  3. Also nice that running back is generally the position where freshmen can have an impact and it isn’t that surprising. Not like asking a true freshman QB or offensive lineman to be good on day 1.

  5. Just reviewing Adaway's profile coming out of HS: 3-star, T100 national position rank, offers from Colorado State, Southern Miss, Arkansas-Pine Bluff, Central Arkansas, Eastern Illinois, Indiana State, Southeast Missouri State, Tennessee-Martin and Texas State Current size: 6-0/217 My impression of Adaway's style is, bruising. Relentless motor that embraces contact, with above-CUSA level strength and good speed. can run around defenders with enough room. ...this loss reveals one of the bigger question marks now heading into Game 1: what will we be at RB? Let's take a blind look at that position, specifically RBs listed on roster not named Torrey. We know what he brings. RB1: 3-star, 89 national position rank, offers from Ole Miss, Tennessee, Utah State, Colorado State, Boise State, Nevada, New Mexico, Wyoming, Western Kentucky and Sam Houston State Current size: 5-11/208 RB2: 3-star, 88 national position rank, offers from Texas State, Abilene Christian, Eastern New Mexico and Incarnate Word Current size: 6-0/216 RB3: 3-star, 8 ranked overall in NV, offers from Air Force, Arizona, BYU, Fresno State, Hawaii, New Mexico, Oregon and Southern Miss Current size: 6-0/212 RB4: Current size: 5-7/197. No HS info listed but I was impressed by the video coming out of spring (just a couple days ago) RB5: Current size: 5-6/195. Joined program as walk-on Reasons for optimism: We have 3 guys that fit Adaway's physical mold. 5-11 or 6-0, 210ish-plus lbs. All 3* guys with impressive/respectable offer lists coming out of HS. @BillySee58 has spent a couple seasons hammering home the point that this team's depth, with regard to players with multiple P5/G5 offers, is unlike anything we have ever seen. This is a perfect time and place for us to see this unfold. I will drink the Mean Green Koolaid and say it will happen. This week coaches will take a look at RBs 1-3 above, and witness enough potential production to keep DT in a more pass-catching role. I feel this way yet, at the same time, I'm still gonna hurt about Adaway. My personal belief was 2021 was going to reveal a trifecta (Ruder, Shorter, Adaway) that Denton has not seen a good while. Reasons for pessimism: lack of evidence. We are at a point in SL's tenure where most fans are in "I'll believe it when I see it" mode. I think we've seen some KJ, but not enough to negate any concerns about the loss of Adaway. Also, really tough to replace a motor like Adaway's. That level of intensity is rare. Made his presence on the field much bigger than 6-0/217#. RB1 Keith Jackson RB2 Isaiah Johnson RB3 Ikaika Ragsdale RB4 Ayo Adeyi RB5 Dawson Nobriga

  7. Jace Ruder (just so I can get there before @GOMeanGO 😈). Kidding aside, I hope he can be a difference maker and help us close out games

  8. Adaway is a big loss, but let's not devalue who we have on the roster. Adaway, coming out of high school, was a 3-star (.8369) recruit at 6' and 208 lbs. Here's is what we have. Ragsdale: 3-star (.8372); 6' 213 lbs. and with a better offer list. Johnson: 3-star (.8167); 6' 200 lbs. I got to see him play some in HS and would state that is rating was a little low IMHO. Jackson: 3-star (.8364); 5' 10" 195 lbs. and wit a better offer list. We are going to be alright.

  9. UNT had a billboard off Greenville/SMU Blvd a couple years ago. I think the impact it makes on either side is probably a bit overblown.

  13. I think today’s scrimmage shows by reps that Seth is starting Aune against NWS. No matter who you were pulling for it’s time we all came together and put our full support behind Aune as camp is over and the season has begun.

  20. I agree! He has had less time to prepare with the offense and can only get better. If he is as good as Aune is now, in a few weeks time when more comfortable with the offense, he should be night and day better than Aune, the fact people have them neck and neck is more telling of Ruder than Aune IMO. Ill Cheer for whoever, but doesnt mean I dont have a preference. We already know what Aune can and cant do.

  22. With the University of Texas and Oklahoma University leaving the Big 12 Conference, effective 2025 if not sooner, other Texas universities have an opportunity to create an in-state Division 1 football conference that would: Cover all major Texas TV markets. Attract significant Texas corporate advertisers/sponsors. Preserve or create in-state rivalries and strengths in all sports. Tie in to established college football bowl games. Reduce travel costs and increase attendance for all sports. Open more opportunities for college scholarships for Texas high school athletes. Accommodate families who want to watch their sons and daughters play. Generate statewide public and alumni excitement for Texas college sports. read more: https://www.google.com/amp/s/amp.reporternews.com/amp/8186122002

  26. I believe any QB in Seth's Offense will have numbers at or near the top and statistically be very good. We have shown that we can put up "numbers". What I hope we see is a QB, that when the game is on the line, can control the game and finish.

  27. "footballnews.com" gives a 5 year average of home attendance and stadium capacity of 130 D1 programs. SMU is 90th with 21,500 , UNT 99th at 20,000. We could say the same about all the money UNT has invested in football with little to show for it in terms of won/loss record and our inability to get actual people to attend games.

  28. Read what you just wrote. You and everyone else tells it like they think it is, that does not make it correct or does not make it not debatable Opinions are not facts or sometimes even based on facts You are voted down because you are not part of the "Good Ole Boy Group", how insane is that? That is just looking for attention and you are getting it.

  29. I do not get this. I understand how people could have concerns about vaccines that until today had only been approved for emergency use. But how can you be concerned about a vaccine and at the same time be willing to ingest horse medicine you bought at the feed store?
