Mean Green alum so much more. see y’all Saturday GMG4 points

I personally think this spread is too high. This team has potential but potential doesn't necessarily translate into success. Outside of about 3 or 4 plays, we were lock step with SMU going into the 4th quarter. Had we scored touchdowns instead of settling for field goals in the first half, it would have been a totally different ball game. But, we didn't make the big plays and/or convert when we had to and SMU did. Plain and simple. If, and that's a big if, we make the big plays when we they count the most, we can outright win this game, much less cover the spread. But we have to negate the big play touchdowns and score touchdowns on offense instead kicking for three.4 points

I don't understand why people keep saying the AAC won't consider us because we're too close to SMU, but would take a serious look at schools like LA Tech and Southern Miss. Wouldn't you rather have 2 schools sharing a massive market over a school that isn't even in a market?3 points

What has happened to the likes of Jordan Rucker, Keelan Crosby, Tyrae Thornton, Robert Francis and others that were expected to contribute in our secondary? It appears that Ikaika Ragsdale has struggled early this year. Do you all expect to see Keith Jackson added to the RB rotation?3 points

Are you guys really serious? Do you really think if SL were canned this season, we could just go offer the coaches of the best C-USA teams $300-500K more/yr, and they would gladly jump ship & come to a losing team? Again, this sounds like something you or I might do for our careers... but I've NEVER heard of a FBS football coach leaving a winning program in order to take on a losing team in the same conference just for money. Has anyone else heard of this? Can you cite if so?3 points

I second any perspective/thoughts on Isaiah Johnson. I watched a bit of the game last night and, boy!, he made some tough runs. A deeper question, regarding SL and his recruiting/roster management. We have 3 incredible recruiting classes under our belt now, including some extremely heralded athletes at WR. What are your thoughts on the current starters, who is sitting on the bench, and our future at that position? Caleb Johnson comes to mind. Is he taking a RS?3 points

Count me as one of those holding out hope for a 2013-like year. The more the defense plays together, the better they'll get. Ideally Ruder will settle in as well, we'll see.3 points

Your AD or President should offer consulting on how to hire coaches. They’ve done an unbelievable job.3 points

Has the MWC expressed any interest in expanding? As for UNT lets not forget about basketball, big part of any mid-major conference, and UNT happens to have a good program.3 points

Hiring coaches doesn’t seem that hard to me. AState has hired 5 since December of 2010 and four left for raises.3 points

My understanding is an article in the Athletic this morning says regionalization is likely out because the SBC sees itself as a better conference that can poach the scraps of whatever is left of CUSA after AAC expands. If North Texas misses the cut for AAC, this is the nightmare scenario. I'm not even sure where you go from there if all that's left standing is the bottom half of CUSA. FCS? Don't see any Sun Belt schools wanting to bolt for a lesser conference at that point. That scenario makes the most sense to me considering expanded playoffs and streaming taking over for TV markets. The emphasis will be on performance. North Texas's string of bad hires may come back to bite it big time if, after spending all we have on facilities (and coaching for that matter), we still end up in the worst conference in FBS, essentially back to where we started 10 years ago... We are already basically there and just hoping for a lifeline from the AAC.3 points

I get all the criticisms of Ford, which are all valid, except parking. You park at the Dart station and it's max 1/2 mile to Ford, and there a shuttle if you don't want to walk. Very similar to Apogee. Or you can park in the neighborhood south of mockingbird if you are early.3 points

I have to admit, I like the built in backrest to the bleachers at Ford, but that is it.3 points

Briles’ DC walked away untarnished too. Lucky for him he never heard anything about any of it when he was there.3 points

Ask yourself this question, would anyone outside of the die hard 5000 fans on here know about any play listed above other than the Greatest Punt Return in College Football History? Then ask fans from outside of UNT what play of ours they would remember...that punt return was national news and made SL and Biagi, the ST coach, prime interviews around the region for weeks. Most publicity we have ever gotten nationally...and even regionally. And its not even close...2 points

These are all great for one play. If it was a series, I would go with the stand against Rice2 points
