  1. This is the breakthrough year for Seth! I’m saying even with a tough schedule they go 10-2! And we beat SMU in Dallas!

  2. Reminds me of a time my wife and I were in the local Academy and I bought a box of golf balls. At checkout, the young man asked if I wanted my balls in a bag, and I replied, "No, my wife keeps them in her purse." He didn't get it and she slapped me when we got in the truck.

  3. With Adaway out for the season (Prayers are with you Oscar, and I can't wait for you to be back on the field), I'm having to adopt a new player. If no one has him from last season... I think I have identified a guy that will very likely be an impact player in Bennett's defense..... Larry Nixon III. I think he's ready for an all-conference type season.

  4. Mock? Who mocked? That is truly confusing. The list of coaches who have died is absolutely insane. Perhaps if all the deaths were listed, then it would get attention and sway some of the non-vaccinated to do it. There is no mockery. Truly sorry about your friend. Death is bad times. As you should be able to tell, I don't wish Covid on anyone for any reason.

  5. Defense under Bennett actually shows a pulse early and gets better in CUSA play. 7-5 with a break through bowl win.

  6. Then why did you do it? Later this week, I'm going to the funeral of a friend who died of Covid on Monday night. He left behind friends and a young family who will never see him again and will miss him for the rest of their lives. It's one thing to want people to get vaccinated. And I'm in that corner. But, man, it's another thing to mock the deaths of individuals you don't know -- people who have left behind family and friends who loved them -- to make tasteless, snarky posts. That's just cold.

  7. FYI: Just had to scramble to find white shirts for the family. The adults were fine. Our three boys grow like weeds. See you guys next Saturday! GMG!

  8. Oh man, The 'underlying conditions' argument often chaps me. I've actually heard people (as in multiple) callously cite covid deaths of advanced-stage cancer patients as, "Oh, they were going to die anyway..." As if these folks' struggle wasn't compounded & ultimately ended (be it a month or two early, or many years too soon) by this awful disease. As the husband of a warrior who is in remission from Stage3 Breast Cancer, I've bit my tongue so hard, but internally, I'm imagining breaking these people's necks. It's infuriating.

  9. What are ya'lls thoughts on the RB position now with Adaway out? Who starts and how do the carries look? What are the W/L predictions for the month of September games? Explain.

  10. Having a girlfriend vs a fiance/wife is a monumental gap. Honestly not even remotely relatable circumstances.

  11. Yep, Dajon Williams. I don't know if that affected his ability to excel, but I remember an episode of Beyond the Green where they were talking about how much more mature he would naturally be because he knocked up his girlfriend. 🙄

  13. I would like to see a list of the the underlying conditions of those people that are passing away from Covid, but those are never reported as well.

  17. 3-9 here. Tough schedule. We may be better than last year but so is everyone else. Not enough game changers on the team

  18. 6-6 regular season, after starting out ugly….lose the bowl game for a final record of 6-7

  19. I am going with a regular season record of 7-5. And a bowl win to follow! The bowl will be somewhere in a far away land! 8-5 for the year!

  20. So sorry about your loss, GBarksdale. I lost a cousin in Alabama & a couple friends on the Texas Gulf Coast. I’m Type 2 diabetic so the decision to get the vaccine was an easy one. I got the Johnson & Johnson vaccine shot on March 9’th (with no reaction). ⛑⛑⛑⛑ To each his own, but the part that got my attention was that “most” who got the shot don’t die. Yes, there will be exceptions, but in life I’ve always tried to play the best odds & getting that damn shot was that for me. ••• I read that a guy once drank a 6 pack of beer, took 2 aspirin & then died because of his reaction to that combo. You never know.

  21. I posted the link but didn’t post the tweet that had “personal choice.” It was his family’s words. Not trying to be snarky, just hoping maybe a senseless death like this might spur someone to reconsider if they have hesitated this far. The new variant is a MFer.

  22. Hopefully stories like these convince people to stop putting themselves in harm's way over something that's easily preventable. Ultimately it's the families who pay the price and have to pull themselves back together.

  23. Was getting out the right thing to do - without a doubt. But how do you leave without an exit strategy. I have a friend who served three tours there. He said that anyone in authority that is saying they did not expect this is, his words, full of shit. He said it was common knowledge that Afgan army was a "good on paper" force at best and not able to stop any resistance. If this was the best plan we had, then we need a lot of changes in intelligence and military leadership.

  24. Who cares about national interest? These leagues aren't nationally relevant now. Nobody in the media cares a lick about the SBCUSA or the MAC at all--but regionally, the media and fans of those schools do. The MAC thinks its awesome to have MACtion on mid-week nights, except they get hundreds of people at those games because people cannot drive to those games and get back in time for work or school the next day. They could if they played on Saturdays, but they think getting that guaranteed ESPN money is worth it. I'll make the argument all day long that a regionalized conference, like the MAC has and the SBCUSA could easily duplicate, increases attendance and revenue from other sources by playing games on Saturdays and making a TV deal more regionalized--like Bally Sports or even independent channels in the markets they serve. Think Raycom/HSE back in the day for SWC games. We, as a lower grouping, need to be smarter than we are at how to fit into today's CFB world. There's a place--and its much closer to the FCS leagues than it is to the Power Conferences and the AAC/MWC. Edit add--just found a report from A&M that shows they get 60% of their revenue from ticket sales, donations, concessions, and other licensing fees. As much money as that school makes--they get 37% from the SEC and another 3% from 3rd tier rights. At schools like ours, where we get nothing of value from TV, imagine how much better it would be to limit travel, increase fans attending games from both schools, all of whom buy concessions, park, and buy apparel and souvenirs?

  25. ••• Photo 1: 2 Mean Green football stars. •••Photo 2: Harry Miers Original Hit Squad! •••3’rd Photo: The NTS male cheerleader in the middle is Robert Campbell. I worked as a recruiter at 3 different tech schools for Bob. Robert’s dad was Russ Campbell who I think was KNTU 88.1’s first General Manager. •••4’th Photo: Steve Williams of Edna, Texas, who played linebacker for NT Coach Corky Nelson. Later he became wrestling mega-star Stone Cold Steve Austin. ••• 5’th Photo: At the Astrodome, Elvis had just sung “Glory to the Green” to an afternoon matinee performance at the Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo, circa 1970. 27. 4-8 ... because of the buyout, along with overall better effort and some close losses, Seth Littrell keeps his job.

  28. 8-4....offense is statistically good like last year, but more EFFICIENT. Less 3 and outs will help our defense a ton.

  30. I was actually going to give an optimistic prediction...then I saw Harry's prediction. I depend on him to offset my negativity...but alas.... I'll split the difference between my original 4-8 and my updated 6-6 Final Answer: 5-7 Which I think with this schedule...will be decent and will require beating a good team.

  33. One of these is not like the other. Interest in our conference is waning at a catastrophic pace. Need changes at the top pronto, or NT needs to hitch a ride out west & join up with the MWC (unless somehow an AAC invite opens up) ASAP.

  37. Wow. I was way off last year, although he was a rare bright spot in the bowl game: I think this year, I'll switch it up and take a dude early that may only play a little this year, but I think is going to be a superstar by the time he's done here: Mr. Var'Keyes Gumms!
